Costa Rica is not expensive... It's not as inexpensive as everyone wants it to be. It's still less expensive to travel around Costa Rica then it was for us to travel in our own country. It's all relative to what you are comparing to.

@@TheDufresnes guess you know where to go because since I traveled there back in 2015 found everything expensive, and not just me ( I was just one of a big group ) , just for reference I went to Poas volcano $15 for the entrance and was offered a $50 “package “ for lunch and a mini zoo tour really???

@anaquintanilla7003 ya those are group tourist packages haha. That's the most expensive way to travel any where. This is why we avoid them.

My family has built quite the relationship with him.
And the best part is I found this channel by him showing me the sticker you gave him on his water bottle 🥹

Visited Nicaragua in May and was really hoping it would be my new place/country. The people were wonderful and I enjoyed myself. But, I was not sold. I hope to visit CR to see if I have different feelings. Regardless, Nicaragua is still a lovely country!

Any chance you can explain some more. I recently went to CR and loved it. But where I was, Playa Coco , was a tourist town and very expensive. I was told nicaragua was a hidden treasure and much cheaper. Can you articulate what you liked or didn't like, and what cities you visited? Thank you. I'm really look forward to your reply.

@@CMB4LIFE For 3 years during Covid, I read and watched everything I could about Nicaragua and truly believed Nicaragua would be a great next home for me. In hindsight, I believe I set my expectations too high and waited too long to visit to see if Nicaragua was everything I had envisioned. It was very dry when I visited in May and I was very surprised how dusty and dead the land and roads were. I visited Granada and San Juan del Sur which are both touristy places. Granada was a charming and lovely town. But when I tried to sit in the town square for any length of time I was approached by many people wanting to sell me items or asking for money. I never felt threatened or scared just sad that I could not help everyone and sit and enjoy myself in the park. San Juan del Sur was also touristy and not my cup of tea for a beach experience. Honestly, I'm not a big beach person so I probably should have selected a different place to visit. My biggest concerns were the stray and hungry dogs (heartbreaking) and the trash everywhere (the USA is getting pretty trashy too and we have NO excuse!). I have also been concerned about humanitarian and religious workers being thrown out of the country. Finally, a more recent temporary ban of bringing pets due to some kind of outbreak also had me thinking Nicaragua is probably not the place for me. Regardless, the Nicaraguan people are wonderful and as a single, female, 55 yo traveler who speaks essentially no Spanish, I never felt unsafe or scared even when staying and walking in Managua one night. If were to return I would visit Leon and Catarina. You should visit. Many people love Nicaragua and I can see why.

@@mrnogood It was dry season and the country side was very dry and not very attractive. The poverty including all the abandoned street dogs was heartbreaking. So many people asking for hand-outs while sitting in the Granada park. I did not feel unsafe but could not enjoy the park and the surroundings. I am also concerned about moving to a country where a dictator is in charge. And please know that I don't believe the USA is much better politically especially lately but the thought of being at the whims of one person goes against everything I believe and how I live my life. I've not given up on Nicaragua and may visit again. But, it did not wow me as I had anticipated.

They're in GRANADA, the most expensive city in Nicaragua. When I get to Nicaragua, I'll be living GOOD. minus airbnb, and car rental, 100 would last me a few days and I would be stuffed with food three times a day.
