I keep trying to play along with this(guitar). Countless times, my right arm falls off, usually at around 2 min. Frank's composure after he blazes a wonderful solo, then shifts back to rhythm, is down right awe inspiring. Frank is the MAN!
I'm a serious fan and I love his all Gershwin CD and drove a few hundred miles in Florida to here his group live. They did not play any of that CD, but I went back stage to get him to sign the CD and he and the group played a few Gershwin tunes just for me in a crowded little room. He volunteered to do this with the most grace and style. His pleasant stage demeanor is the real deal. A master musician and class act.
Just found a transcription of Ken Peplowski’s solo here. What is astounding is how long I’ll need to practice this…and he just improvised. So now it’s Eddie Daniels and Ken Peplowski. Amazing!!
I keep coming back to this video because sincerely it is one of the best things I´ve ever seen on RUclips. Vignola doesn´t even has a damn drop of sweat after this, and only struggles lightly in that very fast section at the later part of the song (4:09). I don´t know how his wrists will be when he is in his 70´s. Awesome.
Frank Vignola is a monster player, and hats off to the virtuoso performance by Ken Peplowski too. I love it! If you liked this, you will love my video of Frank paying tribute to Rimsky-Korsakov and also Frank playing with Tommy Emmanuel. Please take a look!
I love how the clarinet and the guitar really work well together is awesome one of my favorites and Frank is awesome to marvelous marvelous musicianship wow
Great fan if Ken Peplowski - Thank you so for this Post. Hope to see a live performance w Ken some day - exception talent, skill, and Passion. #PasaionsByBeth
There is a chance several members of the audience were just looking for a simple night out at a jazz festival. And maybe, just maybe, if the were lucky. they’d stumble upon some good musicians. Not only did the get a great guitar player, but they got perhaps one of THE greatest jazz clarinetist of any era in Ken Peplowski. Simply a giant of the clarinet.
It's funny that you say that, because I had been thinking the same thing. However, after watching a few of his tutorials, I realized that Frank looks at it like this: "Hey, if you master one thing on guitar a week, for 52 weeks, then you have 52 new things mastered!!!" It's his flawless sense of patience that has allowed him to master his craft.
I love this stuff: Keeps me grounded. Just when I think I'm starting to get good, I listen to something this like. Like watching the old Tiger Woods play golf. Some folks are just wired differently (and better).
Frank has really done an amazing job pulling that old style of jazz guitar into the modern era, i saw him at this really small venue in D.C. a couple months ago, and he was tremelo picking and diminished chord blues running his way through tunes from this one to the freaking pink panther
Frank is so cool -- great energy. I first heard him at Strawberry Music Fest with Marc O'Connor's "Hot Swing Trio" After the first barrage of tunes, they came out for solo pieces -- he played Tico Tico for about five minutes - turned it everyway but loose. There's a great post of Frank doing Ellington's "C Jam Blues" with Tommy E.
These guys are our new entire NASA program. I swear I could just float up in the air while listening to this, and burning at those speeds, they could send me across the galaxy. Get me a space suit and I'll meet you on the moon!
Maybe it's becuase I'm kinda high, but this was one of the best things I've heard in my life.
Formidable,excelente musicos

Just play good music, don't play guitar.

The expression on franks face is priceless. He could be doing the dishes with how calm he looks while his hands are moving a million miles an hour!!!
Balls of Steel on Frank to nail this performance. Very inspiring!

Same here, sickest rhythm guitar part I've ever heard
Brilliant performance. I keep coming back here once in a while. It is impossible to be completely still while listening :)
This still blows my mind every time I watch it.
woh, such a young Frankie V - I did not think he was ever under 30...
simply devastating. I can't stop listening and not believing. What a master.
I got to play with Ken last weekend... it was surreal.
Best clarinet song I’ve ever heard. Truly masterpiece and very hard thing. Guitar man also very good.
Frank is the man and in case you have not noticed, his rhythm is spot on, fast and completely bad ass... that's why he sounds so good.
Just got back from a jazz festval in Eugene Oregon where both Ken and Frank played Tiger Rag - I'm still coming down off the high

one of my favorites videos!
I just shit my pants.. just kidding , im not wearing any pants..:P ..WOW!!!
This is the definition of the word "perfect".
Thank you so much, Mr. Vignola and Mr. Peplowski!
P.S. Michael Madsen is a brilliant clarinetist!
He looks tamely and nerdy - but he plays as if he marinades his hands in cocaine when not in use...
His hands would be numb if he did that.
I think Ken should include this quote on his website.
... words can not describe ... just give them an Olympic Gold Medal !! FUNTASTIC !!
Master piece....!!!! Marvelous...!!!
He's a great cat for sure! and a great entertainer too! I played with him 3 days ago in Nardis Jazz Club in Istanbul ! we had so much fun!

5:05 Superb !
Amazing.
brilliant clarenet, nice guitar too

perfect performance
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!
He is. No question about it.
Vignola strums those string more in that one song than most guitarists do in a gig.

He's coming to my hometown in sweden on fiday
Absolutely sick......Wow!
EXCELLENT!
Best ever!
Frank's right hand performance here reminds me of the kind of speed and precision that Buddy Rich displays. i can pay no higher compliment.
As great the 20th time as it was the first!
I played with Ken at one point, and what a master! He was a genius when it came to technique
agree. moreover, for the mere velocity, like many guitarist tend to do.
Ken Peplowski is the best in the world! Oh, and Geaux Tigers!
WOW.
Amazing........had Frank reached puberty when this was recorded? LOL
1:05 How the heck he can run that scale on sliding... amazing
magic
Прекрасный звук!!!
