Okay so this video changed my life. Bought the ARCA car tonight and did some races against AI at various tracks and had fun oval racing for the first time ever.

I think a 40-lap ARCA race without cautions and no spare tires is a good, intensive way to learn tire management. I prefer other series but ARCA fixed is my go-to when I just want to jump in and have fun.

For me, it is all the longer races.
NextGen C Class, Xfinity Open, and Gen4.
For me it must include Cautions. NASCAR is about strategy and etc. Taking yellow flags out of the equation spoils the fun for me.
Nothing worse, than You have to check up for a wreck ahead to safely pass them around, watching people ahead of it are just driving off to the sunset, making Your race now just a solo driving around the corners...

Since ARCA is still a beginner series a lot of iRatings that run it are kinda low. I’m a 2-2.5k kind of driver and most of the times I end up in top split and feel like I don’t belong there but for the most part the racing is fun.

If you enjoy a lot of what you are talking about for ARCA, 87 Legends would be right up your alley. Plus with the longest length official races of all ovals series outside of NIS, it makes long run races, tire saving, and skill so important. Legends are 👑 for me

I used to absolutely love NiS. I also love long runs and, once you got passed the first 10% of the race, you typically get that. For instance, this year’s Coke 600, I ran over 200 laps straight of green flag racing. It was awesome.
However, NiS is no longer my favorite. That has to go to the Gen 4 cup. I used to not like driving loose race cars (mainly because I didn’t know how) but now, that is the most fun car on the sim. I enjoy gen 4 races too. It has a perfect race length, and most races are fairly clean.

So far, my favorite series are the NASCAR trucks (which I haven't been able to run for a while) because they're approachable but still take skill to be good with, the GT4s for being really easy to learn and control (at least the BMW I got is), and the MX-5s for being fun while not being too challenging. The Gen 4s are fun at Talladega, even though I tend to get caught up in everyone else's crashes there. XD

Folks may think ARCA is a "beginner" series. But, looking at the HUGE number of A-Class drivers listed in the series standings as well as in race sessions. ARCA might as well be an A-Class series.
I've gravitated over towards ARCA and the CARS Late Model Series because I've grown tired of the A-Cup races.
In the real world, if the Coke 400 and Daytona 500 avg 5-6 cautions per race. The iRacing Offical races are seeing double that, running 50% of real world race.
ARCA and CARS does have it's fair share of incidents, but the racing overall has simply been better and more fun to be honest. The only place I've seem the number of cautions mirror real world races has been in the Leagues. The attitude of the crowd who run ARCA and particularly in CARS has been a whole better as well.
Both series appear to attract players who take their Race Craft more seriously than Cup and Xfinity.

God damn I love the Gen 4. Can’t wait for the update to come which will bring it closer to mid-2000s NASCAR.
Similarly I’ve done a few races in the 87s and they’re the same race length as Gen 4, but the handling is quite different. You still need to save tyres (and maybe fuel to run 80 laps without pitting if that’s your jam) so the skills transfer between the two series quite well.
I absolutely love it when you get 30 laps deep into a 40 lap run and you have plenty of grip, and start ripping through the top 10 who burned their tyres early. It’s so gooood.

    • @rarewhiteape
      @rarewhiteape 9 месяцев назад +2

@@lordjuvenile9068 as far as I know they will be changing the car model to look more accurate to the real NASCAR bodies, as the Gen 4 is based off an old B Class car from 2009. I'm not sure about physics updates or anything.

I am gonna be basic here. But I love the truck series. You get bad apples from time to time. But at like 3am I run with a bunch of guys who just like to chill out and have fun, loving racing for racing.
Sure it has the iPacing problem. But I have like 11 guys that it just makes me happier to see them load into a session.

gen 4 and xfinity are currently my favorites, with gen 4 having the edge solely because there's more ovals in the rotation. I've been fortunate to get plenty of racing with both cars on long runs, and green flag pit stops are the best fun imo, but every once in a while messing up the plan with a yellow and having pit stops under caution spice things up a lot in a way that I really enjoy. plus I got my first 3 wins in both these cars this season

Thats awesome dude i also love the series, thats how I found you dude those Arca guides. I wonder how you'll feel about the cars after Arca getting updated to Gen 6 body and Gen 4 gets updated to an actual of that era cup car. Im really curious about how those updates are gonna work.

My biggest problem with arca, is when you have to slow to avoid a wreck, you can never gain any time back to be competitive. At least with trucks, with cautions, you have a chance to be competitive again.

I used to do A LOT of dirt road racing so I loved being loose and trying my best to keep the car in and not slide too much. I love ARCA and its pretty much the only oval series I race now that I kind of fell out of love with NiS after doing it for a full season. The car is too unpredictable and saving a car is like going to the lottery not to mention the setups are incredibly loose with the steering being way too vague and the car not feeling connected to the ground at all. Feels like once you start sliding you never stop.
ARCA has this really nice middle ground to where the setups can be managed nicely and the car is an easy to learn but hard to master type thing. There's no better feeling than saving your tires and charging up to the front and even contending for the lead. Heck, I think the short tracks in the ARCA car is awesome when people understand the bumpers not lining up. ARCA going to Southern National and trying to not heat up the right rear was some of the most fun I've ever had on iRacing.
I'm also really starting to like the Kia Optima. The car sucks to drive and understeers terribly but it's so consistently bad that you know what's going to happen when put in certain situations. If the people in Fanatec Global weren't as dumb as they are it would easily be one of the best road series on iRacing. Loads of fun at a nice flowing place like Lime Rock. Absolutely terrible at a place with tight chicanes like Monza though.

I agree with your take.. with my limited time to race I want a guaranteed long run...
Also if you're married and have kids it's predictable where I can tell my wife/kids "hey I'm going to be racing from from :45 to :16 don't bother me" etc.

I recently got my B oval license and after a full season of running Arca/Gen4 I started in the Xfinity cars….after two races I went back to the Gen 4. It’s just so much fun to drive and I do prefer longer races where strategy plays a part but also requiring more tire management. Just goes to show that always wanting to take that next step up in classes may make you realize where you were was even more fun

To me ARCA is just a SR/IR killer.

Yes, i agree that arca racing is fun and 1 of the most fun oval series, but the car is very hard to control for me so i can't just enjoy it - i need to fight with my car every race
That's why i like modern nascar series (next gen, trucks, xfinity) more. Well, i'm playing iracing for 4 weeks only saw this is maybe just bcs i'm a noob

gen 6 cup was my #1 go to race but i hate the new gen, so arca came my #1 race now and xfinity #2 of my time. gen 4 depending on track, anything else i do is just time fillers.
