  • My first Kayak wildcamp on the Broads at Hickling. Stunning location and a great opportunity to test out the Alpkit Tarpstar 2 , very impressed with it and will do a full review on it soon. #alpkit #jetboil

    Good to see you back out (finally) again, Hardy …
    Great place for an overnighter that! 👍🏻
    I have a Lanshan-1 Plus, with 4-season inner and T-Zip inner doors. It’s my go to shelter for when I need something half the weight of the Helm-1.
    That silly door guy system was the first thing I changed on the tent straight away, before even using it for the first time!
    It’s way better now for getting rid of that arrangement..😁

      @@user-xf5wr4zm6u it’s a great shelter, pretty much used it all summer without any problems. Hopefully Alpkit will do a 4 season inner……

    Great to see you out again Hardy. Beautiful location and loved that paddle in you did. You’re inspiring me to get my inflatable banana out. Think I’ve got lucky with my Lanshan 2 as it survived absolutely everything thrown at it on the Coast to Coast including 5 days of rain storms and v.strong wind. Light, waterproof, easy to erect (Matron…). The gaps are for ventilation as it’s designed for spring/summer. People can also just lower the poles if they don’t like the gaps! Also has two decent vestibules for storing wet gear and cooking in if the weather is rough. Your dinner looked delicious by the way 🫡

    Well bigger me, I was just on about you today with some friends & up you popped.
    I’ve also been stuck in a rut & can’t seem to shake it off?
    That barrel is called a chutney barrel & if you’re going to buy one, don’t get the screw lid type as they can be a pain the rear end to undo.

    I just wish Alpkit had designed it in such a way as to allow a little bit of a vestibule, and also added some tieout points on the middle of each side panel. I have heard rumours they will potentially update with some tieouts.
    One thing that draws me to this tent is it can be used with the 1 and 2 person inner, which increases its versatility quite a bit. If they make those improvements, I may be tempted.
    The video was gorgeous with the sights and sounds.

    • @benhikescamps
      @benhikescamps 7 дней назад

      @@Jon_From_Coventry the issue I had with the Tarpstar 1 is that the inner always had to be pitched on the side and the vestibule is never at the front. A design flaw. Also, if raining, you have to be very careful opening doors as there’s a risk water can come straight in on the inner. A strong tent in windy weather though - as Hardy mentioned in the vid.

    • @Jon_From_Coventry
      @Jon_From_Coventry 7 дней назад +1

      @@benhikescamps it's odd as the footprint looks fairly square, so it wouldn't take much to have it so the inner was at the 'back' - seems like such an easy fix for them but quite a substantial oversight. I was thinking the 2 person inner could easily be designed better, by having an indented triangle at the door. Still enough space for two inside, but with a small vestibule.

    Well worth the wait Hardy great video as always I'm trying to get rid of kit and your showing me a new tent 😂 I just give my lanshan 2 away for the same reason you said but I do like the lanshan 1 with 4 season inner that mill looked like it could drop at any moment its amazing down there my grandson has decided to stay there after finishing University so I might pop down for a few nights and get a camp at the same time 😂 atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

    Well filmed and edited as per standard. The cross was one of a few, and it oddly orginally had snack wrappers tied to them. Can't work out their meaning.
