Picking your battles, patience...good words my guy. Good vid. Very helpful. when I opened the hood, I knew that damn bracket had to come out and you confirmed it.
@@RevCesKorner305 You can't beat the chevy 350 four bolt water pump . At least the Encore water pump is external and not driven by the timing belt . And I like that it has a timing chain not a belt.
this is super helpful and i appreciate you sharing. i was hoping this was something i could do on my own but don't think i am confident with my limited ability, equipment, and lack of patience and unfortunately might just have to get it done somewhere and remind myself part of the cost of labor is all the aforementioned things i can't easily do myself. thank you for sharing as it helped a lot to give that confirmation!
It’s not as easy as some will tell you it is but I did actually make it look more difficult also. It isn’t totally necessary to remove the engine mounts if you don’t mind contorting a bit and finagle the belt in.
@@andrewcrawford6700 Yes, you don’t really need to remove it. When I did this years ago the few pages I found out of an actual OEM manual said to do it. Just like removing the entire dash when replacing the Camaro vent door which it’s much easier to just cut the side out and replace it.
How well did this work with reusing the motor mount bolts? The manual says they are torque to yield bills that can't be reused. I'm about to start this process myself.
Oh s#!t!!! If you got your hands on the manual you are GOLDEN! I never found anything online saying they were TTY but I’m not surprised. I did this years ago but I’m pretty sure I used the same exact bolts with a dab of locktite. Haven’t had any issues thus far. Out of curiosity I’m going to check them. I know someone else told me the bolts that hold the heat shield are also TTY which seems ridiculous to me. I’m wondering what other bolts are TTY??
@RevCesKitchen305 great. This thing is at 270k and the tension pully has been my first issue. So I'm going to send it for a long as it'll hold up 😆 🤣 😂
Thanks for stopping by. The bracket is a PITA. Putting it back can be as bad or worse because you're putting it back with the bolts in place. The best advice I can give on this is the one word we all hate to hear which is patience. You need two jacks to pull this off. One to hold up the car and the other to support the engine. Use the engine jack. Make sure you're not going full pumps on the jack. Use a very subtle slow lift. Remember you dont wanna damage the transmission and anything else. Give it just enough that you can remove the bracket with some struggle. Yeah it sucks but it's better to be safe than sorry. You will have the bracket off of the engine block and the hard part is finagling it out.....and finagling back in. Jack as needed only. Film it if you have to so you can see how you did it. Best of luck!
If I "offended" anyone you are more than welcomed to tune out. To address the tensioner, as stated not possible at the time to film because there was no way to hold a phone and add/remove the belt with one hand. This is why it was explained instead. To go over in detail, the pulley tensioner is located in between the alternator and coolant pump above the harmonic balancer. Use a breaker bar and a socket onto the tensioner and push it in the opposite direction to slip the belt on, then release slowly making sure the belt is aligned.
@@RevCesKorner305 PS I like watching educational videos , I don't know everything and you may know a few tricks I don't , I've only done one of these water pumps and it was my own , what they did with the bolts they should be shot ! This is a part of two. I try NOT to watch what other people do. That's not the purpose of the video but to learn how to do it by figuring it out oneself and with the least amount of tools. Damn right! 20 years ago, no problem. Now.............it's a marathon not a race.
@@RevCesKorner305 we make it look easy 😎...now.
The bracket looks scary but the hole in the frame makes it easier . The hardest part is getting it jacked up in the proper position .

Thanks for the videos. It really comes in handy. Keep up the good work my guy!
I left the 3 long bolts in the bracket from engine mount to block. Made it easier to get it in and out with out having to get the bolts out

How did u take out the bracket
You don't have to remove the mount bracket on the motor. The tensioner will compress enough to slip the belt on.
You're right! You really dont have to although it does make the job a little easier. Thanks for the feedback.
you did not show how to take the tension of the belt?
Hard to with only one hand. Pretty sure I explained it. I also did say if you're completely oblivious or scared you shouldnt try it.
