Very solid gains. Doesn’t overload with very high lid range torque that falls off hard as revs go up. Keeps it nice and flat and keeps building more power all the way to redline. It will be interesting to see what it does with 100 octane.
I agree! Very respectable gains. Power climbs throughout the rev range and delivers phenomenal performance while retaining the warranty. Next up 100 octane 😈
I have a Carbahn tune on my 2018 M550 for 2 years and 0 problems and man it runs like a freaking freight train from start to finish never stops pulling. Stronger than a stock F90 all the way thru
It pulls straight up to 7000 rpm with this tune.(HP) Stock or base dyno run hp was peaking at 6200rpm and falling off to 475s. Area under the curve is so much superior with the tune vs stock, especially on the top end. Nice!!
Different dyno, different day and different car. When Carbahn dynoed their car it was 65 degrees and 3% humidity. 602whp Today it was 90 degrees and 50% humidity when I dynoed my car at 575whp. 27whp difference isn’t too much considering the difference in weather.
Hp curve is nice up top but tq curve has a lot left to be desired, that spike in the beginning is giving you that high tq number while it's a lot less everywhere
From my understanding the initial torque spike is from the dyno operator applying full throttle. A dyno is only a tool and the quarter mile time and trap speeds also show the gains that were made. Stock 10.9@124.xx to tuned 10.5@131.xx
@carguy302 the spike is from poor boost control in the tune. A lot of jb4 cars have it, but tunes are usually smooth because you have a lot more control
@snowman2834 Interesting 🧐 Looks as though the OEM BMW tune also has poor boost control because it spiked in the same manner when the car was dynoed stock.
Im looking at the graph in the vid at 5:40 and I’d agree that torque overshoots so much that it dialed back boost a lot. Between 4000 and 4600 almost no difference in power/torque compared to stock as a result. Beyond 5000 boost control is better though. The stock curve is good and normal - just shows the process of controlling within usual torque ups and downs but without a major spike. That being said enjoy the amazing car and enjoy it even more after warranty with new exhaust and a custom tune (and maybe reinforced clutch packages in the gearbox). 👍🏻
@@carguy302 Did the downpipes add power on your other platforms? I read downpipes on the G80 does do much for power unless you're running higher octane gas or upgraded turbos.

That’s great to hear! The M550 is a potent platform. Carbahn never disappoints.
Bro, you have a great stable of cars. Every 1 of those is on my top ten favorite list. 👌👌
Thanks my man! 💯

I agree! 💯 The performance at the drag strip & road course is impressive. I’m considering adding the Carbahn package to my M5.
How did you get a black plate for Delaware? Looking to get one.
Delaware DMV has a raffle for black & white tags once a year around Christmas. You can also buy one from someone who’s selling theirs.
the high rpm gains are amazing because that isn't simply "adding boost". They have to optimize everything to get that last bit
I agree 💯…The car absolutely rips through the entire rpm range.
What stage is this? And did you do heat exchanger
It’s the Carbahn Stage 2 package with the heat exchanger.
Is this stag 2?
On the site they says 602 gas 93 / 618 gas 100 .for xdrive cars ..
Also thank you for sharing the results . I’m very exciting to get mine ready

You’re welcome! You’ll love the car when it’s done.
Do you have a downpipe on?
No downpipes.
I’m about to do the Stage-1 tune on my manual G80 and install my Valvetronics titanium mid-pipe… Pretty damn excited!
It’s definitely exciting! Enjoy the new sound & power. Those 2 mods will transform your car. 💯
@@carguy302 I’m hoping so too! I’ve put 13k miles on it and have no performance or sound mods. It’s time.
Great video

@@joetacchino4470 You're correct! The heat exchanger is part of the package and is required to maintain the warranty.

Why are you not running catless downpipes?
I don’t have any interest in running catless downpipes. Been there and done that…the smell isn’t worth it for me.

No it wasn’t $7k for 70hp.
