Sometimes adventures don't go exactly as planned...and our time at Kejimkujik National Park was one of those moments. We planned to go on an overnight camping trip, but we had to pivot. And while our time in the park wasn’t what we envisioned, we still made the most of it and had a great time!

Aww, I'm sorry things didn't go as planned. But I do have to give Kona some credit--she may have had to sit this one out, but she's climbed far more mountains and hiking trails than the average person. Still an accomplished and adventurous pupper! I especially love when she plays around on the beach.
Awww. poor Kona. It is so stressful when our furry friends are upset. You made the right choice. Burgers and potatoes look delicious. Fun dessert! - Michelle
Good job friends! Kudos for caring about Kona, and many thanks for sharing the canoeing/camping experience! Awesome!
We're so glad it was still an awesome trip! Poor Kona, but it was nice you guys could turn around and drop her off, then go back out and spend some time at the campsite. Looked like an awesome site. Your second site was really nice, too! Great video! Thanks for taking us along! ❤
Oh no, I am so sorry to hear Kona didn't have a great time and needed to go back to the van, especially since you said you were looking forward to this all summer! I've loved watching your Nova Scotia videos - some real trips down memory lane for me. ❤️
You guys are good people for listening to your dog and making her a part of the family like you would a person. In the end, it ended up being a good thing that you didn't tent camp with the rain you had the next morning. Glad to see not all was lost and that a fun, woodsy, camptastic time was had by all three of you!
Candanian parks seem to reign supreme. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Wishing you two a million+ subscribers sooner than later! Your content is tight and you deserve it.
I'm glad you got to salvage some of you camping trip at Keji. You headed to a great area of the park initially. If you ever get the change to go back, keep going to end of one of those inlets you were camping on and get a campsite on the river at the end of the inlets. Canoeing the river systems is the highlight of Keji backcountry. The wildlife and scenery is amazing---it's a magical spot. Ticks can be an annoyance there though, especially with a dog.
Poor Kona. It took us a few trips out to get our pup comfortable but now she loves it. If you ever want to canoe camp in the Adirondacks please reach out… i can suggest several nice trips that will work for Kona… and still get you well out there in the backcountry. Cheers.
You always seem to make the best of every situation, even if it wasn't what was planned. I love your videos.
Awww poor Kona ... Am so sorry that you had to change your canoe camping trip to a day trip. But you made the best of it and again, I enjoyed the scenery of the National Park in Nova Scotia. Thank you for blessing us with your traveling journey through Nova Scotia .. am enjoying your videography!
Your enthusiasm is infectious, coupled with awesome images, which motivates to explore more in Nova Scotia. You ar both incredible ambassadors for so many different places.
Local Nova Scotian here! So glad you enjoyed Keji, it is such an AMAZING park. I have many amazing memories there and have been countless times but there is so much to do you will never be bored. My favourite activities to do there are biking and kayaking.
Next time you go, try the Hemlocks and Hardwoods trail. Whenever people ask me what my favourite hike is this is definitely in my top three. It is absolutely stunning and has hemlock trees that are hundreds of years old.
We'd definitely love to come back one day and do more! Thanks for watching!
Your wife has so much energy to explore. She has an adventurous spirit.
If pup is happy than it’s all good !!
You two are the best doggie pawrents…always thinking of what is best for Konie! I’m so glad that you were able to experience the canoe trip and you didn’t have to canoe back the next morning in the cold and rain! Great video of another beautiful area!
Canoeing is my favourite form of water transport. That park and campsite look amazing
Thanks for another fine trip, and especially for thinking of Kona's welfare in cancelling your overnight camping canoe part. I'm sure she appreciates that.
We was much happier chilling in the van instead of the canoe! We still had a fun time out there and she enjoyed the campsite later that night!
I have watched a number of your videos but this one really was special. First, you gave up a dream for you doggie. There are people watching that would call you stupid, dumb, idiots, but blow them off. My respect for you has been elevated beyond what I didn't consider an issue. You changed plans for your faithful, unquestioning companion. Kona is family. Way it is. Watching Kona kissing both of you explains it all. Not because Kona knows what you gave up but because she loves you. I have a dog as well and frankly, the love he gives me is beyond questioning. In the end all three of you got to camp and enjoy together. Does it really matter the small piece of dirt you spend time together? I discovered you not long ago and think you both are very cool people and give us wonderful escapes. Now, I know you are people of depth. I am hooked.
Thank you so much!
You are good puppy parents and made the right choice.
