    I just want to say thank you for introducing to the joy of getting free plants. I got a whole painted succulent plant from the store and I did ask lol.Oh and NOO it isn't stealing at all. It will all be in the garbage if we don't save it

    I have picked up leaves and pieces for years off the ground or tables in stores. Come to find out my daughter does it also. I look at it like the stores would throw them away. Enjoy your videos.

    I’m also in SoCal. We finally got past the horrible heat wave that lasted for too long. I discovered your channel about the time the heat wave started. I made some lovely proplifting finds with every visit to HD and Lowe’s. During the heatwave, Very few leafs made roots and pups. But Hurricane Kay was kind! She ended the heatwave and added moisture to the air, and early all of my babies have sprouted
    roots and pups! I’m so happy!
    We plan on replacing our parched front lawn with a rock garden with succulents! And most of the succulents were free!

      Sounds amazing! And even better when it’s free right?! I lost some nice succulents to sunburn last week as well, but I think many of them will bounce back given time. Best of luck with your leaf babies ❤

    Thanks for the video! I picked up a succulent leaf (unsure what type) years ago, and just kinda put it in a pot with dirt tilted towards a window in my room. Turns out I did the first method on accident! I’m so happy with my little plant and it’s nice to have a guide since I was just winging it before. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more succulent leaves!

A hundred thank yous as I started doing what you said about family and friends and shopping centers and home Depot and Lowes...I have plant lights too that make all the difference as I live in KY and it's off and on with heat right now...do they need humidity a little bit,?

    Thank you for such a great video! I’m trying the soil method (from leaves) and it’s still early days but when do you actually plant them in the soil properly? Simply when they have decently sized roots? Or when some kind of a stem starts to show? Excuse my ignorance but super new to all this!

  • @yzhang3284
    @yzhang3284 Год назад +1

    You can also just leave the leaf on a surface with nothing on it, it will grow pups and/or roots either way, doesn't need soil. If you wanna learn more go to sunny side up, she sells succulents by propagating so she is a expert

      I have tried air propagation, soil propagation, and the plastic wrap method. I had zero success with the first two methods, but with the plastic wrap method, I have 100% success! Also, you don't have to worry about misting it or checking on it because the moisture in the container keeps it at just the right level.

    Thanks so much for this! Can you propagate indoors during the winter? Its been about a month but so far nothing for my leaves or stems. Im not sure if its cuz it's winter or if i did it wrong by bottom watering instead of misting? Any help would be appreciated. Its a sedum. Thx

    • @FreePlantsForever
      @FreePlantsForever 5 месяцев назад +1

      Indoors is fine, but it is worth checking to see if your succulent goes dormant in the winter. Different succulents have different growing periods and you may just have to wait out the season.

    • @FreePlantsForever

      Sorry you're having trouble. I've found that some varieties do better than others, and some plants require stems to propagate, such as all the "string of" varieties. I've had the best luck with sedums or grapto-type succulents such as ghosties or Fred Ives. I've found Aeonium leaves don't propagate well, but do fantastically well when propagating from a stem. They do require some warmth too, so if you're doing it indoors you could try a heating mat. Best of luck!

    • @FreePlantsForever
      @FreePlantsForever Год назад +1

      I"ve found that with the plastic wrap, the water doesn't evaporate, but definitely keep an eye on it. If there is no plastic wrap or if the weather is particularly warm, there could be some evaporation and it will need to be refilled.
