I’ve had it on a dyno today. It made 448.01bhp so it does have a safe map on it. Thanks to everyone for highlighting it and thanks to Driven+ for the review or I’d have never known. Got some really good information from the data logging.
What are these like I currently got stage 2 bmw m5 comp x drive around 720bhp need to get something smaller like a hatchback obviously beat rs3s in reverse, but it’s abit big for what I need
I have one over here in New Zealand, and that's my number plate - 5BANGR Stage 1 + tuned at the moment The handling characteristics aren't great in the twisty stuff, but a few suspension mods can help sort that out.
I’ve also had a Golf R and this is noticeably more expensive. Insurance, mpg definitely a lot worse and it’s really expensive on the brakes and pads when needed. But it is a far superior car - night and day difference to be honest.
Fuel economy is actually really good when you aren't giving it the beans. Premium tyres, brake rotor replacement and waterpump/bevel box issues can definitely hurt you 8n the pocket though. The 5 pot sound is glorious though, and the acceleration is addictive but you quickly get used to it and want more!
Definitely not standard. I have an 8V RS3 and it did 4.0 sec standard. Now it’s tuned and has 535hp its doing 3.1 sec now. Measurements done with a Dragy. Stage 2 tuning
I’m getting it dyno’d very soon to see. I bought it as a standard car and I’ve had someone look at it briefly who couldn’t find any flashes to the ECU.
The engine makes this car. Without the 5 pot it’s just a S3 or Golf R and those are boring to drive in my opinion. The new 8Y RS3 is a lot better as it’s more rear biased but the tuning capability isn’t quite there. Those that have the capability want 5-8k 🤣 I think having the xdrive or Amg setup where you can switch between all wheel drive and rear wheel is best of both worlds. Wonder if Audi will ever do that.
@@neil5242what issue are with the gearbox? Ive never seen dq500 fail? They can run 800+ hp pn stock box sll day long. Same can be said for the motor. DAZA/DWNA are bulletproof. I think their tuning potential speaks for itself

My OG M2 sounds a lot better than this farty 5 pot, and as for 'unstable' LOLOLOL yeah ok, my M2 is sooooo unstable (according to a melon like you who has never driven one). Chris Harris didn't think it was unstable, and I think he knows what he's talking about.
@@gregroles69to be fair (and I'm not an Audi fanboy), it is better than the Golf R, although my biggest issue with it is the price. You could have a used 718s for that money. Granted, it might be slightly slower and more sketchy in the wet, but it is night and day in terms of feedback, handling and quality.
@incognito96 you do realise it's a front engine rwd car, vs a car that has a transversely mounted engine in front of the axle and is front wheel driven primarily? How is the latter a driver's car, and the former not? Go and review any serious driver's videos comparing the two. Tiff and Chris Harris came to the same conclusion: the Audi, as great as it is, is a blunt instrument. The fact that the engine is in the wrong place and it's primarily fwd upsets the handling, hence the Audisteer moniker.
First of all... RS3 is DEFINITELY noy an AUDI, but a vw golf as platform clearly shows. Yes it have some badges and interior gadges made for audi, but that's all. Rest of it it's a shitty FWD platform and it runs 99% of the time as FWD car. Even when that garbage haldex is active, the car had a strong FRONT BIAS transmission and a maximum 180nm for rear axle for VERY limited time period. His front diff is DOUBLE as strong/dimension on the FRONT vs. the rear diff (which is fiat panda size-). Just install a manual haldex controller, set 50/50 and run few strong 0-200kph 😂.. your car will become purely FWD at the end of the second try 😂 AUDI makes torsen AWD which it came from factory 50/50 or 40/60 F/R for sport models. The only haldex properly runned by an audi model is for R8 which runs haldex for the FRONT axle, not as the rs3 which runs that shit on the MAIN AXLE for any sport (wonna be) car. Also rs3 is the only "awd"-ish car in the world which it came from dealer/factory with WIDER tyres on.. FRONT WHEELS =)))) 😂.. and that tells everything about it
I’ve had it on a dyno today. It made 448.01bhp so it does have a safe map on it. Thanks to everyone for highlighting it and thanks to Driven+ for the review or I’d have never known. Got some really good information from the data logging.

That rear RS3 badge is pissed af
The understated looks is what I like with this car. Take the RS badge off it and most people wouldn't have a clue what it was.
I much prefer these over the new RS3 hatch but the new saloon is a sexy piece of kit.
I prefer the design of this car to any of versions that succeeded it. Same with the TT, the second version looks much better.
GREAT review and launch!💪 Love it!!!
Thanks! 👍
Definitely tuned as the rev counter is higher than 7k. Standard red line is 6.8k. Still, great review of a great car (I am biased, I own one)
Interesting! Thanks for watching

Yeah that sound is awesome
5 pot sound or b58 sound ? Personally B58 but I am biased as have an M 240i
B58 sounds better imo and is there better engine all round imo.
B58..more of a quality refined sound. I mean the M140/240i original sound from 2016-2018 without any OPF or filters. RS3 is just raspy.
B58 sounds like trash compared to this. DAZA all day any day.
@rob198 yeah no, 6 cylinders will always sound better than 5.
@AnnoyedGlobe-sf9yo yeah no, not a dinky b58, sorry. A engine that sounds like a baby v10 vs a dinky 6 banger built off a diesel block....no thanks...
One of the main reasons I bought my RS3 is the 5 pot but it also drives completely different to the S3 I had
crazy how 1 more cylinder can feel so different

The daza is not better to tune, as tuners are now going back to the cast iron block, which is much stronger.
Thanks for the info!
Its tuned . How many people disclose if a car has a different map on the car and car dealers will not check
I’m getting it dyno’d very soon to see. I bought it as a standard car and I’ve had someone look at it briefly who couldn’t find any flashes to the ECU.
Doesn't matter. If a dealer plugs it into a diag tool, they'll see it's done 100mph standing still ie rolling road time
