nearly two years later still that cd was released and i'm still wondering that too. it's weird because his voice sounded a bit high in his little clean vocal parts on TOCS then sounded deep in Returning Empty Handed...

He does it because he has to sing and scream for an hour and a half for months on tour, so in order to not destroy his voice. and by the time he's singing these songs he's already running out of breath. Have you seen his recording sessions? I have. He's great.

he maybe just started the song at a different key because i heard the difference too.
Because Aaron held them back. Love Aaron but music is music in the end, and in order to achieve a harmony of the two vocals one had to be higher than the other. I like They're Only Chasing Safety, dont get me wrong, but as a group, they're doing great without the old school.

Dude does anyone have a video where he doesn't sound so off key while singing paper lung?...all I ever see is him off. And he cuts his screams super short. Makes sense why they're disbanding.
I dont care that aaron is gone, its just weird hearing spencers voice as high as it is. But i like their sound now just as i did before. Spencers voice still fits UO like it did before in my opinion. And i dont miss aaron being in this band because hes in the almost.

Seeing him destroying his kit, is so fucking amazing. You can tell that he has really an unique intensity when playing on his kit.

2023 i still
I listened to this after you said that, and I am a singer as well.. he cuts short a couple of times and is off a little at the beginning.. but besides that he's great, he's just hard to really hear except for his belts, making the computer concert experience difficult to fully absorb.. There are parts when he's straining the crap out of his voice, but he's not off key.

Did his voice get higher? His voice sounded deeper than that when he would sing with aaron in the older songs, but why does his voice sound so high?
