That was the most happy, sad, bittersweet and confusing ending I have ever seen from him since when he fucked a fish and have a fox son

I think he just died on the sea, him returning to Utah is just a dying gasp of an oxygen deprived brain.
People with traumatic events (Traumatic is C!Wilbur's middle name at this point) often imagine things like this. Wilbur imagined a backstory for himself where he is a normal guy, with a normal job, that he one day ran away his normal life in a magical portal that was in the stormy sea. When he was advised to give people some space by C!Phil, Wilbur took it a bit too far (per usual), and made all of this up, for him to have a place to go back to.

I love how Wilbur has changed and acts like it while Tommy acts the same, but yet different. Like he is trying to be what Wilbur wants while also hiding what he's become ever the two years.

My theory for the DSMP was always that the land/world the DSMP operated on was a large anomaly, like the Bermuda triangle, where people would accidentally pass a threshold (with a boat usually) and end up in the smp. I’ve thought this ever since Puffys stream where she found a wrecked ship and a journal in it that was written by her with the last recorded date being the day before she arrived in the SMP. People end up here and when they do they loose all memories regarding their old lives. It explains how new dsmp members appear out of nowhere and as clean slates with no backstories. Ranboo and Wilbur were exceptions, Ranboo’s memory loss persisted after he took residence here, and Wilbur never lost his memory of his past life. I’m guessing that Dream XD created this place for whatever reason (or maybe this is the only place he can look over and have power), and that dream and george were the first people to ever go there.
All this could prob not be canon but it’s the exclamation I operate on to explain the events of the smp

@@vermontmann5216 the ghostbur ending was really nice and I loved the closure (especially since he’s one of my favorite characters), and, as a fan of animation, I loved the fact that it was animated and whoever did that did an amazing job, but the transition to angst really felt weird after going through the Utah bit that felt like less of an ending and more like a joke.

I actually said something similar on Tododokii’s animation today, but I will say it again. Dream smp has become so much more than two friends just deciding to build a country with a potion monopoly. It has become part of us. And even though The lore is mostly done, and Wilbur has left it, and probably many others will as well, I dont think It is really over.
It is never over. Nothing is ever gone until there is no one left to remember. And I dont know about you all, but I will always remember.
I only started watching Dsmp about a year ago, but in that time, so many great things have happened. I made a bunch of friends because of the fandom, I started writing again, and I feel more confident in myself.
My brother laughed a little when I mentioned how I was crying over a block game, but I just told him this.
It’s not the game that makes me cry, Its the story. Because, in our own way, we helped create the story. All of us did. Wether in animations, or fanfics, or whatever else.
The Dream Smp is everyone who was impacted by it, no matter how much or how little.

Idk what to say. This is probably the most saddest ending I've ever seen. Wilbur is now in Utah, USA. (I can't believe that he was an American, like holy cow!) And now Ghostbur and Friend are reunited in the subway.

Okay, but in all honesty, this is a really nice way to end this. It started with two friends making a joke, and it’s ending that way too.

I feel so much pain from this ending. I get that Wilbur wants to go home, and honestly, yeah. Think about it, I really don’t think he can heal in the Dream SMP properly. It’s a really messy place right now and honestly how much do you think Wilbur misses his family in Utah? Or his idk, friends in Utah? How long has he been gone? Is Philza really his real father? Or the father who took him in that he used as a cover to pretend he was really normal. Raised in this world. However, there is one person I feel most bad for, Tommy. Wilbur was really a big inspiration in his life. And now he’s… back home. But, perhaps this experience would help Tommy understand. Understand that he’s himself, his own person. And to help him develop and grow to become independent. Well, as they say, when you’ve lived life to the fullest and most traumatising, settling down and returning to a simpler time is for the best.

The Ghostbur bit at the end was a good closing bit for this arc.
Tommy having a mental break down while Wilbur plans on going far away is just so sad
this is not necessarily his last lore stream and he is not “leaving the smp” he said in the last stream that there will be a season 2 of the dsmp and he will be involved he just won’t go as heavy on the lore

Ironically enough this was the perfect ending. We saw closure for tommy's life with wilbur, and his forgiveness arc.
The whole Utah thing wasn't really meant to explain his background as some sort of revelation, rather act as a catalyst for telling tommy the truth, which is why it's so absurd. Those types of truths are sometimes the hardest to tell, or whatever.
As for Ghostbur, I think it's really symbolic, not just of the plot of the smp but also of wilbur - Ghostbur is a representation of the past, hence being in the subway (reference to Your City Gave Me Asthma), ending with freind and happiness. Wilbur (alive) is about the present and future, be it his arrival in America or his forgiveness for his past self.
In a weird way, while yes, these are all just random nit picks, I can't help but feel this ties in with wilburs life.

