I think we do need to recognise though that Nalani is going through the same thing if not worse as Devi. She just lost her husband to and she hasn’t worked through that trauma and is having to raise Devi. I think her pain and sadness is overlooked a lot here

I think one of the reasons that the emotional or sad moments from the show are so impactful is because it’s largely a comedy. But when it gets sad, they LET IT SINK IN. They do not in any way undercut those emotional moments with a joke, so when it hits, it hits HARD. This pattern will continue. 🩵
