It was amazing to me how some people completely missed how she was calling out the hypocrisy of people claiming to be Christian yet not acting like a good person. People only hear what they want to hear sometimes. I personally was so proud of her for calling people out including the portion of her fans who are very toxic!
Thank you for breaking this down. I think there is ingrained misogyny that wants women to stay in their place and be 'good'. The fact that Taylor has grown up, evolved and challenges norms and explores how complicated it is to be a famous, successful woman I find incredibly refreshing and empowering.
Really enjoyed your takes. Agree with the three "macro eras" you defined. I love that you compared TTPD to Red because of the emotional rawness and I agree. And Red was, imo, a transition and transformation album (and one my favorites). TTPD feels the same way. I'm curious what we'll see next considering the evolution we saw post Red.
Just found this video and its fantastic! I also grew up in a religious household, was also warned about Harry Potter, and also have family members who judge me too harshly for the joy that Taylor brings me. Guess thats why we're all Swifties right? At least Ive finally found my people lol
Thank you so much! Yes!! You have found us! So many people just want to hate and refuse to understand, but I felt it was important to set the record straight… even if it is just to other Swifties! Haha 😂
This is insane and gives the medieval times when people were burning WOMEN just because they were different. In Europe this isn't even a conversation, no ones think Taylor is a witch or wtv. America is another world really, a world in the past.
Have you done any storytelling and connections between all of her mash ups? I would love to hear your take on all of those. Good job I love this channel.
Not yet but this is something I want to do! I do think she uses the surprise songs based on her feelings at the time! Maybe not every mash up but I do think there are quite a few that may tell us more about the songs she chose for sure! I want to do Peter x Evermore mash up for sure!
I adore her. My family adores her. And we are Christian’s. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saint’s, I was taught to not judge anyone but to love my brothers and sisters all over the world. It’s very sad that many Christian’s have let her down…she didn’t deserve that. I do hope someday her faith in the Savior himself is restored, but that’s her journey and not mine. I just hope that she will feel how many of us love her, respect her and see her for who she truly is. She is a good, kind, thoughtful, strong, gracious, talented and wonderful person. I will always have her back.
I’m so pleased to have watched this video. I’m not religious but do believe in god. Christianity should be a force for good and love. The majority of religious people are well meaning and humble and understand that being a sinner is part of life. It is being human and imperfect. Unfortunately there are those religious that feel they are entitled to beat others, with a false narrative because they don’t understand the context. They conflate religion and party politics. Good Christian’s can be democrat or republican or non aligned. Taylor swift is a highly successful billionaire who is a generous and compassionate person. Not all billionaires achieve this. No matter how many ways people try and twist the narrative to she is not a good roll model or she is satanic or has no talent, they are all so far from the truth. It is not Taylor swift fault that so many people without any knowledge of her are cruel and inflammatory towards her. She may not be the very best singer and she laughs about her dancing but is a truly outstanding poet and songwriter. In the American tradition she is a very driven honest hard worker who I believe has attributes that god would be pleased with. Jealousy is a worldwide human sin that even some Christian’s are guilty of.
She does push the limits in Guity as Sin. That’s probably the most uncomfortable I get. Only because she talks about rolling the stone away and being crucified anyway. I like the song a lot, but I do cringe at some of the lyrics. I love God, and I just want to obey Him, but it’s so hard to know what’s right and wrong with this stuff. I’m like please don’t make me give up my Tay Tay! I know she’s a democrat but, Daddy, I love her! 😩
Here's my take as a Veteran Swiftie. As Taylor grew throughout her career so did I as a fan. In this case, we're no longer young girls but older women. Taylor Swift Debut: Christian good girl vibes Fearless: Christian good girl vibes Speak Now: Christian good girl vibes RED: Not so much the good girl anymore (All Too Well)- Loss of innocence and self 1989: Trying to become someone else (rise in popularity)- SLUT! and Style influences talking about sleeping around with men "His hands are in my hair his clothes in my room."