    FSR with 3d resolution set to 100% will not upscale anything as it's internally rendering at 100% resolution, so you're just playing without any upscaling and at native resolution, when you drop it to 99% that will engage FSR as it will upscale to 100% and sharpen your image. Personally I think that's oversharpened.

    • @DesperiusFFXIV
      @DesperiusFFXIV  5 месяцев назад +13

      I agree, its a shame though, that native and FSR don't look as "Clean" as the AA used inside of DLSS.
      However the FSR 2.1 kinda looks nice too, when you use the mod from the description

    • @ngwoo
      @ngwoo 5 месяцев назад +2

      I like how the oversharpening makes some textures look but yeah, distant objects (especially ones in fog) end up looking like a broken reshade preset.

    • @Gofr5
      @Gofr5 5 месяцев назад +1

      If one wants to play with sharpening, assuming you are on an AMD GPU (it's what I use), they do have a sharpening tool in software that you can play with to get the right amount of sharpening that you like. So if the FSR sharpenig is too much, just keep the rendering at 100 in the game and go in to the AMD software and play around with the sharpening tool there. I would assume Nvidia has a similar option perhaps? I don't know though.

    Yeah I have no idea how they didn’t catch any of these issues during debugging. Also, because of the new AA options (and probably upscaling too), there’s frame ghosting everywhere, and it’s presumably because the velocity buffer constantly breaks in certain areas, and strangely enough during certain weather conditions, namely “clear skies”

  • @SoSedatedSoSecure

    The problem with the DLAA fix is that it messes with my ReShade. After I fixed that it would still not be implemented with my Steam overlay. Even though the fix states that there are fixes for all of these issues, I could not get the (maybe not 100% clear) instructions to do so, on the website of the fix. Anyways, I threw so many files in my folder which had been renamed I lost track of everything and I had to repair my game files in order for my ReShade and Steam overlay to work again.
    I am now running the game with DLSS (no FSR, it’s jittery af on my 1080p ultrawide) set to below 30fps and using a ReShade preset with only Adaptive Sharpening turned on to about 75, and CMAA2 to fix any leftover aliasing and for me I’m hitting the sweet spot I can settle for. No other options/effects turned on.
    Would still love for SE to fix all the issues around the graphics. Sometimes sunlight pops under the brim of a hat. And a lot of other wonky lighting issues. And ofcourse the strange blur that pops up during DLSS movement. But the reshade preset I use eliminates a part of that.

The toggle removes it. But instead of actually removing it, it tucks it under the hat. You can’t see any part of it, but one part of the goggle pokes through the top of the hat. Walkin in a straight line is no problem, still looks good, its just as soon as i turn the camera it becomes sluggish, jittering or what ever, its like the camera panning doesnt work well.
    I tried this in borderless and thats where it usually happens.
    Fullscreen works fine, but alt tabbing becomes annoying and slows my pc down to the same fps as there is on the game. also weird.

    For me i turn AMD FSR with 3D Resolution to 99 on. After that i switched to DLSS and only then it works including DLAA. No AA issues or any flickering on my 1440p Monitor.
    If i set it to 100 with AMD FSR, DLSS with DLAA won't work for me.
    So i guess the problem must be an internal settings issue.

    It's totally weird that FSR has a pixel scale option and DLSS has not. Both can work like that without problems. And having FSR 1.0 in 2024 is just bonkers...
    I hope FSR and DLSS get updated and enable frame generation, which I am not optimistic for though.
    The implementation kind of shows to me that Square Enix are either ignorant or unwilling on how to deliver good upscaling.

    Maybe it's because they desgned for NVIDIA cards, period. Another game I play also had a huge graphics update that promised all this great stuff for folks using the NVIDIA cards...and for the rest of us, the game now glitches horribly until we set everything down to lowest possible graphics, making the game look worse.
    Maybe devs need to stop designing for specific cards and equipment and realize that not everyone has the latest & greatest expensive bells & whistles, and that a lot of their player base don't update to the newest hardware every week. In fact, most of us use stuff that might be *gasp* a couple months or even a year or two or four old, or use the same machine we use for everything else, instead of a dedicated "game" PC. Most of us have jobs that pay enough to allow us to pay bills and maybe some little bit of fun on the side.

