  • I decided to place the TOLMAN build on HOLD due to it being too big for my garage. Still keeping the Tolman book as it has the best information on boat building I've found anywhere so far... Good luck to all your Tolman builds and keep me posted... I'd love to see how yours is progressing...

Change 2001! I'm putting the TOLMAN build on HOLD due to it being too big for my garage. I decided to build a Sea Strike 18 instead. Deep Sea capable and a smaller build for the garage space. Still keeping the Tolman book as it has the best information on building I've found anywhere so far... Good luck to all your Tolman builds and keep me posted...

I'm seriously considering building a Tolman and I will be buying this book this week. Fortunatly I live in a rural area and I have about 3 acres of land, mostly open yard area so I have plenty of room to build and store it.

Hey - just ran across your channel. I’m finishing up a 23’ Widebody, and the building process has been a lot of fun and rewarding. Good luck on your project!

Hi Rene! I love the Toleman skiff and have two of his books and am looking forward to building the wide body one day, However, before i do that, i have set in my mind to build the Riptide XR-457. So i was excited to see that you were posting videos of your journey building your Sea Strike. Recently I’ve noticed that i have not been able to find the videos you had posted earlier regarding the Sea Strike. Have they been removed? I am in the process of transferring the plans of my Rip Tide to plywood and was hoping to review your videos to better understand the process.. I’m not sure if I’m looking in the wrong spot or searching incorrectly. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Hope you’re doing great and still building your dream boat!!

The Tolman skiff is an amazing boat ....for the Baering Straits and it's unique distances between waves ...from what I have heard was Tolmans main influence in design as he lived there....from what I gather it's the main reason most people didn't opt for them as the distance between waves in Alaska is different to other ocean's...??.. would it perform better in Alaska???.......I am sure that's just for big loads like commercial fishing for instance that such a technicality would make a difference.....good to have these facts however........looking forward to seeing your build.

A very pretty book but not worth the money if you are getting it to help you to build one of their boat. Good if you have a fair bit of boat building experience.
