It’s amazing that traditional car manufacturers throw away their advantage in refined and functional interiors in favor of competing with Tesla in minimizing every possible control in favor of just bland plastic interior with LCDs. Huge mistake.
The X3 has always been more of a price-conscience vehicle, so having cheaper materials isn't necessarily unexpected. It just seems to be more prevalent than in generations past.
BMW made a number of significant improvements to this model with almost no price increase. That’s the big news here not that the door opener is plastic. The engine is better and the handling is better. The look of the body and the interior is a personal choice. I find the interior to be very design forward and it will still look current in 5 years. It’s easy to criticize much harder to create something new.
Some could argue that if cost-cutting for materials was applied then the vehicle did get a price increase, inferior quality parts can reduce the cost/price but it still changes the value of the vehicle. Time will tell how this model does. I've seen some on the road, personally I think the typical X3 buyer isn't going to care as much about the materials used on the inside.
This is a capybara! I insisted ok my dealer to provide me with the last G01 possible. hope this design will be corrected same as the absence of buttons!
Capybara+that amazon statue face ? Looks like they are going for a native american futuristic design. The thing about changing so much is that subconsciously ppl like better the oldr designs because they are used to it. Thats the only reason A Habit. Designs and trends change and so will what ppl like.
I'm reminded of the E65 7 Series, which many felt was beyond ugly when it launched, and made the previous E38 appreciate in demand, selling out as buyers wanted the classic look. The E65 went on to outsell the previous generation, selling about 20,000 more units with the same production length of the E38. This X3 may end up being the same situation. Only time will tell!
It is! The PR manger for BMW likes the french slogan plate. I like to think I started a trend back in 2013 when I got my French Slogan plate, as a lot of the journalists I knew at the time had no idea they existed. My S-Class currently sports those.

cost cutting and today's public is unfortunately really really dumb. they will buy anything for the badge and bmw knows this.
Volvo seems to have gone all in with that, I don't understand why.
BMW designers went to work for Kia while Kia designers moved to BMW.
LOL!
Definitely looks like a Capybara 🤭🤭🤭
It's certainly the first thing I thought!
The perception of internal quality is absolutely disappointing.

Was thinking of getting rid of my 2023 X1 for an X3. Not anymore. This is so ugly!!!
Might be best to hold onto what you've got.
the only bmw left, that looks good is X5
Always has thankfully.

What is this? It looks so ugly for me..
I feel a lot of people agree with you.
Cool Franco plate

@PRNTestDrive tant à découvrir! Bonne année.
That's one ugly car right there internally and externally.
Seems like you aren't the only one who thinks so!
This car sucks. Whoever come up with this design should be fired
OOF
I agree 100%
absolutely correct!!
Another poor review. Mentions nothing on the improvements this car has over the past generation. Nice looking inside and out.
Victor went over the enhancements over the previous generation during his test drive.
There are no improvements dude
Vraiment vilain niveau design…
haha!
So ugly look
Seems to be the consensus from viewer comments so far.
boo m w
Lol!
It looks flat and boring 😢
Oof!
