Native Hawaiian here, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TRAVEL TO ANY HAWAIIAN ISLAND!! We are having a water crisis on several islands and tourist are a priority over the residents for water usage. The Navy is literally poisoning the water on Oʻahu with jet fuel. Hawaiʻi has a huge wild fire started by the Army. Also, Hawaiʻi is illegally occupied by the United States and us Kānaka Maoli want sovereignty. The UN recognizes Hawaiʻi as illegally occupied but SCOTUS throws out every case we present. The “deals” the US has tried to offer us to be recognized similar to a reservation makes it even harder for us to get sovereignty so we vote no. We only make up 10% of the state population but over 50% of the homeless population. Tourism only hurts us. The median price of a single family home is $1,000,000. You are only hurting us Natives by coming here.
