  • In this Preview of "The Great I AM Revealed", Nehemia Gordon leaves Hebrew Masoretic manuscripts behind and goes back to the basics of the Hebrew language. In this study Nehemia explains how the ‘I AM’ passage in Exodus 3:14 teaches us the meaning of God's holy Name. We will see how the great ‘I AM’ was understood by ancient Jews and how this is the key to deciphering both the meaning of YHVH and its pronunciation. Lynell wrote: “Fascinating study on The Great 'I am' Revealed. Nehemia Gordon presents empirical evidence rather than theory concerning the name of God. He dispels myths and Facebook made-up Hebrew to reveal the name of Yehovah. Considerable evidence presented with logical thought make this a lecture not to be missed.”

Just to be clear:ahyah, ahovah, ahyeh are the first person singular forms, And yhyah,.yhovah yhyeh are the 3rd person masculine neuter forms.. However the emphatic pronouns are more usually used for the present and perfect/past senses. Or rather the next to and in front of senses, with the behind or unknown future sense being the yod form.. in some dialects the Heath is so rough that the yod may also just be phonetically de-emphasised in the 3rd person form.❤️🤗

amazing, thanks for this Nehemia... Hey I noticed Hebrew Matthew it's Yeshua, also John... but Hebrew Revelations (vatican junk drawer) it's the longer "Yehoshua"... Why the difference? Is it that the copy is a different time period? Is the writer making a more obvious link to his names meaning Yehova saves? or do you have any thoughts on why the differences? We are talking about the same writer, Yehochanan

Yehoshua is a play on Joshua... the prophet ljke unto Moses that leads the people into Israel. Revelation is structured like Joshua and entirely typoligical of the end times as well. He pulled a Moses role in the 1st coming. Not Moses only, but providing example.
Whether thats why or not i can only offer a speculation. Regardless, John was mystical like that and highly stylized both works with specific design details with numbers and names.

Jews through all ages knew the meaning of God's name: it is "He will be, is, was" or somewhat more accurately "He shall prove to be as he is and was". This is no secret and Jewish people freely speak of its meaning, as there is no rabbinical ban on speaking about it. The ban only applies to its pronunciation . It is even incorporated into one of the most famous and beautiful Jewish hymns "ADON OLAM", and Jewish children learn the words from early on. One line reads "v'hu hayAH v'hu HOVeh v'hu Yih'yeh b'tif'arah" (And he was, and he is, and he will be in glory). The name is formed by taking a part of each of the three tenses of the verb "to be", so the name is actually a contraction of the three, Y+HV+H. The pronunciation is Y'HOVAH for some Y'HOWAH

Another good and informative video about the divine name Yehovah. Would be good to elaborate about how "I AM" is a very bad translation as the Hebrew "Ayer Asher Ayer" is more accurately translated as "I will be" You can see this two verses earlier in Ex 3:12 where Ayer is translated as "I will" and NOT as "I am" The Jesus is God believers will mistakenly try to tie in the erroneous "I am" at Ex 3:14 and try to link it to John 8:58 where Jesus said "Ego-Eimi" (I am) in answer to a question about his age.
By the way, if my memory serves me correct, there are NO capitals in the ancient Hebrew so less reason to capitalise the inaccurate I AM in Ex 3:14

Question to JWs?? Please could you explain. John 20 v 24-25. How many nails were in Jesus hands???
Because in Every bible version it is Nails, i.e. Plural???

