Xenoblade in 2010 was a pretty wild success despite the utter mishandling of its localization as it took two years to move west and ended up being a GameStop exclusive at the end of the Wii’s lifespan. Because of how it was handled we’re very lucky Xenoblade as a Nintendo staple. People have been saying for years that Xenosaga wouldn’t be profitable for Bamco, bc they said that in a report… from like 2015. Two Xenoblades and a remaster more successful than the first was on Wii have since released. Xenoblade and the larger Xeno meta-series just is more iconic now. I don’t think it will sell as much as a Xenoblade but after the ending of Future Redeemed and how Takahashi clearly intends Xenoblade 4 to tie in to Xenosaga, I just don’t see how that’s not happening. It wouldn’t surprise me if Monolith Soft is actually handling that remaster in-house. If that was a thing in development and Bamco cancelled it I think they’ve made a stupid choice that’s lost them easy money and could be detrimental when Xenoblade 4 comes out and no one wants to spend $500+ to play the Xenosaga Trilogy. Heck Europe only has Episode II localized. I really really hope Xenosaga in some form survives this and makes it to modern platforms so more people get to play it before the next new Xenoblade releases.
Yeah, Xenosaga coming back now makes more sense than ever and has the best shot of being successful atm. I really hope it wasn’t one of the canceled projects.

Bamco owns the rights to Xenosaga. It's their IP just like Baiten Kaitos is their IP. If they are working on a Xenosaga remaster, that wouldn't be "contract work for Nintendo" but their own project.

Status is a very important aspect of Japanese culture. You are saving face for yourself and the company by resigning because you aren't "milking" money from the company and the company doesn't have to go through the shameful act of firing you.
I'm still hoping/coping for Kid Icarus Uprising to be on the switch at some point. I was also bummed out about the cancelled One Piece game. But, at least Digimon Story 6 is still in development.
I don't think it'll be Xenosaga since this is something commissioned by Nintendo themselves. Idk how involved Nintendo would be with a XS remaster other than Takahashi being a consultant on the project.
Didn't Sakurai make the request on his channel for an Uprising remaster well after the 3D action remake was underway? Sounds like it was something else to begin with.

Smaller games like Kid Icarus can keep players busy until the next big release (well for the new Switch 2 now). Also, having all kinds of games, even if they don’t sell as much, helps keep people interested in the console and makes it more fun overall.

Xenoblade is not the most successful game series from Nintendo. but because it is a story focused game series every game sells at least 1 million copies every time and XenoSaga is canon now so many people want to play the story of those games because Xenoblade 4 is probably going to be connected to xenosaga
These were going to be saved for Switch 2 in 2026 anyways. I’ve said it before, but Nintendo likes to make their current system look as dead as possible to incentivize getting the new system, and having almost no releases is a part of that. It didn’t feel as bad with previous consoles because they would still be supporting their other branch. (handhelds or home consoles)
