Fair bit of work for local Pway gang,, I bet a few mugs of tea were spilt on some of those Joints and Crossing Noses. Epic. As for the fella Shunting the Choppers, riding the step,,,, Hse would wet there pants these days . Brilliant vid,,, thanks for sharing. 👍👍😎😎
Thanks - the differences on the railway between 76 and 92 would have been even greater than between 92 and the present day. Pleased you enjoyed it and hope it brought back some happy memories,
Many fond memories of time spent at that location in the late 80's and early 90's together with tours of the steelworks internal track layout. A fantastic video when we had such a variety of freight locos
Great video Tony, nice vantage point too not seen any footage from this angle here before :) used to be such a great place constant freight variety now all we've got are our memories and thanks to you chaps clips to look back on
Thanks for your kind comments. The location was accessible without crossing any fences by way of a short walk up the bank from the road leading to the coal terminal. I was approached by British Steel security staff towards the end of this session and after a short discussion agreed I wasn't trespassing but also suggested I was a bit close to the railway so I agreed to leave.
My memories go back to steam days in the late50's/early 60's. If you think the loco's were dirty in this film they were filthy further back. You sometimes saw a clean steam loco fresh out of overhaul at Doncaster plant on running in turns apart from that nothing just filth. They kept a couple of Cleethorpes - Doncaster services as running in turns steam until 1966 when steam stopped. Everything else was DMU except summer Cleethorpes excursions. WD's in such poor repair steam sprang from everywhere. Loads of ex GC Robinsons. It was much busier back then and the Frodingham 36C steam shed much larger. Happy days though. Valuable historic archive including a green class 47. Happy days when we had three steelworks at Scunny. Thanks for posting.
That was a little warty but well worth watching -- thanks for posting! I'm surprised I don't remember 47401 in two-tone green, as this was right around the time that I was going to several BR open days a year and would have expected to see something like that.
Thanks Jon - totally agree - still go out photographing and taking movies (kind of in the blood) but it takes a lot more effort these days - lack of character and so much vegetation that everywhere looks the same. I have a bit more to process from this era, but not much.
@@tonyb6376 tbh I couldn't wait to get out, Scunthorpe was pretty grim . When I started as an apprentice we were cutting up plates for scrap to go back into the furnace to keep us in a job . Its a wonder the place is still open. I retrained in Forestry soon after and moved North to Newcastle.
Brilliant Tony. The 47 on the coil was special. When you think I started on BR in 77 on £38.00 a week what these hands in the pockets do nothing twats get paid now is unfucking believeable
Not so many of these diesels around today loved hearing them back in the good day
Thanks

brilliant reminds me of my days in Scunthorpe I Left in 1976 2 years after father died he was a fitter at Frodingham for 27 years

Amazing footage, brings back memories of when the railways were more interesting.
Thanks

This is great stuff. Many thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it
I watch a lot of diesel vids on youtube and that's the best I've seen in a long time. Subbed.
Thanks - that is one of the better ones,
I remember the old Frodingham (36C) shed on this site full of steam locomotves.
Would have loved to have seen it in its Heyday
Great memories of the late 80s and 90's of the sector era.....superb footage of the Frodingham area.
Glad you enjoyed it

Fairly certain it was at Doncaster open day either 1992 or 1993.
@@tonyb6376 Well, it was exactly two-thirds of a lifetime away, so I guess I _might_ have forgotten. 😃
A cup of tea, a few sandwiches and a pair of binoculars, what more could you want? Great memories, many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Everyone called it the last great years before the 66s took over.
The British railway system at it's filthy best. Brilliant window in a bygone age.
thanks
Good bit of history to watch, remember many of those locomotives 👏
Thanks Graham
47380, doomed to end at MCs within 18 months.
When the railways had a bit character to them, or is it just me? Nice vid Tony

Great videos , not a part of the UK i spent a lot of time at so loving these , keep them coming
Thanks Nick
Well Done, Great Video
Thanks Paul
Never mind the 'warts', feel the nostalgia, can't repeat any of this, hold onto the memories of better times.
It's all about the nostalgia - not my skills behind the camera!
class 31 at the end of the clip is about to fail, coolant turning to steam on vent valve
Ah - that makes more sense. Thanks James.
The engines wont take any more Captain !!!! Worse than that,, it's dead Jim 😂😂
Sorry , I couldnt resist. 👍👍😀
"Star of the East" in two-tone Green. At Christmas, as well. How apt.
Absolutely loved it, memories of the good old days. I have subbed by the way :)
Thanks for the sub!
Great footage of a location I only ever passed once.😊
Thanks
This is fantastic!
Cheers James. Should be relevant to West Halton Sidings.
@Tornado922 Scunthorpe 1992
I worked at AppFrod until 1992
Nice one - hope it stirred good memories🤭

31199 sounds and looks at bit poorly at the 36.50 ish mark!
Indeed - see earlier comments - I was always a little confused by the steam, but seems as though it's a coolant leak. Thanks for watching.
Nice boiling 31!
Could never work out why the boiler was running on that one.
@@tonyb6376 I thought it might be coming from the cooling system as it seems to be near where the radiators are, perhaps it had overheated.
@@FM60260 Yes that makes a lot more sense
Wot proper trains looked like yeah....not these namby pamby plastic things ..nah wot i mean.
Thanks for watching
