This sense of "service" remains in the cognate "disservice", which means an injury or ill turn. Sometimes reading Japanese can be a bit of a time-travelling experience.
I believe in English "to challenge the game" would sound a little bit unnatural. But you could say "I challenged my friend to beat the game in just three days" or something like that. Maybe I'm wrong though, I would appreciate the opinion of a native speaker 😂👍

「リベンジする」の説明の時、もう一個の和製英語に気が付きました。それが「チャレンジする」という言葉です。
日本語の「チャレンジする」は英語の「to challenge」 とちょっとニュアンスが違うと思います。
チャレンジするって英語に翻訳すると基本的にto try になります。よしえさんの字幕みたいに
日本語も英語もネイティブだはありませんけどww
