The shop videos are what I always liked most from Matt's Off-road. Glad to see you doing your own thing.
Exactly 💯
Tom goes about things the right way although braille sometimes works too
Happy to see this
Get rrr dunn Tom Tom
Sema quality rig no weld protection on anything? Love the work either way
agreed - happy to watch tom doing what he does best, the fabricating of the power steering bracket especially was such a difference from how matt does it - not that one is right and another wrong, i just appreciate tom's attention to detail (ok maybe its overkill but it's how i roll). keep it up tom, you're the man
I agree, I like the in the shop videos best!!
Only at Mat it turned into a clownery
You know it’s gonna be a killer Tom Tom build when the white board comes out.
Yeah, someone will most likely die after he touches a car.😂😂😂
The owner's trust in you Tom to work on his SEMA Jeep is a testament to your precision and work ethic!
We got to admit that there's everything to love about Tom Tom. He's smart, confident, knowledgeable and a very result oriented. I can't wait to see his channel hit 500k subs or even a million subscribers before the year ends. Keep grinding sir. Africa No.1 fan here. ✌️✌️🇰🇪🇰🇪
There ain't no Jeep like a 1979 Wagoneer SEMA Jeep!
Whoever is doing the sound mixing for these videos is operating on a whole different level than most youtubers, outstanding job. The end of the last video and the bell sound in this one, my mans putting in work.
I think that bell sound is Tom tapping the pully with the wrench. I could be wrong.
@@DacDac-w7r you're right, it is.
It's his microphone and the shop...notice the acoustics of the shop and no unnecessary notice from air compressor and other equipment plus tom is there by himself....!!!!
@@DacDac-w7r Yes you are correct about the bell sound, but I think there is intention to keeping it in the edit. Go back and look at the last video as well at the end where the music fades out and the compressor noise is there, its art with an understanding of science imo.
You sir, are definitely not an audio technician.
You just proved that the last 10% of most jobs takes 90% of your time & effort.
Your mastery of fabrication shows in your approach and execution of tasks.
Thanks for sharing.
My favorite part of this video was when you made something out of nothing for the steering! Great time watching you guys!
"Does that look level?"
OMG. Of all the things I expected you to bust a laser level out for...
…overnighted…in 4 days! 😂Nothing better than spending Sundays in Tom Tom’s Shop…👊
"Validated not just for me but for hoarders everywhere" thanks i needed that
And me.... 😊
I’m amazed at how much you manage to get done without a second set of hands.
Got it, Angela is your second set of hands.
Between you and Colt, I think you guys are the best at explaining and installing parts. I will probably never do almost anything that you guys are doing, but it's fun to learn and watch.
Safety glasses in use…. Imagine that. Enjoying the content.
When overnight takes 4 days you know you live somewhere that’s pretty nice.
A few things you could maybe do in the future. When welding close to something like that little U-joint, wrap a wet rag around it, helps keeps some heat off the joint. Also when pouting with a gallon jug, turn it flat, it helps keep it from surge splashing. Also, a funnel is your friend!
Wondering why it doesn't have a "Z" bar type drag link to make the link more parallel?
If that Jeep had any death wobble, it's now gone. The steering assist kinda acts like a Steering dampener on steroids! And yes, really helps to turn the Jeep in tough places.
I’d trust Tom Tom to upgrade anything on my vehicle
If I had the money I'd commission Tom to turn an old 50's convertible into a rock-crawler.
Sort of like the Morvair but for fun instead of recovery.
100% agree.
The lug nut method to install studs is perfectly fine as long as you dont damage threads, the studs are pre stretched from the factory. Just dont exceed the torque of the lug nuts.
A Nuclear Physicists can do anything for me and my family anytime. “A true life mad scientist.”
@@patrickgreen2361 Tom Tom has a bright future if he can avoid entangling alliances with back stabbing rivals.
Tom get yourself a cheap hot gun when your trying to figure out that pump mount hot gun the cardboard directly to the pump trim it to fit mount location and you got a template and its only hot glue it will come right off
Wish I lived closer.
I like you to do some upgrades for me.
Tom Tom, you need some posters or something on your garage walls! Always feels like you're working in somebody's apartment, those naked walls need some love!
near end of vid edit - Hell yeah, finally getting some wall decorations! 👍🏼
Thanks, there should be more going up soon.
@@tomtomsshop Maybe start getting viewers from around the globe to send you license plates from their countries? I’ll happily send you one from my home state Tasmania, Australia. You’ve got HEAPS of space to fill!
Hoarders Unite! My wife complains about the "junk" but I know I'll need that little thingamajig on the right side of the third shelf from the top some day. Besides, it's all fairly well organized and neat to a certain extent (if you don't look directly at it).😁
Craftsman have parts.. for everything.. nothing else..
I love the old Wagoneers. My dad had a 1988 Grand Wagoneer. It was a big beautiful burgundy beast with the ‘wood’ paneling on the sides and all the chrome. And even stock it was very capable when the pavement ended. It turned heads before the SUV invasion of the suburbs took hold.