  • @GENKI_INU
    @GENKI_INU 5 месяцев назад

    Choosing FSR on disabled gets rid of any upscaling whatsoever, meaning you have full native-resolution and only your desired form of AA to smooth any edges and flickering.
    I would suggest Nvidia GPUs choose DLSS, but set it to enabled at 30fps or below. This way, you don't need to use any AA, since the DLSS acts as high-quality DLAA when you are above 30fps.

    (I have mine capped at 90)
    Go into NVidia Control panel
    Manage 3D settings
    Program settings
    Add program, and find FFXIV
    Enter custom number in max frame rate.
    Save this and restart the game if it's open.

    1) It is FSR 1.0. It has a horrible sharpening filter. Keep resolution at 100% to turn it off. It's not worth it.
    2) From my observation, DLSS only kicks in as frame rate target.
    3) When you use DLSS, the AA will default to TSCMAA + camera jitter. It has the same AA blurryness and motion blurryness. Don't trust me, see it for yourself. By default, DLSS is not doing any AA.
    4) DLSS always enabled means it will target your monitor refresh rate.
    5) The best AA is probably to force DLAA on. I haven't tried this myself. I have quests to finish.
    6) For those that still thinks DLSS is better than native. nope.
    7) I was an AA off enjoyer before 7.0, but now the grass shimmers a lot.

      When you use DLSS, it defaults to DLAA. It greys out the last AA option you had in the graphical settings because its using DLAA. Don't believe me? Change it to FSR > FXAA then back to DLSS, it will then lock and grey out the AA field and show FXAA instead
      Best is to use DLSS with a DLSSTweaks preset that forces native res (you need to use DLSS to use DLAA) and force DLAA on all the time, no more shimmering

    Aah, nice fix for people with lower end systems that struggle to maintain a steady 60fps.
    But if you have high enough pc specs there is no point in using ether DLSS or FSR, It's honestly just not worth it.
    It's rare for me to drop sub 100 fps, so why would I want my game to have a thin layer of Vaseline over it just for a 10 fps gain at most

      You need DLSS enabled for DLAA to become available, which is by far the best Anti Aliasing available, even if you arent using the upscaling aspect of DLSS
      You can force DLAA on all the time and have the game rendered at native resolution, so you'd be missing out on some nice image quality improvements at least from the DLSS side of things

    Someone correct me but, the reason why their update is not working has a lot more to do with the engine. If anything this is just a poor implementation of gshade. So in short the team didnt 'update' the graphics they just slapped the Gshade mod on top of what we have.
    They would need to actually transfer everything to a new engine for any meaningful graphical update but that takes time. We just got a stop gap.

      They at least implemented native Motion Vectors so we can hack in better DLSS and FSR.

      Nope, Gshade. I went to Reshade briefly after the debacle with the Gshade maker, but...who cares? They caused no harm and learned a harsh lesson...and make a product that works better with FFXIV. Reshade was just too much of a hassle to try and make work as well as Gshade did.

      Yeah Gshade is still the best out there. The 'malware' thing was not even a malware for user anyway, it was an anti-tamper measure for ppl who tried to tamper with the Gshade program. Normal user wouldnt be affected by the so-called 'malware'.
      And now the controversial antitamper is already removed due to the backlash anyway. So theres no more reason not to use Gshade.

    I've already installed the additional options for DLSS on Nexus & currently been using the highest quality preset alongside the same settings you've shown here before I even watched this video, but absolutely nothing seems to 100% remove the camera blur and jittering when my character is in motion, or anything in motion, for that matter. It's kind of annoying despite my game looking a lot better, but I do hope SE get around to fixing this permanently at some point.
