Great question! I think I spent around $10 for the set and I purchased it from Frys - an electronics store in Austin, TX. They have a website - just Google them (can't put link in comment). The screwdriver set is called iWork and it has come in pretty handy. Thanks for watching my videos!! Show your support and please subscribe!!
@InjectionLethal I wouldn't destroy the unit. The Dell Inspiron 1545 is not a bad computer at all. Yes, the design is a bit weird and unconventional from a lot of other Dell computers but for the most part this is not a bad unit. Stay focused, keep at it, look for a detailed tear-down manual for this particular computer. I am not certain but Dell may have this on their website. Thanks for watching and please subscribe! :)
Well the worst that can happen is you could damage the motherboard. Although, I would be lying if I didn't say that I have attempted these upgrades myself without looking back. So far, never run into an issue. However, no telling what could happen in your case. So with that being said, I would leave it up to you. Do more research and see what others have done and what worked for them. Thanks for watching!! Please show your support and subscribe!
I have a set of screwdrivers called bulldog. If I'm not mistaken, I purchased them from Amazon. Best of luck! I appreciate your support. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!!
Hey! i got a question I also have the same computer and it has a 2gb memory, I would like to updgrade it to a 4gb where and what kind of memory should i buy??? great video it help me too!!
Please I really enjoyed your tutorial on this dell laptop. But I have one , and is inspiron 1545 . the battery is bad , some of the keyboard buttons are not there , how can you help me get the exalct battery or where can I possibly get it online . And also give me your website address
You can purchase an external hard drive really from anywhere. Your local tech store should have them or you can purchase one online at Amazon. They connect via USB and very simply to install. Thanks for watching! Please show your support and subscribe. :)
Any recommendations for a specific SSD drive for the1545? Also, if I save complete system backup to an external drive, should I be able to restore my Windows and system settings onto the new solid state drive?
Hi - Your best bet is to visit the crucial website to see precisely what your computer's max RAM is. Just go to crucial (dot) com and enter your computer make/model. This should tell you what the max RAM is. Best of luck! I appreciate your support. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!!
Great video, thank you :) One question - Would it be possible to upgrade the CPU in this laptop ? Does it support anything other than what it has? Thanks!
Hi and thanks for watching my videos. This computer, if I'm not mistaken, has a 6 and 9 cell battery. Checkout eBay and Amazon. Best of luck! I appreciate your support. Thanks for watching and please subscribe!!
hello there i just bought a new hard drive (wd10jpvx) for my dell 1545 but my computer doesnt detect it. it says ( no boot sector on internal hard drive) any suggention? thank you
thanks for taking time to show, this,i know its simple but its nice to see it done first lol,,i have subscribed as will check out more your vids as got few repairs for friends
So I have about a 6 year old Dell Inspiron 1545 and so far my battery has died (it needs to be plugged in for it to work at all times) and i am missing a "C" key. lol, and now my laptop is doing this weird thing to where it moved all my files (pics, vids, music, documents and such) out of the library and somewhere deep into the "OS [C:]" part of my computer. I was lucky enough to find them there when a friend looked at my laptop, I thought it had randomly reset in to factory mode. Is there any website or brand of keyboard/key and battery you recommend? and do you have any idea what might be the cause of my folder problem? (The background image is also gone and sometimes it's just a black background when I turn it on)
My System Specifications but still slow, what should I do: Processor: Dual Core2(2.20ghz) RAM: 4GB (3.46 USABLE) OS: 32 Bit, x64 BASED processor HD: no idea (How can I check that)?
i removed my hard drive and put it back in and now my laptop wont boot at all. its turns the fan on then shuts back down. any help on the matter will be greatly appreciated
hi, I had bought a new hard disk. unfortunately it feels a little loose in the slot and is not getting detected. it a 9 mm Seagate hard disk of 500 GB. any suggestions?
egymke0 I fixed it by stubbing the additional space with a folded paper to make it fit in the slot. Not sure if this is the right way. But it worked for me.
Please give me more details or kindly send me some pictures this problem from 3 years ago and not fix . I have that 500GB seagate. Show me please in details.
hi my dell 1545 dell inspiron is making me do a scan every time i start my laptop. it scans on a black screen for consitinsy of the hard-drive is it possible to fix.
Hi, I have a question. In the dell website, it says that the maximum memory for my inspiron 1545 is 4GB. But I found a few sites that says 8GB is possible too. So what do you think about this? Should I risk it? Thank you so much! Btw, same extended battery haha :D
You can install a hard drive of any size. Since they're so inexpensive these days, I would do a minimum 1TB hard drive. Good luck! Thanks for commenting and please subscribe!!!
ITC Austin I got a 2.5 in SATA HDD on Amazon that said it was a replacement for the original Drive in the Inspiron 1545. dimensionally though the Old original Drive is thicker almost 3/8 of an inch vs 1/4 for the new one. Using original caddy the new one is not detected. What should I do? Get a new caddy and try it or send back the drive and find a new HDD that is the exact same thickness as the old one? If you know of a guaranteed source of the hard drive that would help. Thanks for the video, btw
Hy there, do you happen to know how to unlock the HDD password? I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 too, and the damn thing got blocked because I forgot my password... Any sugestions?

I get error code 2000-0142. I put a ps3 hard drive in(350gb 5400rpm sata). The error never came up, but still not booting. Should I get a hard drive for a laptop and try it still? I think the one out of my ps3 should have worked..
Linda, very sorry for the late reply. Take the hard drive out and purchase an adapter from any electronics store. Adapter is sata to USB. Thanks for commenting and please subscribe!!!
