Worked for 2weeks at the old national museum building under Wits University and I must say Windhoek one of the cleanest cities. I was impressed during my stay there. Planning on visiting and touring Namibia in the near future.
Well done Nick. As a fellow Namibian, your video was well detailed, showing exactly what someone visiting Windhoek for the first time. I'll forward this and the rest of your videos to foreign friends. New subbie here.
I went to Joe’s when it was down in Eros. Also their was the open air swimming pool that now has a shopping center built on the site. Thanks for all the information you supply Nick ❤
I have been to Namibia many times and I good very good memories FROM PEOPLE , FOODS , IMMIGRATION.... AND ROAD TRIO FROM WINDHOEK TO SWAKOP WAS EPIC.Munch love from DRC
I'm coming to Seattle in Namibia I love my country zambia 🇿🇲 we have everything but I also admire to know more about Namibia while me living with people from there
I just feel like I've been to Windhoek 🤣🤣 Another super great video with ample information. So there are fatcakes in Namibia? We call them magwinya in 🇧🇼..Lovely.. Wil I need a guide on my first trip to show me around the city??
most locals will calm them junkies, no idea where that comes from, and the lazy ones call them fat cakes, i mean lazy cause it is translated directly from vetkoek. A guide... not really, just walk and drive around yourself, its so small...🙈😆
Hi Nick, like always it has been a huge pleasure to watch this vid! You will become my main source of information to plan my next year trip (6 months with my wife and kids). By the way, I allow myself to ask you a stupid question. Stupid because it will be difficult to answer, but just let your inspiration guide you: I must slowly book some places in Botswana for June-july 2023 and I plan to travel 7-8 weeks in Nambia before, do you think it’s exaggerated? I was there for 3 weeks in 2014 and I just cover half of the country and it was before having the kids. (I plan to make 7-8 weeks in Namibia, 4-5 in Botswana, 4 in Zimbabwe 4, 5 in SA)!! Thanks in advance and keep your contagious smile
Hi Peter, If you are planning on seeing the entire country then I think that is about the perfect amount of time. You can do it a bit faster, but then it is long distances of driving everyday, only spending a night at a place etc Take your time, if you like a place stay an extra day or if you hear about some other place whilst there you have the option to make a quick detour.
Thanks Nick, you just convinced me that we aren’t totally wrong with our planning! Looking forward to know where you’ll be next year during our trip. It would be a pleasure for us to meet you on the road or in the bush!!
I am going there for the first time next month and feel like I have been already. I am doing a tour but do wonder if there are taxis at the Grove Mall or do I have to do dial a cab? Hotel not far but don't want to walk.
Thanks great video very informative looks like a Beautiful place to visit wondering what’s Windhoek like when it comes to safety ? Saw online quite a few sites saying it’s not the safest?? is it Over exaggerated? And should one be fine if they bring camera gear etc
Recently, we've had problems with petty theft especially stealing valuables from tourists, they usually identify them from the rental vehicles. I travel with all my gear in my car, but keep it out of sight. Spread your money and credit cards around, if they do steal your wallet at least you only loose a little. But if you are vigilant and an experienced traveller you shouldn't have any issues.
Is there ATM machines at Windhoek Airport in Windhoek city? Because I’m planning on visiting Namibia and Cape Town in South Africa by the end of October for my two weeks vacation .greetings for Montreal Canada.
Yes there is one in the airport as you go through the arrival doors. Its a Bank Windhoek and dispenses South African Rand which is accepted 1:1 in Namibia. Or if you visit South Africa first you can just bring their money with you
@@NickfrNamibia thank you very much for your response and I hope you have a great day. By the way I really enjoyed watching your great videos. I have learned a lot thank you.
The water is like bribing! No matter what you say ... In Kenya they call it "soda" ... They all try at the roadblocks. Their employers are supposed to cater and care for them. Should be a complete natural part of employing them! Having said that, very informative video 😷🇪🇺🤓
You are funny... Water is not like soda. We get water for free from the tap in Namibia. I always carry extra for when I meet people that need. There's no need for me to try and bribe a police official, I got nothing to hide. Thanks for watching and glad it was informative!!!
@@NickfrNamibia I think I didn't make it clear that I was talking about Kenya .... I also never had anything to hide. Always made sure there was nothing that they could pin me on and yet they asked. If it was only about people being out in the sun and needing water, it would be no problem at all. But in Kenya you have to buy water .... So you are lucky in Namibia 😁
Hi wots cheapest backpackers in Windhoek? Ur gonna settle in Katima? I've been there the Crocs almost ate me. Thought twas wood logs. A gal dived me Outa Zambezi Riva in time
@@NickfrNamibia I remember Katima only had one street. I booked in at geani fowl but didn't pay. They were too scared of me. I used to rob the robbers lol along my way tru Africa.
Namibia has always been a country I wanna travel too. Everyone always ask me why and I always say I don’t know but I really wanna go there. What currency do they use? And can South African money be used there?

Namibian look modern and like europe in Africa.
many parts do, but we also have some bad areas.
You guys need asian migrants like Chinese, Japanese, Koreans or Taiwanese they will be a great contribution to Namibian society..
What was the other language you were speaking (I was assuming Afrikaans)? How do you know which language to speak to people you meet?
correct, Afrikaans
