My wife is an owner of the X90 and has been using it for 7 months. So far there are no major complaints except the IHU which is very unstable at the early stage of getting the car. So far the car serves very well as a daily runner for my 3 kids with ample boot space for groceries and strollers with the 3rd row folded. I have even upgraded its handling with a set of stage 2 bars and had loads of fun bringing it up to the hills. The car climbs and handles way better than my Vellfire and Ute. It’s a vehicle that you get more than you pay more. Only thing you need to tolerate is the slight vibration and engine sound from the 3 cylinder engine.😂
With Proton moving to a more premium segment. It would be a loss if there are no more development for the lower segment which are Saga, Persona and Iriz... While Perodua does dominate the budget car segment, it will be a loss of option for people who wanted to have new car with character at a budget.
They need to deliver a sedan that's below the S70 (an S50?) -- take out the turbocharger, a few fancy bells and whistles, use a simpler transmission and slap it into the current price range of the Persona (which I assume will be phased out now that the Campro is being phased out).
Have compared this to tiggo 8 and jetour x70.Proton win in all aspect, from spacious, technology and assist parking. Its a worth car actually. The only concern is 3cylinder engine and design not sporty.Front aircond vent look awkward.Need to compromise this.Others in term of spec and handling is better than 2 model. Just my opinion based on test drive all the model.😊😊
Impressive review as always Kon! Be waiting for your next review for Tiggo 8 Pro. Vis a vis comparison 😁. Oh, on side note just to confirm, if you turn your signal on, would the camera shown the rear view too?
Jaecoo 8 is not out yet, give and take might be another few more months. And it's not even a fair comparison since Jaecoo 8 is basically a Tiggo 9, another upper ante. What we're comparing now for X90 versus Tiggo 8 is from a price point and specs wise, which I believe it's what Malaysians are looking for@@zulwhite6007
near the end of the video youu talked about engines and the campros are being faced out that the 1.5L was the best choice of the engines but in reality this car would need a bigger engine than why didnt they use an other engine they already owned the 1.8 which i believe many X70 users are very happy with so in a way there was a larger more suitable engine but they didnt use it And honestly with the resent release of the new X70 fase out of the 1.8 engine in the X70 is also very disappointing to me i dont get it people seam to be happy with the 1.8 there is no need for development the engine is already there why not give the people options ? in myy opinion the 1.8 would also have nicely gone in the S70 for S70 maybe make a kind of more sporty lowered with spoilers all around and a 1.8 engine and still make a flagship X70 and X90 with a 1.8 for those that want it an other thing is i didnt hear anything in your video about the fuel consumption does the mild hybrid makes a big difference how does the X90s with mild hybrid compare to the X70s fuel consumption
Should Proton still in its own until today. I highly doubt it would be able to produce as many new models in a span of 5 years (X70, X50, X90. S70) with as many technologies strange to Proton (4x4, direct injection, high power turbo 3 cylinder. Dual clutch transmission .. high tech safety and electronics) It's quite surprising Proton engineers could switch the X90 torsion beam rear axle into a multi link system but can't do the same with S70. Or is it true some people say Geely already has a multi link set up for the AWD version of the donor car that Proton boys could just plug and play?
have you seen majority car in segment B thath use multi link? don’t expect to pay peanut and get gold my man. it is absurd. even yaris use torsiom beam i believe
@@hishamazam5752 suprima was segment C la boy. common to have multilink. that is why when proton fan boy mention that s70 is segment c and i believe it is bullshit. s70 is just B+ segment and that is why they reluctant to use multilink. they want full margin of income from this car even AA or AC is not available but sun roof? stupid strategy.
If it's barely adequate power by single passenger, it would then struggle with with full load of passengers and luggage as with it's design brief in the first place , it's just sad that proton didn't push or choose the 1.8l engine which is more suitable in the first place. Proton is likely doing so trying to consolidate their engine parts among their models to the detriment of their customers driving experience
I don't see a problem with that, after 2 years of driving a Toyota Vellfire carrying corporate peoples + luggages, sometimesa all seats full including guests. The 2.5 V6 only produce 180hp and 235nm. The X90 1.5 tgdi are producing 177hp and 255nm without the hybrid system. With electric motor help, it is 190hp and 300nm (for acceleration I guess). Also X90 about 400kg lighter than the Vellfire. I wouldn't call it "barely adequate" for an entry level D-segment people-mover.
@@mhki2004 but at least Toyota vellfire or Alphard has a choice of engines to choose from, if proton pushed geely to get the 1.8 or 2.0 engine then it would be a better choice overall for the platform and the function it was intended to do. Instead ,it sounds rather a cheapskate method by streamlining the engines in order to make things easier for them than benefiting the choices for the customer to choose from. But then as Kon mentioned, Proton in the big picture is just a small player globally speaking, they don't have the luxury of pushing for more advance engines as geely's customer
@@mykchancy I agree, I do hope they bring in more engine option as 3 cylinder doesn't sit well with me also. And they seems to ask too much out of 1.5L for the big X90. But, with 1.8 or 2.0 (with turbo) they'd stray away from their current target market. They may have to price it closer to something like KIA Grand Carnival (wich is superior with it's diesel powertrain, also better interior design and materials). Importing new powertrain may come at cost. Unlike current ckd 3cyl 1.5T, what I can see they're trying to achieve economic of scale to reduce cost. It's win win situation for people who keep their car longer and need for cheap spare parts and lower maintenance cost. But not so much for people who love to upgrade their car, they'd never want the exact same powertrain.
@@mhki2004 yeah but the hidden cost of running this model is easily hushed up by a lot of reviewers, the first thing is in reality higher petrol consumption , and also more servicing is required than what the manufacturer stated in order to keep the engine running for longer due to heavier strain on the engine and gearbox. We can predict this engine quite easily with the x50 and x70, so with this x90......im sure everyone can guess 😉
@@mykchancy Nahh, I'd bet my money on their DCT since the Vellfire CVT was pulling 2.1 tonne + passengers up Genting every other weeks like a champ (CVT is like the weakest form of transmission ever exists, wasn't my money servicing them anyway). But I wouldn't trust much on that small 3 cyl. No Idea on X90 fc, but Vellfire was like 9L per 100km at best, that's like 11km per litre and it's got much worse most of the day. Any car that big would consume a lot of fuel I guess.
Firstly I don't find this X90 interested, after Kon review, definitely the product have different points of view.. Kon review always goes into details.. 👍 Good review Kon 😅