- the 1st time she ever mentioned intimidating details of her sexual life Reputation: Bad girl vibes (The old Taylor is dead) drunk 3X references Lover: Political chick (Spread of liberalism) - MOST HATED TS ALBUM FALSE God??? Folklore: Taylor grows up (Mature AF) Evermore: Taylor grows up (Mature AF) Midnights: Dark Taylor "“Did you realize she was out on the town on your mind with another dickhead guy." TTPD: Dark Taylor (AGAIN) " Ah, good ole’ backseat-of-the-car sex. A classic." (I WASN'T INTERESTED IN THE TTPD SO I SKIPPED IT)- Too repetitive TAYLOR IS A PEOPLE PLEASER no matter how many times she acts nonchalantly about what people say. Taylor has transformed herself to fit Hollywood standards not for herself. Ex.) Liberal, sexually expressive, false spiritual (Witchy), etc For example, promoting liberal ideologies isn't my view but was an implemented strategy Taylor made during the Lover era to attract a certain audience and promote her album. She most likely gets compensation for speaking about it in the media too. *We all know Taylor never speaks about a social issue that doesn't benefit her career I don't fit with who she is today like how I did when she was younger and it can be because I have a life completely different than hers. I don't agree with many of her personal choices because they don't resonate with who I am personally. I don't connect with her music the way I used to because I have different values and morals than Taylor. We became indifferent. She seems to live under the limelight of Hollywood which caused her to change the majority of her values/morals which is most likely bc of the results of fame/money. I hope you guys don't take this comment as hate. 'm still a fan just not as big anymore. If you'd like to ask questions about my POV or share your perspective on any points I'd be interested in hearing from you. -Thanks!
Often people build their views around their own prejudices, fears, and insecurities. People who hate Taylor and come up with those ideas have weak faith and strong prejudices. They feel a lot of insecurities about other people who aren't like them. Taylor isn't "small enough" for them. She's got big dreams, big imagination and supports marginalized people groups. Those people feel threatened by people like that. It's the same reason many "Christians" voted the way they did. You know you have found a strong Christian with a strong faith and the God they worship is all powerful, compassionate when they show Christ-like qualities. It's like the weak "alpha males" who have such weak masculinity that holding their wife's purse while she goes to the restroom or tries on clothes is out of the question. It says much more about their character (or lack thereof) than anything.
Oh, no. Karma isn’t Biblical. That’s the devil appearing as an angel of light. Don’t be led astray if you’re following the narrow path. If not, then carry on. lol. I’m struggling with the same thing you are with Taylor Swift, so I understand. But karma isn’t a Christian thing. I understand the video because she’s literally taking the high road and shrugging off the haters in hell. People have issues with the imagery. I just think personally, and that’s just me, that there needs to be caution and it’s best to avoid such imagery. I don’t know but I fear exalting the dark one accidentally. If anyone disagrees, save your energy. I do me. You do you. Just wanted to send caution to not confuse Christianity with energy; new age or ancient religious practices, not because they’re evil but because satan uses these decoys to deceive us.
Broadly speaking as a Christian and not a Hindu, can I not argue that Karma is "reaping what we sow" which very much is Biblical (read Galatians 6:7-9)? It is obvious in the visuals that Ms. Swift doesn't delve deeper into Hinduism or Buddhism than grasping the idea of cause and effect, our actions and the natural consequences, which makes sense because, famously, others' deeds and words have proved so cataclysmic in her world. As a lover of language, she probably appreciates that the Sanskrit word karma actually means "action" or "deed" as well and is engaged in wordplay as she is "acting" out what could be her "Karma" pinterest page in the video. But that again is just another viewpoint.
@ I can see that. I think I’m freaked out by all the crazy things going on in the world and just wanting to do what God wants of me. There’s so much conflicting information and noise out there I just pray God will show me mercy if I do something or say something or think something that I don’t know is unChristian because of the dark one’s trickery and lies. I pray the Holy Spirit will come into me and guide me through these turbulent times.

I really enjoyed your analysis of the journey from a princess to a poet; I thought it was very insightful!
Thank you so much! This was definitely a love project. 😂😂 Something I am very passionate about. Haha
It would be so amazing if she was a witch, but I think it's a ludicrous rumor.
Someone said she was mocking God and I was like no actually… she’s mocking PEOPLE
Exactly this! She’s mocking the people who are so hard on her every hour of every day.

Went to Eras tour
Got cursed by Taylor Swift
*worth it*
(Hahaha just kidding I can’t afford the ERAS tour)
If I hadn’t gotten in with certified fan I wouldn’t have been able to! The resale prices are INSANE. I got lucky. 😭😭
reputation walked so evermore could jog and so ttpd could run

Kanye show have been banned for life from any awards show.
Is it true that Kanye was actually protecting Taylor from Beyoncé because people are supposed to thank Beyoncé or suffer a curse ?
no.
Not in the slightest.
@ I’m finding a lot of information to the contrary. How is one so certain? Do you know these people?
Love your insight and English major approach!🫶🏽
Thank you so much! 😊
