_“This is a once in a century talent. There has never been a driver like him and if you ask me there will never be another with that level of natural talent.”_ Niki Lauda, *2016.*
Too early for Martin huh. I'd say the fact he only drove one season in single-seaters and won his debut race at Red Bull at 18 years old is evidence enough. Everything after that was expected and gravy. Niki Lauda said it while taking off his cap: "I have no words. This is a once-in-a-century talent." (in German)
Max is not only the best F1 driver of all times, he is the very best driver of all times... I hope we may see him in other race classes after formula one. Mark my words: Max will dominate ANY racing class he will compete in.
Lets see how he goes when, or even if, he goes to a team that isn't built around him. Everyone was saying similar things about Vettel until he left the cradle of Red Bull and got out into the real world. Verstappens a huge talent, no mistake, but he's no Senna, he's no Clark, he's no Fangio.

After 4 consecutive DWC, 2 of which can be argued to be won in a car that was not the fastest, you still ask the question "is this greatness in the making"?
@00:10 The most remarkable is that only Red Bull has been able to achieve the consecutive 4 WDC's directly following the very first WDC, TWICE! The only ones ever to have done this were Sebastian Vettel and now Max Verstappen!👴🤯⭐⭐⭐⭐ But no, those Brits produce a different list with 4 consecutive WDC's won, but containing of course at least one countryman. Unbelievably small, and so very predictable.👴🤮

Nah. Brundle is the most honest journalist in all of Great Britain. The times he shows dishonesty is when he has to protect his position, because the people he works for are telling him to do it or else, and true followers of his work can see that. He's a huge fan of Max. He even said so live on the grid-walk: "the one driver I would like to have a drink with is Max". (I'm also a Max-fan, but firstly a Dutch F1 fan)

I was thinking the same. Claiming Max does not care for a reputation of a clean racer while in the end his competitors (though British) have done worse. Hamilton obviously in '21 but even NOR. The start in Spain for instance, putting VER on the grass in front of a stampede of 18 thundering F1 cars is as dangerous as you can get. Not a class act and I am sure if Max would have done that we would have seen plenty of re-runs of that action and hear a lot of condemn. With NOR no one cares and if even mentioned the response is, well it is not that Max is not aggressive. So framing Max the villain will inevitable turn him into one, since literaly every incident he is involved in you can make him perpetrator. Nobody is playing nice, don't get me wrong, Max is no saint, but I feel he is singled out for a reason and that reason is simply not being British. Take Austria this season for instance. What really happened was NOR being Bambi on ice in his overtaking attempts. Of course VER is trying to keep the lead, but he left more than enough room for Lando who ran into Max because...?
The laziest measuring stick is to say the driver with the most titles is the GOAT. I would put a driver like Jim Clark at the top of my GOAT list for having consistently driven a lesser car to victory. And, after witnessing Max's 2024 season, I would rank him higher than Lewis.
No other driver has won 2 titles without the fastest car and 4 back to back. Too soon to say, no mate. To all but the most biased it is crystal clear. He is the very best of the last 20 years.
2021 was not his win it was gifted, I discount it completely. Not to take anything away from him, he is a superb driver. All time great, well only if he wins 8 titles. 2025 he we founder I think, but not because of his driving the car is simply not fast enough anymore. We shall see.
By the way, no driver has ever won a DWC after turning 40 years old. If Hamilton manages that with Ferrari (he doesn't even speak Italian) that would be astonishing.
Once Max has 8 or more championships under his belt, then and only then can he be called the greatest. Drivers that have more titles than him, Hamilton and Schumacher spring to mind are still far greater than Max. also Once his accumulated the most poles, the most wins, the most points, and holds more records then Hamilton then and only then Maybe. He Still has a long way to go before that happens...

Martin must choke having to praise a non British driver. He is one of the greatest, not a maybe in the future
He wins titles when the whole British media and Johnny Herbert try everything in their powers to give the wins to Hamilton.
Lewis had the most dominant car in F1 history helping him get 6 of those 7 titles
And? Driver & car excellence right, that’s the Formula, right? I’m Not understanding your point?? 😊
