To be fair, 3 modern steam ships were ready to sail, but the international backlash was such that the Kingdom of Italy backed down, as we literally just went and tried to grab some land without a "valid reason." You see, the "valid reason" changes everything. (Aka, we had no excuse whatsoever to keep up a facade of legitimacy to the claim.)
Thing is, Italy actually had the strongest fleet in the mediterranean at the time that even worried the British in Eygpt. Literal stupidity on their part not to sail it over🤣
