- The Government of Jamaica is undertaking a major development plan to support the country’s economic growth, facilitate new opportunities and build resilience to climate change and natural hazards.
This includes the design and establishment of Jamaica’s Next City, a major strategic plan for the country and the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) is the agency charged with the responsibility to make this long term development happen.
Jamaica needs manufacturing that produces end products. The country exports too much raw materials the return on value is not that good.
A great place to have the next city would be St. Ann, Portland or St Elizabeth. Potential for economic growth, technology, tourism and residential development.
🇯🇲 More Jamaican factories would be nice... 😏
Not sure about the CITY but we start a petition for an International Airport in St. Elizabeth, somewhere near the historic, Seaport Town of Black River.
That’s the only thing that is holding the Parish back, hence we are not getting much of the Tourist dollars.
The Airport is needed for the South West of Jamaica, which is the only part of Jamaica now that is more than one hour away from an International Airport.
The South West Parishes that the International Airport would serve includes all of St. Elizabeth, most of Westmoreland and Manchester, these are the only parishes in Jamaica which are more than one hour away from an international airport.
It has to be central so the best location is Manchester!!!!
South coast Clarendon
This is great, any areas worth mentioning that are being considered?. Also any updates as to when the construction of the new Parliament Building will begin?.
The last update they gave was sometime in 2021
@@murex5372 OK, Thank you. Hope they get to stick with that timeline
There's enough space around maypen
And the town is already clogged up
When there's plenty of land around
Clarendon is much larger and has too many spaces so if land is a problem they can't go wrong
Clarendon PJ said it years ago lol
Clarendon!!!
Next city should be in Sav-Lar-Mar . The savannah is larger than kingston and St. Andrew , Portmore and Spanish Town, Mo-bay urban areas combine. Clarendon has the best potential though, because there is space to build anything there and it is more centrally located.
They can't even take care of the 2 cities they have must 3 jamaica is something else
The next City will be Clarendon/it has less landslides over the years and it's in consideration already and it's less mountainous because a new City cant build on a hill
What is being done at Main, St Elizabeth?
Its Nain, St. Elizabeth
We already know it's Greater Ocho Rios. The suspense is over!!!! It make a lot of sense.
Too close to the sea
More factory space for SME would be good for growth which has eluded us for decades.
🇯🇲 🙌🏿
Mandeville Expansion
St Elizabeth would be great
Ok
how much of this have you guys already sell out to china?
These people could lie smh
