Thanks for the informative video. Just to confirm ICQs check for understanding for instructions and CCQs check for understanding of what is being taught?
I stlil have problems with CCQ. E.G. He is running. CCQ- Is he doing that now? Did he run yesterday? Will he run tomorrow? Are they CCQ? THank you for the answers
So the ccq must always have a positive answer? If the students figure out that you always have to say 'yes' to them, wouldn't there be a chance that they're just saying 'yes' anyways?
It's not mandatory. It's a suggestion. If I ask you: "Are apples black?" And you say "no", I know that you know what it is not. But what is the answer then? You have to provide something positive so that he goes to the right path of knowing what it is. But you can put some "no"s along the way. "Are apples black?" NO. "Are they red?" YES.
Can you give me some examples? Then i can try and help you :) Why don't you trying making com CCQs related to some vocabulary you are going to work with here. Oh, let me just say that for beginners, pictures usually work wonders.
@@ExamSeekers Thanks for your response and willingness to help. Yes, describing and using pictures work awesome with beginners. I'll try to share some CCQs with you soon and we’ll go from there. Thanks once again!
Hi there, I hope you’re having a great week. Here is my example: teaching personal information vocabulary. Using flashcards for students to practice the vocabulary. Then creating a matching task. To CCQ them, Ss will have to look at one picture at a time and choose the matching term out of 14 vocabulary terms. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you so much for your time!
@@Facts-Matter449 So, your lesson is based on personal information, right? I think this is a nice task, but I wouldn't say this is a CCQ, I believe what you have is a controlled task to practice. CCQ would be: "Is Pedro a name?" (yes) "Is 457893 a name?" (no, it's a phone number). "Is moroccan@gmail.com an e-mail address?"(yes) "Is a name and a phone number persona information?"(yes) "Is the name of the street you live personal information?"(yes) CCQ - Concept Checking Questions are basically simple questions to verify understanding. So you'd say, "today we are talking about personal information, what kinds of personal information are there?" Elicit them from students hoping they will give you all the information you are working with and board them. If they didn't, you provide some extra... then check if the students know everything. "So, what is 'full name'? Pedro, what is your full name?" (Pedro blabla...) Like this, you are CCQing. Then you go for the task: "Now, in pairs, match the personal information prompts to the answers". Are you just teaching personal information, or are you teaching them how to ask them? Hope I have helped.
Great explanation!

@@ExamSeekers Thanks so much for your feedback! So, can informal assessments replace CCQ? Thanks once again!