    • @thambone30
      @thambone30 5 лет назад +1

Some have tried to use the plural "nails" in Jn 20:25 as evidence that Jesus was hung on a cross is to force their own presupposition onto the text. Yet to do this they must completely ignore all logical alternatives and more importantly they must ignore the explicit statements of Scripture.
First, the Bible explicitly states that Jesus was hung on a STAUROS or XYLON. According to Greek dictionaries these words ALWAYS denote a stake or pole:
"Both words disagree with the modern idea of a cross...The stauros was simply an upright pale or stake...Stauroo never means two pieces of wood joining each other at any angle. Even the Latin word crux means a mere stake." --A Critical Lexicon, E.W.Bullinger
"There is not a single sentence in the New testament, which, in the original Greek, bears even indirect evidence to the effect that the stauros used in the case of Jesus was other than one piece of timber. It is not a little misleading upon the part of our teachers to translate the word stauros as "cross"...honesty demands that we should no longer translate as "cross" a word which at the time our Gospels were written did not necessarily signify something cross-shaped. And it is equally incumbent upon us, from a moral point of view, that we should cease to render as "crucify" or "crucified" words which never bore any such meaning."
W.E.Vines Expository Dictionary says: "STAUROS....denotes, primarily, an upright pale or stake. ...originally to be distinguished from the ecclesiastical form of a two beamed cross...By the middle of the 3rd cent. A.D. the churches had either DEPARTED FROM, OR HAD TRAVESTIED, certain doctrines of the Christian faith...pagans were permitted largely to retain their pagan signs and symbols."
So, using the plural "nails" to claim that Jesus was hung on a cross would be to contradict the explicit teaching of the bible. Witnesses teach the explicit biblical statements that Jesus was hung on a "stake." Teaching that he was hung on a cross is absolutely unbiblical.
Also, Witnesses are not dogmatic about how many nails were used in the arms. Two could have been used. In fact, there is actually archeological evidence that four nails could have been used, two in the hands placed on both sides of a stake and two similarly in the feet. This was pointed out in a WT article: w87 8/15 (The archaeological evidence was of an leg bone with one nail stuck *sideways* into the ankle. Israel Exploration Journal 1985, Volume 35, pages 22-7). Historical facts show that the Romans often put individuals to death on posts having no crossbars.
Further, grammatically the plural "nails" could have meant a nail through each hand, or might have simply included both nail prints in ‘his hands and his feet.' Thomas' use of the plural “nails” does not have to be understood as a precise description indicating that each of Jesus' hands was pierced by a separate nail. In Luke 24:39 Jesus said: "See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself." This suggests that Christ's feet also were nailed. Since Thomas made no mention of nail prints in Jesus' feet, his use of the plural "nail's" could have been a general reference to multiple nails used in impaling Jesus.
The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia says: “The exact number of nails used . . . has been the subject of considerable speculation. In the earliest depictions of the crucifixion Jesus’ feet are shown separately nailed, but in later ones they are crossed and affixed to the upright with one nail.”
The Cyclopaedia of Biblical, Theological, and Ecclesiastical Literature, by M’Clintock and Strong, comments: “Much time and trouble have been wasted in disputing as to whether three or four nails were used in fastening the Lord. “-Volume II, page 580.
Claiming that two nails in the arms MUST mean crucifixion on a cross is to illogically force our favored interpretation while ignoring the evidence for other conclusions. This is a fallacious form of reasoning and eisogesis.
So, Thomas' statement cannot be used to show the Jesus was executed upon a cross, since it is just as reasonable to believe Christ was impaled to a stake with a separate nail in each arm.
What is the most important thing for Christians is how the Cross was introduced into Christianity. Notice again that the above quote from Vine’s Dictionary says that the cross was adopted after the church had “either DEPARTED FROM, OR HAD TRAVESTIED, certain doctrines of the Christian faith...pagans were permitted largely to retain their pagan signs and symbols."
The cross had been used in Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek and Roman paganism for centuries. It was a common emblem in sun worship. The adoption of the cross into Christianity can be traced directly to the Roman Emperor Constantine three hundred years after Christ. Constantine was not a “Christian” when he saw a vision of a cross which he adopted as his victory sign. Rather he was still a Sun-God worshiper at the head of an army of Sun-God worshipers. Although he later mandated this corrupted form of "Christianity" as the national religion, he was not converted until his death.
So the use of the cross was a not a tradition from God, but a corruption of true Christianity. This is proven by solid evidence from history and archaeology:
"The universal use of the sign of the cross makes more poignant the striking lack of crosses in early Christian remains. Most scholars now agree that the cross, as an artistic reference to the passion event, cannot be found prior to the time of Constantine."--Evidence of Church Life Before Constantine (1985), by Professor Graydon F. Snyder
Two hundred years after Christ the Christian writer Minucius Felix wrote to the pagans in Octavius and revealed the attitude that early Christians had toward the cross up to that time: "Crosses, moreover, we neither worship nor wish for. You, indeed, who consecrate gods of wood, adore wooden crosses perhaps as parts of your gods. . . . Your victorious trophies not only imitate the appearance of a simple cross, but also that of a man affixed to it." (The Ante- Nicene Fathers, Vol. 4, p. 191)
Notice, that this early church father said that Christians did not have crosses and never thought of having one. Only pagans at that time used it.
The apostate Christianity that arose several hundred years after Christ decided to adopt the pagan symbol for the god Tammuz and use it for worship in their religion. When the Bible was translated into modern languages the mistranslation of "cross" was inserted because of Roman Catholic tradition.
Should Christians venerate such a symbol as pagans have in the past? The Scriptures are clear as to what True worshipers are to do with sacred objects from false religion. Does it say: "Adopt them and change their meaning"?
2 Cor.6:14-18: "Do not link up with unbelievers and try to work with them...What business can a believer have with an unbeliever? What agreement can we have with idols? That is why the Lord has said, ‘Leave them; separate yourselves from them; DON'T TOUCH THEIR FILTHY THINGS, and I will welcome you, and you shall be my sons and daughters.'"-NLT (Cf. Deut. 12:30,31, Ex. 20:4,5, 1 Cor.10:14; Ex.20:4,5.)
God does not tolerate mixing of idolatrous practices with true worship, as is illustrated by his condemnation of calf worship, even though the Israelites said they were still worshiping the True God. But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe." NOTICE he says "NAIL" marks , and does not say how many were used....it could have been "ONE NAIL" with Jesus hands crossed over each other......unless you were there you will never know !