Then I thought of those stories where mother kill their kids, wanting to take them a bad world. After watching this and erets new stream ive come to my own conclusion. Wilbur wrote to Eret about the deset, about seeing him in utah. I believe that when people leave the smp or when their times are up. When their story has closed that their transported to the desert in utah. Dream smp in my opinion is a place to find yourself and tell your story. To realize who you are. To make a name. People are sent to the smp for a purpose. some are sent and brought back. AKA the guests or people who arent lore heavy. and finally some are sent there and stay to find out who they really are and what story they can tell. This is why when they die they dont go back to reality. Because in the smp death dosent mean your stories over. Though for ghostbur he was a spawn of wilburs torment, a creature brought to do the opposite of what wilbur did. To make people happy instead of pulling them down. Ghostbur didnt have a life outside of the smp so he stays. Dream smp is a second chance for life. Tho once that chance is over, your brought back to where you began. With the scars of those adventures with you along the way. His name is wilbur soot a man forever cursed to be an average joe until he was given another chance in the smp, he was a king of kings, a man that made works of might but in tow despair. His work decays and is wrecked, boundless and bare. the lone sand of the real world stretch far away, but in his other life. He never really forgived himself.
Now his story is over he is brought to the world he left so long ago. Happy, Finally doing more then working a boring job, he started something. Led something and found himself in ways he never thought he could. Though after countless triumphs and falls he is finally happy to be home. Knowing deep down that his friends will follow in tow.
Btw if your wondering why they forget everything and start as a blank slate. I believe that only some people remember their past, specifically ones that wanna remember it. Wilbur was stuck in limbo for years, he had time to think. Now for the hull smp I believe he remembered some of his past. But those years is when I believe he remembered everything. Now for the ones that dont wanna remember. Getting suddenly sent to the middle of a desert is gonna be pretty jarring lol. Thx for reading :)

My take is this is either wilbur's next ARG or they're filming a live action dream smp in Utah. I am probably wrong on both accounts, but they're the only explanations I could think of.
Unless theyre doing a new story in live action, they wouldnt be able to recreate the whole thing due to Techno passing

I think that it's because Wilbur was split in two the moment he died, the half with the good memories and one with the bad, and that the bad half wanted to rejoin with the good half in the afterlife and thats why it was a desert instead of a train station. He was finally free.

I’m really glad that the people on the smp are exited for the new season ready to make new friends have new lore but I can’t help feeling like it won’t feel the same as the dream smp did, the chaotic kids, the insane Wilbur, the green teletuby who wants power, all the fans making theories, l’manburg, pogtopia, snowchester all these things just make it the smp and it makes me sad that everyones story’s are coming to a end, this ending was good it provided some things we were missing, I’ll still watch the new server I’m sure I’ll like it but it won’t feel the same

Its amazing! First of all I want to say thank you for uploading. I wanted to rewatch the stream but a lot of it was copyrighted.
Second of all this final was amazing! The transition from the van to Phil's work was so smooth and the emotions in that speach. And the end with Ghostbur and friend after the airplane reddit post just hit different.
But I am still angry about one part. "I built a country to keep you safe Tommy". Yeah, what about your son Wilbur? Heh? What about him?

The ending animation really hit me hard once I saw the limbo and then Ghostbur being reunited with Friend. First lore stream I've ever cried for. I will always love Wilbur's DSMP lore.

the plot twist with Utah state is a little bit confusing for me (maybe cause i don't know the newest lore) but still the irl Wilbur cosplaying himself and the animation at the end (by Anni Scivious who also made the "Knee Deep At Atp" cover's clip, good job, keep it up and thank you!) in the tube style of YCGMA and friend's cameo in one stream is a masterpiece.
I like to think they had a goodbye hug tho if they actually did tommy probably wouldnt ever let go but i just like to think they said goodbye that way. I also hc tommy just sits there looking at the sea and cries holding the book near his chest like hes hugging it. I like to think about comfort hugs alot. I probably need one myself.