Poor Kona, hopefully she feels better 😊😊.
Wow! Look at this waterfall. Amazing !
I'm guessing that you were a little relieved when you woke up to rain. Nothing spoils a camping trip in a tent more than rain. As always thank you very much for bringing us along on your adventures guys!!!
When I saw “ Epic Fail” my heart lurched a bit. I watched the episode and I am so glad you guys decided to turn back and leave Kona in the Van. The wind and the choppy waters would have terrified her😢. So happy you guys still had a good time and really Kona saved you from canoeing back in the rain😊. Katheryn my son does the same thing as you, squirting cool whip straight into his mouth ❤ One more video to catch up. Wishing both you and Adam a wonderful holiday season and looking forward to sharing 2024 with you all❤
Yes we weren't too upset about waking up in the van instead of a wet tent!
That's the best way to consume canned whipped cream! 😂
Thank you! Happy Holidays!
What a great adventure. It looks like Kona is quite happy how it all turned out.
I made so many foil packs camping as a Girl Scout...brings back memories. So good of you to turn back when Kona was unhappy - and hey, she saved you from waking up and having to canoe back in the rain.
East Canada is so beautiful. We toured east Canada Provinces one summer and everywhere we went was full of green trees, flowing rivers, water falls and rolling hilles. After few days, we felt a little bored because the scenary were more or less same. One good thing was nowhere was croweded. We did eat a lot of lobsters.
Poor Kona! Congratulations for making the best of Plan B! I think I’m going to make that dessert in my oven!
Awww sorry that happened but you are being very smart. Glad you made the best of your moment. Plus I gotta try your fire dessert! Thanks for the good video :)
Great video! Beautiful photography! Bless you on your way! ❤
U guys are such awesome fur bay parents!!
Once it gets dark, it doesn't matter where you are camping. That said, with rain setting in, it all worked out for the better.
Thanks for sharing another fun adventure, even if things didn’t go exactly as planned!
I am so glad everything worked out for you guys! Those views were beautiful and at least you did get to stay in your van too & sleep comfortably lol! Amazing video. I can't wait for the next one! 💖
Another awesome adventure with A & K!
Whaa...time to head home!
Enjoy Austin 😉
Awww, poor Kona! U guys made the right choice. Still a fun adventure! Your meal & dessert look amazing & beautiful scenery 😍 Thanks for sharing
I dig Kathryn's one-armed rowing technique. She's been working out. She's huge.
Nice to see you visiting a familiar park to us , we always took our kids camping in Kedge Park every year when we were younger . We camped in The Meadows as well as Jim Charles areas . The lake ALWAYS got rough in the afternoon . Sorry about your doggie not liking the canoe , i would be scared too if i were her !! We enjoy watching your videos .
That dessert looks delish, I do something similar in the microwave, though I sometimes add bourbon..... really enjoy all your videos, thanks for doing what you do.
Glad you guys got to visit Keji , I have been hiking/camping/canoeing there for over 40 years. Keji lake is great but the best is the backcountry trails and canoe routes.. Hope you can get back there another time.. It is hard canoeing with a dog that is not used to it.. we have a n 8 week old Yellow Lab and he will be in a Canoe this spring.. been really enjoying your travels..we also did NL and CB this year.
Thanks, for taking me places I will never visit! Love your videos.❤
We took our toddler and our 15 pound shih tzu out on a quick day canoe trip in the BWCA. Our dog has been on boats since he was a puppy so is very calm in a canoe/kayak. He isn't fond of other dogs and caused a very stressful situation when he saw a larger dog on the shore (like far away) and proceeded to bark non-stop until the other dog swam out to our canoe and tried to jump into it! It bit my husband (not badly) and finally swam back. I was worried the other dog would struggle to get back as we were out pretty far. Everything was fine but ruined a peaceful experience. No way would I bring him with again, haha!
Beautiful
It's more like an unexpected surprise to me over a fail LOL. Poor Kona......
You made the right choice ❤
Good on you, pet parents! Priorities. 🐶
Come back down to Lexington. I’ll have a pint of Crank and Boom waiting for you.
K, when visiting a backcountry outhouse always bring a stick in with you. Run it around inside the opening before sitting down to get rid of any spiders under the rim. Don’t want any surprises.
Good tip! Thanks!
Definitely stealing that apple crumble idea!!!!
We're thinking that maybe Kona hated the lifejacket at least as much as the canoeing. No pet is perfect, any more than we humans are. As you pointed out, she's an amazing hiker dog, especially for a small canine, and that's a real plus for all your adventuring. You just may want to write canoes and kayaks out of her future itinerary.