Mate, I gotta admit I miss you at MORR and the banter with you and Matt… But, I’m loving this channel and it was a natural step to head out alone. You’ve nailed it. Have watched all the episodes and will stick with you.
This Jeep is awesome! Keep up the great work, mate.
Greetings from Tasmania, Australia
This Wagoneer is amazing! I have a 77 Jeep J20 Pickup that needs a lot of work. I wish I could have mine built out like this.😁 Truly beautiful!
Hoarders of the world rejoice! 😎
pb&j is nostalgia and hits the mark every time
The crusty ends of the loaf of bread were always my favorites for a PB&J!
"Hoarder validation!" THANK YOU for that. 👍
Who else was tensing up with Tom when he was pushing the lines down on the brass.
22:00 the washer!
Good morning from New Zealand TOM TOM
Tom Tom when I find my dream vehicle to turn into the ultimate off road rig I’m bring it to you for the build!
It took me years to realize that hoarding is not actually a good thing. My hoarders stash is an airplane hangar full of engines, transmissions steering gear springs heads mechanical treasures and nonsence. What I have found is the stash worries my kids because when I tip; over they have to figure out why I saved all this junk! That is gives me a laugh, My pile is now priceless as everything I have will cause them to wonder how long I was crazy! That pile of parts you chopped up to make a throw away temporary fixjust equaled several hours of work that probably frustrated you because of it's temporary nature. Dissatisfied you because you knew the correct way was the best way. I have learned that anything that does not fit your standards is not worth doing in the first place. Not one part of a job finished is worth risking injury or damage while being used, but you know that! Great content keep it up.
Great job Tom Tom!😂
Hey Tom, just a suggestion, when you build all those brackets round off the sharp c I rners and cut edges. Your hands and fingers will appreciate not having all those sharp edges when you are working in tight spaces plus it just looks more professional.
I thought it was pretty obvious that he was softening all the sharp edges and corners with the little air grinder.
He was deburring the edges and removing any ragged bits but I am talking about rounding over any corners that did not need to remain at 90 degrees. A good example would be the reservoir mount he built. The piece of angle coming out from the fender that the tank fastened too had a one end that stuck out into the engine bay that was a sharp 90 deg. and looked like it was perfect for snagging your arm or hand any time you had to work on any part below it. I have ripped myself up too many times trying to work around stuff like that to want to see it happen to anyone else.
Thanks Angela
Skills and patience
its a good day when a tom tom video comes out.
Tom is the kind of neighbor I would like to have.
The Professor doing his thing…
A few items to address:
Hoarding - having an axle for 15 years, then using it on a project from the guy that you bought it from!
Trimming the claws on Matt's hammer - it was in one of Tom Tom's first videos.
Installing lug bolts - we always pulled them in with a washer and lug nut, but we used a torque wrench.
I like that Tom Tom's approach to every job is as if it were going to SEMA. Even fixing yard equipment for a neighbor.
Great channel! Thank you!
Love your channel Tom. Keep it up.
Really enjoy the struggles like the rest of us. Then adapting and making it work.
Love your channel. Really cool how you explained your departure from MORR. Thumbs up to your wife's help on the channel! Love Matt's channel also. You guys are good entertainment and teachers!!! Thanks so much
.... that's quite a snazzy little parts chaser you got there, Tom Tom!
Need some equipment sponsors. Great job
Refreshing to see a guy measure and mark before drilling holes.
Love You Tom and Your Channel Brother ❤️
God Bless You & Your Family My Friend 🙏
One of the best things you’ve ever made.
Tom Tom, Mr fabricator. Looks great
Been waiting for your video all week. Thanks Tom Tom
I dig the full size Jeeps. Built a 77 Waggy and a 76 Chief back in the day when you could still find AMC parts at yards. My stuff was way more primitive than this wagon but still on tons and built to fit through the 6'9" door of my garage while on 38s and 40s respectively. That was almost 20 years ago and I wouldn't cut them up now
Very cool
I don't know who does your editing but I appreciate the flow of your videos! Nice work & Thank you for sharing
I watch many videos covering a number of interests on weekends and this one is the best I've seen.
You are a wizard TomTom!!
From nuclear engineer to gearhead fabricator, Tom's a perpetual motion machine of learning and problem solving.
Also very good job whoever's on the camera (wife, Jenny?).
Tom you’re quickly becoming one of my favorite channels… Keep up the great work
good thing tom is a qualified engineer cause he just engineered the crap out of this buld
Love how calm you are in the face of adversity, Tom. I wish I handled stress as well as you do. Nice job!!!
10:55 Concrete nails make an excellent center punch! .. They are REALLY hard steel, cheap as dirt so you don't have to worry about losing them! :)
that's good when a vehicle sounds like a singing bowl
I would love to have my old 68 Wagoneer back!
Two words, Tom: safety glasses (9:37)
man that wagoneer was an EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER, glad we had a happy ending
Another excellent and entertaining video. Thanks, Tom (and Mrs.). Side note: It may be time for a little shop organization before it becomes a safety hazard for you...
