My pop played surf tones and licks a ton when I was a kid so that sound always resonated with me. An outboard spring reverb has been on my wish list a long time. A Surfybear is definitely on the short list.
The first songs that I learned with my dad were the ones I played in this video. It's weird how a piece of gear managed to make me connect to something I hated as a kid.
Coming from someone that usually sets reverb to MAX i appreciate this so much🎸🌊🏄♂️🤘🎸 I have been listening to surfy tunes/ watching surfy movies lately having a deeper appreciation for them. My problem is i usually drench my sound in effects and have difficulty nailing the subtitles at times. i got my surfy bear yesterday and am so excited to play with it 🎸🌊🏄♂️🐻
That Gretsch sounds great with the spring reverb. Hermanos Guiterrez are another recent group that rely on this drippy Gretsch tone, and really nice trem sounds too. I'm really happy Surfybear are selling these here over in Europe for about the same price as a great digital reverb pedal. Even with the digital spring reverbs, I only like the sound of the UAD one, and that costs more than these. It's nice, because for me it's one of the nicest things about Fender Amps. But Fender Amps are expensive here. But, between Vox ACs, Marshall JTM reissues and these, can get quite into nice Fender-ish territory. Especially with Fender-based cab / speaker modelling run after.
Fender did so many things right in the 50's, and the reverb tank is definitely one of them. I use to own an original blonde one, and at the time I did not appreciate it for what it was. I'm so glad that I could get this one. It's an excellent reverb.
So everything sounds better through a computer but it's pretty easy to tell that this thing sounds really great. What else is cool is those groupie shadows groov'in and play'in tambourine.
Hey Jon, cool gadget. I think the AC15 has real spring reverb as well. I don't know if it connects straight to the power unit or via the preamp. How does it compare to that one?
@@TheToneLounge I think that album is finally getting recognized a little more as a classic. Great songs along with great production of Eric Valentine.

Awesomeness.
Thanks! Have you tried this unit?
Simply incredible ❤ reverb sound, best I’ve heard
There is a vibe that you get with a unit like this that is just pure awesomeness.
So cool
It is!
Very cool product, great description, and amazing song choices!
Thanks so much! Those are all songs that my dad taught me as a kid. I hated them back then because I wanted to play Van Halen, Skid Row and Y&T. lol
@@TheToneLoungeI get it, individuation from one's parents is the plight of every teenager.
Awesome! The drip really comes through in runaway!
Yeah, I can't get that out of pedals.
Wonderful!
Glad you think so!
Amazing demo! This format is so enjoyable, hoping for more! 🤘
I'm working on doing more of this. It's easier for me, and seems to resonate with more people.
@@TheToneLounge Happy to hear it! Looking forward to the next one

This reverb is like nothing else. I usually do not drench my tone in Reverb, but with this unit it's all I want to do lol
Awesome demos. Always nice to see that Gretsch!
I love that guitar. It's such a great pairing option with the Vox.
That sounds so good!
Absolutely. Their fuzz pedal is equally great.
Great guitar Playing.
Thank you. What did you think of this reverb?

Believe it or not, a computer can also compress too much and mangle the audio. This reverb unit managed to stay true to itself despite all odds'. :)

Yeah, it does have a reverb for sure. They sound drastically different to me. I think I might have to make a video about that at some point.
@@TheToneLounge to me the ac15 reverb sounds a little darker but i might be totally wrong
What's that first tune? It's driving me nuts! Sounds great

I was not expecting you to rip out God of Wine like that! Hell yeah!
I love TEB first album. There is a lot of cool guitar stuff on their.