Great video guys we would do the same for our little Mabel your good people
Wow guys, I just watched this on a high-resolution smart TV and it looked awesome. Great video and sound quality! We have made it to Los Altos, which is less than an hour south of San Francisco. Have you guys done a video about SF yet?
This is my kind of camping. And then sleeping inside on a comfy bed.
You made lemonade out of lemons! I think Kona knew something.......dogs have special powers ; )
A travel agent once told me that the best adventures are the ones which go wrong. More adventure.
I completely understand your dilemma with Kona… I can’t stand when the dog is whining in the car and we only have to go about 1 mile… It’s super stressful… For everyone involved
Saved by your dog!
Aww there always next time
Have you heard of or tried the "thunder jacket" (it is a calming jacket) to help Kona with stressful and scary situations? We have used it on one of our cats, with excellent results, and I have heard friends say it works very well with their dogs, too. Maybe if you try this trip again, the jacket could help.
Yes we’ve used it in the past. We had mixed results. I think we just need to ease her in much slower and get her comfortable in it on land
I was suprised at the title you guys don't seem to fail much lol. Definitely wasn't a fail though. Looked beautiful
I guess the definition is in the eye of the beholder 😂
I always enjoy whatching this channel.
would like to know what kind of drone you use.Beacuse the secenery in this video is so beautiful.I want to buy same one. Please tell me.
Great video. I don't blame Kona- I hate canoeing also. Request: On the way back home, please visit Rhode Island. It is one of the least visited states. I would love to see it.
It was a tough paddle!
We visited Rhode Island on the way up to Canada earlier this year. Unfortunately we only had a small window while there and the weather was not good. So we decided to cut the video because we didn't think we could make the video we wanted. We hope to go back one day! We got to do a few things off camera and we loved what we did and saw!
Loving your videos through the Maritimes but too bad Kona didn’t like the canoe. You should have tried reaching out to Jazz and Crystal of The Vanwives as they would have loved to dog sit Kona and probably showed you around. Anxious to see what’s next on your adventures.
Kona is a huge handful with a lot of behavioral issues. We are extremely picky on who we leave her with.
Gee those look like Taquamenon Falls
Do you teach people one on one camping?
I would love to learn one on one hands on
I have never canoed with a dog, but I do kayak with my 67 lb dog. I watched some videos ahead of time of how to get your dog used to kayaking. I put a non-slip mat at the bottom, and had my kayak on the grass first. I then got my dog to jump in and sit in front of me, while giving her lots of treats. When she got used to the kayak itself, I did very short trips, giving her lots of treats, so she thinks it’s a great place to be. I’ve extended the time in the kayak to 1 hour, but at some point, she tends to stand up, and one time she got up on the bow and then slipped off into the water. So I stay fairly close to shore, so she can swim ashore and I can get her back in the kayak, because there’s no way I could pull her back in.
Thanks for those tips!
Yeah looking back we definitely needed to introduce her to it much slower! We thought doing a shorter trip like this was slow enough, but definitely not! If we try this again we’ll try your methods
Thanks again and thanks for watching!
HOw do you heat the van?
Have you tried cooking your apples with the granola in the aluminum foil as you heat them? Either way, this is a wonderful idea, thank you for sharing!
No we haven't. Sounds like a good idea. Maybe do half of the granola cooked and some as a topper. We like the crunch!
Thank you and thanks for watching!
😊😊😊👍👍👍🇨🇦
Too bad Kona didn't like the canoe , my Mr. Tucker loves the water too much he keeps wanting to jump out and swim for a bit and then get back in but he's 120 pounds so that would end up being a disaster or me getting a wetting at least lol
Well I hate to say it but it looks like you need a more adventurous dog as a side kick for the adventures of A & K 😂
Yeah right! She’s been to 49 states, 5+ Canadian provinces and territories, hundreds of hikes, a Colorado 14er, Wheeler Peak in New Mexico, above Arctic Circle, the list goes on!
Water adventures just aren’t her thing 😂
Why did you burn the wood bag?
Why not
@AdventuresofAplusK The bags are meant to be returned to the park so that others can use them as well. Normally, if you are on a back country site, they will go around and collect it after you check out. Just a tip for next time.
I see. Didn’t know that. Thanks
bears can climb trees?
yes, and with ease
Hmm your next video will be on a different continent but still cold... Europe is my guess.
You got it!
