i think it's important to evaluate our relationship with the technology that is rapidly changing the way we think, create, connect, and distract ourselves... so through this video, i wanted to evaluate my own relationship to technology, especially regarding instagram (which i had a turbulent relationship with for 11 years).
i am not saying that this decision is forever! i think that there are a myriad of ways to use instagram that are perhaps less ego driven / mindless / distracting. i would like to find that way someday. but for now... i enjoy not having it in my life.
i'm curious. what is your relationship to instagram like? do you genuinely enjoy using it? why? do you loathe using it? why? do you feel obligated to use it? why? let me know your answers.

i agree, and it’s nice to know others feel the same. prior to deactivating mine, i was uncomfortable with how forced i was to maintain and curate a single version of myself when we are all such multifaceted individuals. what you said about the maximization of real moments was so well stated. we are the generation that grew up alongside the rise of the digital age, so it makes me wonder how the advancement of technology has detracted from other aspects of life.
this is exactly why i deleted mine at the start of this year! the obligations & interactions stressed me out & i hated feeling like i needed to document everything & be active all the time. now my screen time is down by sm & im not mindlessly scrolling or thinking about random people i haven’t seen in years…maybe one day i’ll return with just an art insta!
I started a blog earlier this month instead, and deactivated instagram yesterday :-)
