I just came back from watching The First Slam Dunk in the theatre. Those last couple of points had me on the edge of my seat and almost gave me a heart attack even though I've read this match over a dozen times.
I swear if this gets animated again, this is going to be if not at the top of the most iconic moments in anime history, one of the most iconic moments in anime history.
I hope so as well it gets animated but it depends if they make it or how they make it. It can be old school 90s style of very modern style which could be over dramatic. So its a tough one and could ruin the whole history of the manga.
Such a poetic ending, when the title was slam dunk but inoue conclude the final moment with a simple jump shot. A basic skill that hanamichi just mastered. For me this moment made Hanamichi whole as baller, just need more experience to become the real tensai.
This very particular moment was way more epic than kagami-kuroko dynamics for the whole series. This is the only moment that rukawa threw away his pride and for the first time passed to sakuragi. What a moment

Just watched the movie yesterday in the cinema and my jaw dropped so hard on the floor. My god, was it masterfully done. Insane animation quality and the way it was animated. Time stopped for that moment man. It was surreal.
Im a 28 yrs old man who still love this anime one of my greatest wish in this life of mine is to watch the continuation until end of this anime pls start the production again to whom it may concern ..
it’s been 5 years since i read this chapter on manga, and now i was looking for this again and it brings back all the memories. This is truly wonderful, i’m kinda sad since the ending of this anime/manga was rushed, i was expecting more of sakuragi’s growth until his last year in high school. Nevertheless, this scene never fails to give me goosebumps! Truly the best basketball anime ever.
In my opinion the ending was perfect, it showed us how hard training doesnt always pay off. In alot of other anime they just always win the tournament etc etc. But slam dunk really taught us that hard training isnt just everything in basketball which is why i think it was a perfect ending.

There were so many moments to add to this part to make this more amazing for the general viewers. Like the part where Sakuragi injured his spine, and the last 10 seconds they took possession from Sannoh by block and Akagi got the ball, and Sakuragi ran off to counter when they were 2 points down with a painful look. But the tall guy blocked Akagi from passing to Sakuragi and hence Rukawa with an urgent look demanded ball from Akagi and ran off to shoot to complete the counter but was blocked by two guys in the air so passes to Sakuragi who mumbled 'Left hand is just for holding the ball' before receiving the pass and shooting it to win the match. It was such an epic finale, definitely should be officially animated.
i am not a basketball player.. But watching shohoku n sakuragi always make me feel i want to play basketball someday.. hope someday the anime will continue untill sannoh defeated

That was a huge character developement of rukawa..hes a kind of player that will doeverything on his own and when he pass that ball,,he learns how to trust other..thats what coach ansai want to teach to rukawa to trust other that he cant win on his own.

And the trust Sakuragi has to Rukawa as well. Sakuragi and Rukawa both scored and assisted the last 4 points Shohoku made which secured their win. It showed the growth of the two main characters.

I Will never forget the part when Akagi said "thanks" to others for never given up also when the opponent was Sannoh. It was like if the entire slam dunk community has thanked Inoue to have given us the best spokon ever written

I'm a 40-year old man and still mad to this day that they never finished the anime. I don't know what happened the rest of the way, but I know what happened here because I have the final chapter in comic book form, but it's in Japanese so I can't even read it. All that said, this scene gives me all the goosebumps lol my favorite anime of all time.

Fui con mis 3 hermanos a ver la película, 2 de ellos sabían cual sería el resultado final. Mi hermano que no sabía y yo, sufrimos un paro cardíaco. Por favor nunca digan los resultados a personas como yo, eso permitió que fuera muy feliz.
