While being in Kenya with a Kenyan family, my roots are in Scandinavia, Europe So I am watching the political, economic and social climate in Kenya with somewhat different eyes. Obviously, I have reasons for being in Kenya. It is a beautiful country with an industrious population. And the climate is beyond discussion 😊 But ….. I am not used to politicians being corrupt! Not used to tribalism. I don’t know tribalism except from Kenya. Not used to politicians buying votes. Not used to politicians with helicopters. Not one of them. Not used to politicians flashing anything. Not used to motorcades for any politician. Not even the prime minister. Used to politicians working for their constituents (because if they don’t, they will not be elected next time). Not used to lack of accountability. Not used to impunity. Not used to nepotism. Used to absolutely independent judiciary. Used to police being a service. Being polite. Being professional. And never, ever turning on their own people. Not one, not one, protester has ever been shot at in my country. Ever. So Kenya ….. you have some catching up to do. And Morara is the first person I have heard understanding that you certainly don’t pay people to support you. If people believe in you, they will support you …. for free. Because you are going to work for them. Take initiatives and make decions and negotiate to improve their lives. Long term!
I'm not opposed to Morara, but one of the problems I have with him (over say Omtatah) is I see him maintaining some of the unnecessary extravagance. I've listened to him a lot, and he seems to like luxurious brand names etc. He's said something different here regarding this though. The motorcades are one of the most ridiculous things that I see, for a developing country. Deluxe vehicles and fuel all imported. They probably make the security risk worse. If a threat suddenly appears, there will be pandemonium and probably even accidents, especially at high speed. I need Morara to address this topic of govt extravagance.
@panafrican.nation Thank you for a civilized comment to mine 🙏🏼 Even as a non-African, I noticed when Morara name dropped a few luxury brands. Something I rarely hear in Kenya. But am totally used to from home. I can name drop a lot more. But it doesn’t mean I own or wear any of those brands. I don’t really care about Rolex watches but my children own Rolex watches. I don’t care about Yves Saint Laurent perfumes but my sister loves them. My mother drives an Audi. I drive a Mazda in Kenya. Having followed Kebaso since, I think, early July, I have noticed that he is occasionally well dressed. Quality clothes and shoes. Kasmuel is well dressed too. Morara is a successful businessman in his own right. And I don’t think you can move in so many different circles without running into some kind of luxury. It dies t mean that you are a slave to it. I am sure that he appreciates some of the good things in life. But I don’t think he is opulent in any way. I don’t think he is flashing his “good taste”. And I am sure he pays with his own hard earned money 😉 In fact, I think he often goes to great length to identify with the people that he is around. And dress accordingly. Speak accordingly. Especially, in his early appearances, Morara addressed the opulence and extravagance that was shown by politicians (until they started being slightly more humble and ran off and hid in the shadows 😂). Perhaps they need reminding again. That is possible. But he did in fact speak about it as did many others.
@@abocas When he was a student in university, fellow students sponsored his campaign for student leadership, and he used some of the the money to buy clothing from Abdullah Fazal, one of the high end stores in Nairobi (stocks brands like Hugo Boss, Armani etc). As a business owner who has raised money from foreign investors, I'm very frugal with other people's funds, so high end clothing doesn't strike me like something I would spend such money on. Anyway, he knows best. I've never ran for student leadership and I went to university in the US, so I don't know what such campaigns involve. Maybe making an impression with expensive suits is a non-negotiable requirement, no idea.
@panafrican.nation what can I say … I didn’t hear about the clothes when he was a student leader. I heard that he was an efficient student leader, though. Perhaps it requires a certain outfit 😉 But I think Morara is about so much more than nice clothes. Over and out for now …. I think 🙏🏼
@@panafrican.nation Won't be a problem if he can afford them without stealing. Most hustlers who voted Ruto believed he was a son of a peasant, a fellow hustler as he fashioned himself. They didn't care that he was a polished looter, someone who has never had to look for a job his whole life unlike all other Kenyan presidents before him. Ruto's father died when Ruto was 41. Uhuru's died when he was 17.

Morals is saying it right. Ruto is a super smart man. The guy defeated Nyayo in Rift Valley. The guy defeated ICC, where Taylor could not escape. The guy beat a popular candidate in Raila and a sitting President in Uhuru, combined. Such is the man. Ruto is like a step ahead of us. Ruto wants a Kikuyu to contest for presidency or deputy. Ruto win run on a tribal narrative, especially with a Kikuyu candidate. The guy just needs a 40+ versus 1 campaign. He knows what he will say in Nyanza, in Rift Valley, Coast, North Eastern, and Western. Vouching for Gachagua is playing to Ruto’s plans. Because Ruto will use Judiciary to allow Gachagua to contest. He wants that duel that bad. He already knows how to win it as we still want to be called tribeless, partyless. Ruto wants this confusion till 2026 then split the teams. What is the way forward. Be simple and straightforward. Don’t hide any plan, you can’t beat Ruto with a hidden plan. Get a candidate and let the contest begin. Omtatah is here. The others can also come up but build a message now because Ruto is building his.
