Really very nice job... The last chamber and its media will help for removing Nitrate with anaerobic bacteria. it would be better if you put some k type media with aeration in 2nd chamber for better bio-filtration process for removing ammonia and nitrite. Thanks for the video.

He drained and cleaned it all out after he cut up the bamboo (if that was bamboo) so if it added tannins or whatever he cleaned it all out and filled with fresh water before the fish were added.. I have no idea why he would have done that, other than maybe to help treat the walls and floor to try and get rid of any harmful things or residues left from the actual building materials and sealant he used to make the tank with. Some of those things can be harmful and toxic to the fish.
The design of the water flow holes in the filter tank is wrong. One should be above the retaining wall and the other should be below the retaining wall. The outlet pipe of the upper filter tank should be under the filter stone, and there are no filtering plants.

That' a nice work. Excellent result. But I don't undestand why there is foam on the water (at the end of the video) since foam means pollution, slimy things and dirty water. The water is fresh as we xan see, so why...? Anyway, nice construction

Does anybody know what the purpose of soaking the bamboo was? I'm assuming it absorbs the lyme that the fresh concrete leaches but that's just an educated guess.
For people who don’t know. The banna tree sucks up the cement toxic chemicals lol. You can buy products to get rid of it but he has many bananas trees for free so why buy. You can’t expect fill water in and put fish in right away. The cement release toxic chemicalz and kill fish right away
Your right about it! It was done for a reason. Your educated guess was on point! Before there was man made chemicals to get rid of these cement toxic there was natural remedies to do this.
It’s to help with the PH balance in new built cement/concrete ponds. Floating them in the water for a few days to a week or so will make the pond be able to accommodate fish.

those are copped banana stems, not bamboos.. maybe for removing paint smell and other chemical waste from waterproof paint

because the design lacks the bottom and face filters for the aquarium..not up to standard for koi ponds.

Is pond cycled already? I could have run the pump for at least a week with the biological medias first before adding the koi.

The koi's is water temperature shock because you did not acclimate into the water before you put in fishpond
Video was 16 min. Long. With letting cement cure paint dry
Morter set. Lots of lots of editing. Highly possible they were acclimated, Just not shown.
If the koi's is good condition they dont stay on one side