10:22 I remember from watching TV shows at my Grandmother's house (We had no TV whe was kid) .. the in America there is no differentiation between Jams and Jellies, you call them all Jelly! :)
In Canada Jam has bits of fruit in it even some whole pieces for smaller berries, Whereas Jelly is made with JUST the juice of fruits or berries, no bits and pieces in it.
Jelly is more rare, so usually when you have PB&J it's actually Jam :)
Love this channel! Your ingenuity and attention to detail works for me. I’m not that intelligent but I am a one person show so watching you come up with how to solutions is very helpful.
Thanks Tom Tom.
Watching Tom do such precise work is so cool😊
Camera person doing excellent work. Who is it?
The patience you have when everything went wrong at the end is incredible! I love the engineering to make it all happen. Great work.
That Roll cage is sweet
The one thing you have with this channel, Tom is your explanations as to what you're doing. Everyone else basically describes the 'what' you move into the 'why' and that's going to make your channel a go-to for the MoRR and associated channels!
Angela's eyes match the Jeep's paint color. 🙂
I lived in the NE AZ mountains several years, not terribly far from your area in UT (at least not far in “western” terms). People in other areas, especially back east, just don’t understand that “overnight” is not ALWAYS “overnight”. Sometimes you get it when you get it! Glad you finally got your parts, sorry for the misfit.
I like that name for that jeep and like the color of that jeep. You look so happy Tom and it's so fun to watch you and Matt. I know nothing about all that stuff you do but enjoy that you are both so upbeat and positive if all you do. Good on ya!
Rocking and rolling with brother Tom,Tom, doesn't get any better than that!!! Go Tom go!!!
That's what's good about fabricators. If you don't have the correct part but you have some things that with a bit of cobbling together you can make it work at least till you can get the correct parts to fix it the right way.
Awesome vid Tom keep them coming !!!!!
ahhhh, Tom Tom running a drill without his safety glasses! Busted! LOL😉
I love that Jeep!
You're doing a very good job of editing. I find that anything over 40 mins is too long and I skip by some. BTW, my father had a Jeep Wagoneer, I don't remember what year it was, but it was the last year they used regular gas (not unleaded). It had a 440 engine.
Tom you left that washer on Bridgers lug stud under the rotor
Solid line up in my sub list today. I’m watching you first . Love the clean edits .
That Wagoneer is sick!
Really good to see that you have your own shop but miss you at Matt's
Not sure who is helping with the camera work but they are doing an excellent job! Editing is top notch as well. Very enjoyable to watch! 👍👍
Hoarders unite!!! Just fixed my DeWalt electric weed Wacker the same way. Discovered a missing spring in the head which caused string to run out. Ran to my shop, found a spring, modified slightly and Bob's yer Uncle, off and running.
Love your channel. Great content.
The inlmpact is the right way to install wheel studs. I've done hundreds successfully that way.
great video Tom Tom. I've been down with an upper raspatory infection for the last week. So hanging with you in the Shop for about an hour was a breath of fresh air. Keep goin dude!!!
I have to say that was a great save but surprised that you didn't reach out to Matt. He always has all kinds of crap stashed around the shop. Love the new channel.
Glad to see you get the freedom to do it your way! I had a feeling you were very systematic and your work just screams quality and professionalism! Happy I followed Matt's Off-Road and through that found you among some others - stoked that you have your own gig now, just like I was happy to see that Trevor, Tucker, and George started MisAdventure Labs! I have so much respect for all of you! You all are not only super talented but have great personalities!!!
"Does that look level?" What?? As a fellow engineer, I can't believe you didn't put a level on that banner to make sure instead of just eyeballing it! 😂
Just now had time to watch this Video and lo and behold I saw the Cherokee at Overland Expo yesterday. Have a picture of it.
Awesome Tom to see you involving your family in your videos. Great job on the SEMA Jeep and your son’s Jeep.
You need to be a parts hoarder because you never know when one of those parts might work om something else. Great video Tom Tom.
A number of years ago, when I was building a few vehicles, I discovered the various rag joint splines out there. I did a little research, I found all the rag joints out there. I ordered 2 of each so I'd have them in stock. A couple of times, I've had to cut a couple of them apart and mix and match to get the job done.
It’s fine to use a nut and some washers to put in a lug nut stud as long as you’re careful. I’ve seen and done hundreds of them that way when the situation called for it. I enjoy TomTom’s dedication to being thorough and doing things the proper way, but sometimes you can get a little too carried away with doing things proper and end up never getting anything done. Sometimes a shortcut is absolutely ok or even necessary to avoid causing more issues or taking up way too much time. It’s a fine line and a balancing act to learn when and where to do things 100% by the book and when things can be done the easier and shorter way
Great job TomTom 👏 👍. Keep up your great work and videos 👏.
Tom Tom you're amazing team PB&J👍👊
Quality work as always.
12 videos in, and you're already churning out a 41 minute video of high-quality content? Nicely done 💪