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever. 9 Do not be led astray by various and strange teachings,
Do you see a difference in Christ the Son of the Living God vs Jesus is God in the Flesh. There are two teachings The Spirit of Error and The Spirit of Truth.
Matthew 16:20 Then he sternly instructed the disciples not to tell anybody that he was the Christ.
The Spirit of Error teaches Jesus is God who came in the flesh.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those not acknowledging Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.
The Spirit of Truth teaches Jesus Christ came in the flesh.
Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 In response Jesus said to him: “Happy you are, Simon son of Joʹnah, because flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but my Father in the heavens did. 18 Also, I say to you: You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my congregation, and the gates of the Grave will not overpower it. 19 I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of the heavens, and whatever you may bind on earth will already be bound in the heavens, and whatever you may loosen on earth will already be loosened in the heavens.” 20 Then he sternly instructed the disciples not to tell anybody that he was the Christ.

So the declension forms for the verb are the letters in YHWH. And again Ehyeh is YHWH, so the yod in Yihyeh, that is the He in He will be is YHWH. . And finally the hwh is the emphatic he is , and the Hyh is the emphatic he was. .
If we concretise these distinctions in Hebrew thought: he is in front of you, he is besides you and he is behind you. .
In John 1 Elohim,He beside you emphatically the Word was! The word was and is and will be Elohim exact representative, here on earth as Yshuah and on every planet in every star system throughout the known universe as the Word

It is in my mind that the Israelites never used the Great "I AM" that the Christians use in the new testament to try to proclaim that "Jesus" is "God in the flesh" because he said "I AM".
Yehovah said that to Moshe 2 times before giving the full name Yehovah. I have never found an instance of the Israelites using the "I AM" instead of Yehovah.
    Hoping I am correct?

    • @JoshDub78
      @JoshDub78 4 года назад

If you watch the whole teaching he explains why the translation says "I AM"...Essentially "I AM" and "I will Be" are the same in Hebrew and he talks about something called the "imperfect" in grammar.
Still, you may be right. However, is it not Jewish tradition to speak the first part of a passage to convey the whole passage? So when Jesus says "Before Abraham was, I AM" or "Before Abraham was, Ehyeh" or in Greek "Before Abraham was, Ego eimi"..He was speaking the first part of verse 3:14 and claiming Himself to be Yehovah. In fact those who heard Him picked up rocks to stone Him...they knew exactly what He meant and it eventually got Him crucified.
Later, He is literally referred to as the One "Who was, Who is, and is to come". What does "I will be" and "HE will be" mean? It seems obvious to me. "I am he, that I was, and in the future will be"...Jesus said the words "so you will know that I Am He" several times. Again, saying those words and referring to Himself that way got Him crucified because they all knew what He was saying, and they counted it as blasphemy.
My point being, He likely referred to the first part of the verse knowing who His audience was...which was customary to do anyway. Remember, he often spoke in parables and was deliberately cryptic. But, that is a whole other discussion...it's pretty fascinating, why He would do that though.

