This is one of your best Thrifting days ever Irene
The tool at 6:56 with the red Bakelite handle is a cake breaker. I've sold many of these over the years with either red, green or yellow Bakelite handles.
What is a cake breaker?
@@texmex124 Angel food cake has a different texture that just squishes down when you try to cut with a regular knife, the cake breaker starts the cut so it doesn't squish .
Using a cake breaker makes for a neater serving of cornbread baked as a loaf.
I've heard them called a cake comb or a cake rake but didn't know how they were used

I learned to sew on a pedal sewing machine. Eventually my Dad added a motor and converted it to electric. I believe it was the only sewing machine my mother ever had. She died in 1990. She was an avid quilter and a dear lady. Miss her. Your videos always take me down memory lane. Thanks.

Love the big green score at the beginning. I walk all the aisles to see if anything was put in the wrong place. You never know.
The large implement with huge tines that looks like a comb is for cutting angel food cake! Love that green Noritake set and the red punch bowl set - what a find!!!! I do enjoy browsing the aisles that you film 😊whether you buy something or not - sometimes I say, oh, go back to the left, you missed something I want to see!!! I can no longer walk long distances, so love to go virtual shopping for antiques and vintage with you! Thanks for taking us along!🙋
I seem to recall some of the guys with afros in high school occasionally having those stuck into their "do". (Yes, I know there were ones made of plastic that were specifically for afros, but I know I saw a few of these that had been repurposed, too!) I'll bet their grannies were PISSED that they made off with her angelfood cake cutter! Scott, you completely cracked me up when you were rhapsodizing over your wonderful finds, then suddenly whipped out a boiled egg and ate it. Don't know if it was the accompanying facial expressions or what, but that just cracked me completely up!😅😅😅 That iced tea looked SO good! 😊

That comb thing is a cake crumber or breaker, for cutting angel food cake. I had one in its original box. I believe the box mine was in read "Cake Crumber".

I wish this was the "Jetsons" age so I could jet to where you shop and score some of that great stuff you find. I see it at actions locally but it's too pricey. When I see those wood tables with big legs it reminds me of the one my grandparents had. Lots of memories made at that table. That pillow for Tammy was sweet of you. It's the little things that are the most special because they come from the heart.

My oh my! Such a day!
I like looking at everything as you walk down the aisles. It's helpful when you see something that is a knock-off, not good quality or something newish or even just junk and then give your opinion on it. I see the same stuff when I go thrifting. I can look at it with a more discerning eye after watching your videos.
It's such fun for me when you find such treasures. Thanks for taking us with you.

It is my preference that you turn the camera on when you find something interesting. I have an identical McBeth Evans petal ware cake plate. I will be on the look out for the pastel. Congratulations on a great haul! 👏

When you’re out thrifting and not finding much, remember that blue ribbon days like this can also happen. Wish I could find a bookcase like yours. The settee was also lovely.

Just a little tip: When I go thrifting, I grab a cart, and then I go to the clothes or the blanket aisle, and I grab something that will cover my potential goodies. I find that it keeps the lookie loos 🧐at bay because they can't see what's in my cart. When I'm ready to check out, I head to the register and ditch the shirt or blanket. 😁😁😁

@@poshbird7784 Scott shops in Philadelphia and New Jersey. I am close to those areas but sadly I am afraid to drive on the highway so can’t shop in these places. Where I live there are 3 goodwill stores and they are junky .

W😲W!!!!!!!!!! Scott, this is the BEST haul I've seen yet. You lucky dog! There's a puddle on the floor where I'm standing, drooling over all those beauties. All that glassware is exactly what I live for and collect when I can find them for reasonable prices. (sigh) To your question: I prefer the way you edit your shopping so we aren't just dragged down boring aisles. Of course we all have different tastes, so sometimes I go 'ooh!' over something your camera pans over to the item you have chosen to look at, but mostly I like your editing, so thanks for making it all entertaining, never boring. You made sooooo many amazing buys! To re-phrase you: 'I think I'm gonna need an oxygen mask'. Hahahah!
I do enjoy footage of you wandering up an aisle looking at everything, it gives a sense of being there, and makes me appreciate all the stuff you have to sort through to find the goodies, as you did today. I so want that Anchor Hocking ruby red punch bowl set. I'm envious of that bookcase with the ionic columns, I could make good use of that. I’m so happy you bought the cabinet from 1918 or so. It was beautiful. In Houston, Texas we have NoThiNg like you all have in your area. It’s tempting to just pack up and move there so some fun can be had shopping for great deals! If something does come up, that’s similar to what you have, it’s priced so high. It’s pointless to buy it. Thank you for such a fun video!❤
