The most important thing in any survival situation is state of mind. if you are panicked . no amount of gear will help. deep breath remain calm always plan ahead for that just in case moment.something i also do is carry a few off cuts of 2x4 etc help full if you need to change a tyre on soft ground but also bone dry and a great start if you need to make a fire. good video and good advise.

I suggest in addition to the fire kit, to carry a small amount of kindling and even a few well split pieces of hardwood to build a fire. Even a section of newspaper can also help to get your fire going. Having this available can facilitate a fire when it’s bitter cold out, it’s getting dark, and all the trees are wet or covered in snow. Hey, you’re in a vehicle and it’s not a backpacking trip! You have the room!
