Check the shadows. I use special paper (can be found at Walmart it's not special expensive paper, 2.50 for a notebook, just know what you have to look for) that has a thin coating on it. That paper combined with the surface tension of water will literally give you 3d lettering. Look up gauche calligraphy for even better 3D

But if you use a more paint like ink (like gauche) it will stay 3D, I forgot to mention that lol. So in the video it is 3D, but it will flatten during evaporation.
