I think in the past decade Christmas has been over commercialized... I love seeing families together.. Not worrying about what each person bought for them.. But what they made.. Christmas should be about our Lord Jesus Christ.. I know I'm going to get a lot of wtf.. But I don't care..when our son was born my husband and I never celebrated Christmas like everyone else.. On Christmas day we volunteered or did something for someone else.. That was our gift to our Lord.. And on New Years we would do our gifts.. But we made Christmas about Jesus and only him.. From the time my son could understand we told him the truth about Santa.. I know ppl are going to say why would you do that.. My own family didn't like it.. But I didn't care.. I wanted our son to really know the true meaning of Christmas and what it means.. My son is now 18 and to this day he thanks us for giving him the values we did..
I love this family and the extended family cause they know what Christmas day is all about.. Everyone has different views on how to celebrate or what they want their children to know and its ok if you want your child to imagine that their is a Santa.. There is no wrong way I'm just saying how we did it.. So I don't need a lot of hateful comments..
BTW.. if you wait till New Years.. It's SO MUCH CHEAPER... especially the older your child gets.. Last year my husband spent over 500.00 just for a 17 year old.. And really he didn't get that much.. He got a iPhone, video games, boots, new TV, laptop, clothes, and a watch. We haven't even started this year.. Lol...
Christie Hunt thatsca good question.. We keep ALL present unopened.. Its easy for us cause my husband isn't really close with his family and my family is about 10 hours away.. But if were invited anywhere we will go.. And if were there and we get something then and only then well open them.. But most of my family and friends know.. And we don't volunteer all day. We can do it in the am.. Early afternoon.. Late afternoon.. Or evening.. Depending... Very good question though
