Dynamic WT-9 Rotax 916 160HP - impressive glider tow at Lunde in Norway

11th may 2024 we had the pleasure of having the only WT-9 916 come demonstrate some glider tows at our airfield in Lunde, Telemark - Norway.
We have a 900m grass runway, that we consider being partly bumpy, and very often wet and heavy. As we are considering ultralights as the future towplane, we wanted to have this demonstrated by an ultralight that has more power than usual 912ULS 100hp. Together with www.sportsfly.no we managed to have the only WT9.16 at the time come demonstrate at our airfield. Also, we got a local WT9 ULS retractable to tow for comparison (when one person in the DG500)
We have made a video with a mix of clips from mobile, drone etc, but we have tried to make it as representable as possible. Hopefully it will give you an idea of how good this strong WT9.16 is for towing gliders.
By memory, we believe the WT9.16 used about 2-3 liter per tow (600-900m)
We did tow the DG-500 with two and one person onboards.
Most of the tows there were one person onboard the towing planes.
