This video is really helpful. May I ask a question? What is the timing/moment of turning the horse's shoulder? when the inside or outside front leg lands on the ground? or when the inside hind lands?
Shoulder control is something we do all the time - so even though you may be turning from E to B is a significant turn, might be different from adjusting the shoulders - it really isn't! The turns that you do are all the same - it's just the size of the turn that is different. In terms of when you turn the shoulders - it's not when the outside leg is in a certain position, because actually, you are adjusting and moving those shoulders in your 'half halt' almost every single step of the way.
My trainer says “ you ride both sides of the horse not just one” which I tend to do. I am just learning about inside leg to outside reins. My horse tends to bulge out her right shoulder and my poor legs can’t push her to stop that 😔
Your explanation of concepts is amazing. If only all of the trainers out there were able to get those concepts understood by their students.
thank you so much!! :)
