I've been on a Scrambler 1200XC since June of 2020 and have amassed just south of 30k miles. I live and commute in the desert southwest of the US, and I couldn't ask for a better machine for my needs. Being in the desert I frequently see 35-degree temperature swings, and one of the first things I did was install the Triumph accessory heated grips. They were worth every penny, and even a novice mechanic can install them with confidence. The reliability has been superlative. Additionally, I concur with your assessment of the headlights. Just this week I was able to procure the (now discontinued) auxiliary driving light kit from Triumph, and my hope is that it will improve the lighting when on low beams.
I'm currently driving a tiger 800xc (2013) and because of my long 36-inch inseam and price point for me its a great beginner bike, but this one would be the dream bike for me, looks absolutely stunning 👌 Thanks for the review!
OMG, I can't believe I stumbled on a full review of the very bike I've just reserved, I don't mean the same model, I mean that exact one. So @scotty_beast_rider should I buy it ? That lowside and the few red lines got me scratching my head I must admit. If you see that@@scotty_beast_rider let me know !
Wow man you got star quality mate! really good in front of the cam Scotty.🤩🤩 What a brilliant review. The Scram really does sound like a very good machine. You're deffo an honorary scot mate!
Great video, congrats! 👍 Unfortunately I sold my XC one year ago and now I am thinking about to buy it again. I am looking forward to your next review. Best regards from Switzerland.
I agree... it's just the most beautiful bike out there, specially in green. I'm looking for one now, and this review made me want it more. Great job, thanks!
Aftermarket exhaust from the guy over in Newcastle is a no brainer. He has got a great reputation as he does good gear, he is honest, with great attention to detail and his prices are fair. He is called George.
Very nice Scrambler!! I had one for 6 months and LOVED it! Same color as yours...Very reliable and I agree with you on the tires!! Seat was nice too!! Great review!!💚💚👍👍
It's almost certainly going to be my next bike. I've currently got a Tiger Explorer but it really is too heavy for me, or indeed for anyone except the Hulk. My wife has a brand new T120 but it's a bit dinky for my 6ft frame, so Scrambler it is. We're hoping to move to the UK in '25 from our current home in Texas so I'll probably wait until then before pulling the pin. Nice review and filled with good info.
Thank you - great review and very helpful. Looks like your low-side was related with the mud on the road, should always choose the dry path when possible or take it slow and careful.
love the bike mate i even got one myself and loving it an heated grip are really good and plug an play so easy diy fit yourself especialy for comuting in this weather we are having at the moment hopefully santa can get you some if you have been a good boy this year lol. all the best and safe travels
Yep, have one too and love it. About the modes: if nothing else, they mean that you can keep yours in “sport” and folks who want a different map can use the other ones, or even the configurable “rider” - which makes a bike more versatile for all sorts of people, right? 👍🏻👍🏻
If you have a problem with wind in your face, for very little expense you could fit a small wind deflector to the top of your existing screen, they are adjustable so it's easy to suit different conditions.
@Luke hi, I got mine via EBay, some have a single point fixing and some have two pint fixing, I went with the single point because it is a bit more adjustable. I'm not shore of the make, probably from China but it dose the job well and it looks fine. Hope that helps.
After watching your video I see you are missing a MOD, I will send you one and see if you like it! 👍👍🤝🤝 The crash bars on the lower engine was smart as I didnt have any when I put mine on its side in the mud..... because of the tires...
Such a beauty of a bike. Have to admit.... The most expensive bike I've ever had and I did get a bank loan for it.... Love at first sight 🥰👍🏻👍🏻 no regrets ☺️ Thanks for watching 😊
Hey man, I love your videos and this bike. I'm very tempted. However I need your advice whether or not this bike is for me. This is a large displacement bike, and I know that displacement isn’t ‘entirely’ equal between bikes - it’s more about torque/HP curves and tuning. Therefore, I’m not convinced that this wouldn’t be a decent choice for what I’m looking for. I’m also looking at the speed twin in 1200. I know it’s the same engine. I'm not exactly a beginner. I rode mopeds for about 5 yrs when I was in my late teens. Always driven a manual car and recently got my US bike license. I haven’t owned a bike for years. I need a ‘one and done’ bike. I don’t have the luxury of trading up over time, so I'm asking you the following question. Could this be a 'one and done' bike? ie something I could use to gently get re-acquainted with riding, grow/learn at the same time, and never need anything else? I’ve sat on one in the dealership. I’m 5’9” 32-33 in leg. I can 90% flat foot it but I still may go for the low seat option. Please let me know what you think. Thanks again.
Honestly, this is a great bike for all levels. You can use the modes to make it less aggressive but it's more about the low end pull on this bike. I let my brother ride it and he only just passed his test. Very easy bike to ride. I'm only 5'8" with a 29" inseam so you will be more stable than me. Accessories for the Scrambler are limited and expensive. But if it's the bike you want... Then don't let anyone stop you.
www.unitgarage.com/triumph/modern_classics/scrambler_1200_xc/special_parts I bought from Italy 👍🏻 There is still import duty to be paid unfortunately, just as a reminder 👍🏻
So far I'm at 8300 miles and no problems, other that the spark plug cap rubber needing replacement... £4 to replace 👍🏻 But mine is still low mileage ❤️
Scotty you certainly are a true old school biker who was tinkering with those old, srraightforward machines i call them real bikes. Back then bikes were a cheapet form of transport and no electronic rider aids, abs and much better for it.
I think this bike is great for first big bike if you have good experience of riding and if you are confident and take it easy... I think it's a great first bike 👍🏻 but as @MystifiedAphid said he has a good point... Getting your feet down as a learner is so much more comfortable for beginner riders👍🏻 Hope that helps But at the end of the day.... Buy what you love and take it easy to begin with 👍🏻

Well... That really is a great all around bike! Loved your lane filtering with the banjo music!

