A great find, well done from another car boot optimist. This is still my favourite leaf shutter SLR camera. This particular model is, to my mind, the best version, although the smaller fixed 45mm lens versions are also great. I love the quality of both the camera and the dedicated Pro Tessar lenses, the peculiar shutter sound, and most of all the quality of the images that I get. You're right about fitting a yellow filter, and if you want to do landscape, the 35mm Pro Tessar lens is wonderful. The 85mm f/4 is no slouch either.
I loved the camera, especially with the 35 click on adapter. I stopped using it because the light meter only works in A and you can overexpose by only one stop with an awkward little slider on top, but not underexpose. I now consider it a heavy point and shoot, whereby you have to hope that the f stop will correspond what you need for depth of field. Up for sale, including the custom flash, filters, 2 lens adapters.
Missed this video when it was released. Do you know anyone who CLA’s these cameras? I have one of these cameras but 2 issues: 1)the mirror intermittently sticks up when advancing the film; 2)the leaf shutter is slow in closing at all speeds, probably needs regreasing. I have reached out to several people but they no longer work on the Contraflex. Thanks.
What is this? You show a picture of a fairly RARE early SLR, The Braun Paxette Reflex, and then start talking about a fairly COMMON and not so early german SLR? Those Contaflexes, and I have a few of them, lingered on well into the reign of the japanese SLR that effectively ousted the whole german camera industry.... When is there gonna be a piece on that RARE Braun Reflex?
I had used the wrong photo!!! Have also done a video on the Braun Paxette Reflex, you were the only viewer to notice!! Thank you!!!! All corrected now (about from missing title on the actual video!)
Your sharpest images to date. I use a Chamois leather (rinsed out) to wipe down my negatives.
Superb
I have one and love it!
Thank you for this video I found it very interesting. I think the Contaflex is the best SLR camera Zeiss Ikon made.

The Contaflex is a beautiful camera design, I myself own a type IV.
Lovely purchase. Perhaps the little hot/cold-shoe-mounted AstrHori light meter would be a great addition?
