- The FBI opened a criminal investigation into the collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge. Federal officials want to know if the crew was aware that the cargo ship that rammed the bridge last month had been malfunctioning before it left port. CBS News' Nicole Sganga has more.

im really tired of us TAX PAYERS having to bail out companies
this company destroyed this bridge
THEY MUST PAY
if I run my car into something I PAY FOR IT
WHY SHOULDNT THEY
@@MiMiiViVithat explanation only makes it worse since that literally implicates the City of Baltimore for allowing a bridge building project that likely wasnt "up to code" and the company they've contracted to do the work. In cases like this that normally would go to the mayor which if you've lived in baltimore you'd know corrupt and mayor has been synonymous with the city for over 40 years at this point.
If their insurance company pays for this they will be able to do their own investigation. Someone does not want the insurance company doing their investigation for some reason.
@@trajanoptimus7198 thats a socialist you can report them for promoting terrorism
@@caseyj779 there are multiple agencies looking into this now, personally I think it was a cyber attack
Because this was a set up by Wes Moore to play YOU for the FOOL!
They need to pay for this act not the tax payers in America
EXACTLY
im so tired of bailing out corrupt companies
and if you look
the entire crew... IMMIGRANTS
Not immigrants foreigners working on their country's (India) vessel. The immigrants are the victims who were working on the bridge.
They’re not immigrants. They don’t live here.
Nothing like the American tax payer who doesn't understand the meaning of taxation and genuinely thinks it's theft while constantly boot licking companies that avoid paying taxes to the point that I'm betting you personally pay more than most CEOs and even our presidents do.
This is honestly one of the few times that tax payer money is spent in a good way.
All I ever here from Republicans is how tax payer funds should basically be used for nothing at all and not understanding the importance of public infrastructure.
Like really, what would you rather your tax dollars go to personally? If you had to choose where your money gets sent, just say it.
Oh, also, the ship companies insurance will most certainly pay back what it cost to fix the bridge. However would you rather we just wait for the insurance companies to pay for it while we have a key bridge down just so you can say "Good thing the bridge is down, that way we can fund wars rather than fix what's broken over here."?
The cargo ship needs to pay for the bridge not the taxpayers.
The insurance company will reimburse. Think of it like your auto insurance. Your insurance company pays for the damage then sues to get their money back
@@cherrilynchester6714 biden said u.s. taxpayers are building and paying for the new bridge.
@@maverick-zj3jz yes, and the government will be reimbursed by the insurance company. We do the repairs now because of the double dilemma of sea traffic and commuter needs. If we wait for payment from the insurance company well they are not in a hurry, investigation, waiting for mechanical reports, drug testing and then there is the claim process. 20 years in the business.
Don't worry the people will not lose money on this needed rebuilding.
What took them so damn long to open an FBI investigation?? This is suspicious as hell!
Why would it "take years to get an answer"??
"Oh the FBI is on the case, now everything will be ok" - no sane person ever
Yeah they said the Captain did it because they wouldn't fix a pothole on his street.
Exactly.
FBLie.
Did a crew member who was in control of the vessel know about any malfunctions that night, or previous days?
Ships always have problems and maintenance is a never ending process.
The question which the FBI needs to answer is: Why did the ship turn to starboard and then steady up on a course directly towards the bridge supports? The ship had to leave the channel and plow through shallow water with a mud bottom but didn't slow very much while heading towards the bridge. Were the ships engines all ahead full at the time of the collision?
@@MiMiiViVi That does not answer the above questions. But it is the story and they are sticking to it.
@@frankblangeard8865 It makes the full ahead thing factually incorrect, so it does not apply, and the reality is that many ships spend a portion of the time pointed at the bridge pillar and then turn, either for the purpose of making corrections or even because of how the channel works. But if your steering and propulsion go dead during this phase, the result can be a collision.
Good news no more potholes.
Let's not be naive. This was not an accident. Our government cannot be that naive.
It was done on purpose
Did you see the video 🤔
Omg I can tell you people don’t work in any dangerous jobs. Shipping, manufacturing, construction, etc… are very dangerous jobs and freak accidents are not rare.
I swear you crazys piss me off.
Don't be ridiculous
@@robbiddlecombe8392wait…the world isn’t round?
Why doesn't the " TUG BOATS " not escorts all boats away from our bridges, then bring others back in to the docks. Large ships should have at least 4 TUG BOATS, 2 IN FRONT AND 2 ON THE REAR, FOR PROTECTION.
God bless you and your family, loved ones, friends, coworkers.
Our prayers are with you all and the same for tye survivors.
The whole rescue, recovery team, voulteers. Thank you and God bless for a wonderful job.
The FBI? There will be a wonderful cover-up!😡
The liability of vessel owner(s) is limited to the ship's value once salvaged, no more. That's international maritime law, it will apply. Whether ship's officers and crew knew of problems is as may be, their ability to do anything about it is another matter. They don't make money decisions about maintenance.
Where's the black box?
If this bridge is rebuilt (and it shouldn't be) Govenor Moore should bring in an independent Purchase and Accounting team from another state, like Montana, Idaho or Wyoming. Prove to us this wasn't an intentional act!!!
Yeah, and the same thing is happening in other ports.Like it's an accident.Where were the tug boats that usually escort them out of the port 🤔
Rip. ❤
I want an investigation into why wasn't the bridge towers protected like the electric poles 1:52
See those little round things in the water? That was their protection. Little round pieces of concrete.

Oh really? Just now?
What can go wrong with a container ship solely under it's own power, transiting under a main artery at night, and without a tug???. This was an accident WAITING to happen
Where was the pilot? Or was a pilot required?
And we trust? Right.
If the ship lost power, as the lame stream media reported, what was "criminal" about this? Sure the ships/company is responsible for this, but "with facts", what was "criminally" done?
It's called "Maritime Criminal Negligence", if you or I had a boat or ship that was in no condition to sail, and caused damage to a port or wharf we would have to pay for it or go to prison.
Yeah, I’m sure the Feds are going to find Feds responsible😂 yeah, right. There is no “investigation” being done. They did this lol
I agree
The FBI is too busy rounding up more tourist of the capitol. 4 capitol police officers who responded on Jan 6th committed suicide soon after around the same time. They called the deaths " dying in the line of duty" implying they all were killed on Jan 6th. None were injured on Jan 6th. Interesting?
Dirty fuel filters?
maybe just me... but dont you think they should try to get a barge or two there to try and help with the traffic until its fixed.... idk just common sense things here
There are 3 other routes that can be used with one being a toll road.
Common sense 😂
The what great so it’s dragged out information is redacted It’s going to be 25 years until they find out what’s already known The boat was not safe they new this now they need to pay every one involved
Do we trust the FBI to do an honest investigation?
He'll no, there corrupt as hell
Hahahahahaha!😃
Act of Terrorism
I'm not surprised. It was no accident. We know. The ship's crew knows that it was no accident.
If the bridge didn't get him, JoeofGenocide sure would.
I can’t believe they haven’t blamed Trump yet !!!
Hope this don’t affect the Maryland blue crab season
I found video that shows explosions along the top of the bridge in 3 different places at the time of impact 😮😮😮
Those were supposedly electric wires for the bridge lights breaking. 😍
🤦♂️ if anyone believes anything you say where all doomed
I love how stupid you sound.
I saw that. It was edited out right away.
Why would you spread lies