It is a fantastic machine and so easy to ride... With loads of low down grunt.
Thanks for watching 😁👍🏻

Totally agree 👍🏻
The filtering, as they call it in the UK, looks to have saved him 3 hours in crap traffic. 😃

Happy New Year to you 😁
First rate video, Scotty! Will test ride a "new" 2022 1200 XC today (hope to trade in my 2021 Street Triple)

Definitely rider error on my part.... Lesson learned 👍🏻

Thank you for honest review, it helps Sir!
ОЧень хороший мотоцикл. Спасибо за видео. Удачи!

I hope Santa brings me some.... If not, will be my next purchase 😁
Great review Scotty and love your shirt 🏴
Cheers mate 😁👍🏻🥃
Good crash bars, quite solid which is great. Rugged all in metal.
Great video. This bike does everything I want it to do and its capabilities far exceed my skill.
That is definitely the same for me. Thank you 😁👍🏻

That's very true 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for watching 😊
Great review bro! Well thought out!
Cheers 😘😘
Dart make 3 different height screens for reasonable money.
I got the middle size and it takes the wind off my chest
Loved your examples of riding! 😂
🤣👍🏻👍🏻
If you have a problem with wind in your face, for very little expense you could fit a small wind deflector to the top of your existing screen, they are adjustable so it's easy to suit different conditions.
Great idea.... I will definitely be investing in one 👍🏻👍🏻

I blame the tyres everytime.... I slide down the road 😂
@@scotty_beast_rider I know what you mean!! I slid in the field too!!😂😂😅😅👍👍
Loved the looks and then added that ugly screen and top box. 😂
😂😂😂
I cannot argue with you about that.... But it's just so practical 🤦🏻😂
Ya sport mode is the only mode that I don't use. Rain mode is great, nice power delivery. With my ECU tune, sport mode is crazy, not needed.
We are all different.... Sports mode is the only mode for me... Suits my style of riding I guess 👍🏻
Love this bike. I am seriously considering one. What is your luggage set up I couldn’t make out the name of the luggage rack you use 😀
Thanks for watching
Givi topbox and a Unit Garage rear rack 👍🏻😁
such a timely review :). Were there other scrambler or retros you were comparing this to?
Thank for watching 😊
I haven't compared my Scrambler to any other type.... As I haven't tried out the others. 👍🏻
maybe the rear tyre isn't wide enough for wet weather?
Cant afford now but i kinda find this bike a coolest bike i seen
Such a beauty of a bike.
Have to admit.... The most expensive bike I've ever had and I did get a bank loan for it.... Love at first sight 🥰👍🏻👍🏻 no regrets ☺️

Looking to add a 1200 scrambler to my bikes, good review. What camera do you use , looked good on hard knot pass
Thank you ☺️
I just use an Akaso Brave 7 not the best but does the job... I will probably upgrade camera in summer 👍🏻
Where did you order your Unit Garage bits from, I can only seem to find that we have to order them from the States in the U.K?
www.unitgarage.com/triumph/modern_classics/scrambler_1200_xc/special_parts
I bought from Italy 👍🏻
There is still import duty to be paid unfortunately, just as a reminder 👍🏻
Same for me when I wanna buy parts from UK dealer :((
Long term very high mileage review to know any motor, gearbox and electrical gremlins
So far I'm at 8300 miles and no problems, other that the spark plug cap rubber needing replacement... £4 to replace 👍🏻

Can you tell me the make of the rear rack you purchased please
Unit Garage rear rack 👍🏻
@scotty_beast_rider thanks for the info, also did the givi E251 monokey plate fit well on it ?
Hello, what kind of windscreen is that? Thanks
Unit Garage 👍🏻
Can I ask where you had the exhaust from please ?
www.tecbikeparts.com/products/shop-parts/triumph-aircooled/exhausts/
Would you recommend it as first bike for beginners?
Hmm… It’s physically the biggest of the Bonnie range - I’d say ST900, T100, or T120 would be better for newer riders 👍🏻 just my opinion, tho, ofc
I think this bike is great for first big bike if you have good experience of riding and if you are confident and take it easy... Im 170cm tall do you recommend this bike 😬
I'm 174cm and I'm very happy on the scrambler 👍🏻
Best thing is to go and try one if possible 👍🏻
Yeah, I had metzelers on my Thruxton, orrible tires.
You have to clean it? 🤪
😂
What is your height?
5'8"ft or 174cm 👍🏻
@@scotty_beast_rider can you flat foot your bike?
@@piyalkarmakar2370 not quite flat footed... Balls of my feet.
@@scotty_beast_rider I'm considering this or the Speed Twin. At 5'8" also, I'm leaning more towards the ST, but the Scrambler has Ohlins 😁
Great video, great review mate. I completely agree with everything you said 😉 good job mate! 😉👊🏻. (leegingerninja) 😉
Thank you mate 😁👍🏻👍🏻