There are alot more than the 7 specific I AM claims to point to Jesus being YHVH. Thats just a plain fact in thats the sense of how each Gospel writer and Paul taught him. Jesus claims this himself CONSTANTLY but its way more subtle unless youre extremely familar with old testament. Theres a reason the Pharisees try to stone him every time he does that. They always understand what hes doing too and the text points that out.

Ok so why does the Bible say Jehovah in some places and others YHWH? That leads me to believe YHWH is a different name. I don't know Hebrew, I'm just trying to understand. I've been taught YHWH is Yahweh. And which is it YHWH or YHVH? Is one Yahweh and the other Yehovah?

It’s Yehovah (YHVH). YHWH is based on the Arabic influence on Hebrew. Yahweh is possibly the name of an Egyptian god (proposed by the one who introduced the name - Gesenius) and the name came from Greek sources and other pagan sources. Yehovah is based solely on Hebrew sources, and there’s no ancient Hebrew source supporting Yahweh, only modern sources pointing to the pagan sources and Gesenius.

Yes it is.. YHVH Is the four consonants known as the tetragrammaton..
God told Moses in Exodus 3 v 15 What to say to the Israelites, when he went back to egypt..
The tetragrammaton is made up of 4 Hebrew consonants, YUD, HAY, VAV, HAY.
It is the vowel points that give the correct pronounciation.
I must tell you that Nehemiah and his team, have found the True pronounciation of Gods name, with the correct vowel points, in over 2,000 ancient Hebrew manuscripts.
      Yes that`s 2,000.
It is in the old testament over 6,000 times.
It is correctly pronouced as YEHOVAH.
The vowels are not as some people say taken from ADONAI.
ADONAI just means Lord or sovereign.
The Jehovahs witnesses have promoted the name of God for well over 100 years, but the first letter is a Y and not a J, The J is basically a Germanic derivative.

      the name is a contraction
      of three statements
(he who will be) yihyeh -ye
      (he who is) hoveh -hov
(he who was) hayah - ah
      Ye'hov'ah.
he said that hoveh means he is
hovah means she is (not destruction)
      hovah part of Yehovah
is not from hovah (she is)
      its from the contraction
      of hoveh and hayah

It's amazing that God's Name could be eliminated with such malice by both the
Christian and Jewish Religious Leaders for the purpose of supporting their
superstitions and dogmas such as the Trinity.
As Nehemiah has mentioned in earlier videos , the most common name found
in the Bible by far is Yehovah / Jehovah , which was found in over 7000 places..
It's no wonder Nehemiah has refered to it as a conspiracy , since that's exactly what
it is. It takes an incredible effort of manipulation , deception , dishonesty and deceit
to accomplish such a feat as eliminating the Name of The God of the Bible.
And yet , we can find 10,000's names of false gods named after frogs , fish ,
cows , lightning and so forth , but not the only Almighty God who pronounced
his name as Yehovah for eternity,
Throughout History , both Jews and Christians silenced those that claimed that God;s
Name was Yehovah / Jehovah and branded them as heretics and silenced them
with threats of death or death itself.

    The Mind of Christ
    (Isaiah 52:13-15)Philippians 2 v 5-11
5Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus:
6Who, existing in the form of YEHOVAH.
did not consider equality with YEHOVAH
    something to be grasped,
    7but emptied Himself,
taking the form of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
8And being found in appearance as a man,
    He humbled Himself
    and became obedient to death-
    even death on a cross.
9Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place
and gave Him the name above all names,
10that at the name of Jesus/YESHUA every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11and every tongue confess that Jesus/ YESHUA Christ is Lord,
to the glory of YEHOVAH the Father.
