Hi Britney. Don't let people getting mad or turned off from our message be what stops us. That is what Satan, the enemy, wants. First, be always prepared to give an answer. Study scripture daily, not to say "I read X number of chapters today" but to fully get the nuggets of truth, such as why did Jesus say he'd be dead for "3 days and 3 nights" when traditionally people say he died on Friday, making it only 1 1/2 days? And then have JOY to tell, but also know their eternity and soul are at stake
Then remember that there are times we do go up to someone, go up to their door, or build a relationship and be up front with them over lunch or dinner, and tell them of our God who lives. And most people, if you are close, will tell you about their struggles...show concern and get them to talk about the struggles, which usually have sins that they admit are wrong...use that as a spring board to tell them how that can be washed away, and they need to repent, and to put faith in the Faithful God.
You will know them by their fruit - Matt 7:17 Faith without works is dead - James 2:14-19 The fine line is that we are saved by GRACE, a gift that we cannot earn (Eph 2:8-9) BUT if we REALLY believe what Christ did for us, it will be followed by obedience to His word...
John Piper & Paul Washer agree, as we all should, because God's word says "Write it on the tablet of your heart". Francis isn't saying not to memorize scripture, he's using hyperbole to point out how Christians can behave religiously about learning, discussing & studying the word, but miss the point that it's the instruction manuel that guides us as we carry out our marching orders. If u r a believer & trust His word was a roadmap for the disciples, then why wouldn't it be for your life as well?
My friend! I want to tell you Jesus was no mere human. Yes, he was full man, but he was full God as well. I say this to you in the most loving way I can! I wish you could hear my voice right now. My brother, Jesus willingly died not as the form of a human sacrifice, in which you may match with negative connotations. Jesus willingly sacrificed his life for our sins, to take on the wrath for what we deserve for our sins. So that if we truly believe in Him we may have the free gift eternal life!
I am not saying do nothing. I am saying don't talk about what you did at the throne. Chan is precisely saying that we need to have better things to talk about at the throne. Listen again.
What's the contradiction there? Jesus is not included in the 'we' of Isaiah, but much moreso he was on the other side of the proverbial gun informing the people through Isaiah that there was none of them who were righteous at all. Then He came and the whole world was turned on its head because He died and rose from the grave.
Francis Chan, if you stand before the judge and start talking about how much you accomplished... Your finished, bro. No one stand before the throne safely, Jesus is not impressed with you Francis. A hint to all, at the throne, one hope: grace.
So are you saying do nothing? He's not saying go to God and talk About how much you have accomplished, but go and make disciples. You've missed the point.
donovan santamaria Good question... I really can't say much but that, Your son died for the sins of the world And that I have accepted Jesus and threw Him and Him alone I am saved. Because we are saved by His grace alone threw faith alone because of Him alone. And we are to follow Jesus and trust in Him.
no not really, you can throw down the context card all you like it still does not change the facts. The bible is filled with internal and external contradictions, futher more if you look at the bible as a method of control written in the bronze age it makes alot more sense. Look into to the history of "the word of god" it is shocking.
Peponi - you're sounding like a raving fundamentalist. Use your brains - quoting something written for one audience from the Old Testament then comparing it to a quote from the New Testament written for different readers and post crucifixion is not smart. My guess is you want contradictions. Means you don't have to change a thing in your life doesn't it.
It takes friendship to make disciples which is why we need to make friends with sinners like Jesus.
making more laborers leads to making more disciples
Wow, this is so true.
There also comes a point where we have to feed ourselves!
That's good!

I love how all the laughing ended when he got real about coming before God.
oh what a teaser! gimme the whole message! : )

Obeying is believing.
A work-less/disobedient faith is merely an ability to mentally/theoretically conceive of Jesus Christ.

Everything in the bible comes down to context (Not contradiction)

I am saying this... what will you say when you stand before the judge, Tyler?

See you in glory Tyler ;-)
Back at you!
Isaiah 64:6
Hebrew 9:14
a contradiction in the bible, say it is not so

wow, you really believe that human sacirifice is moral and it cleanses you of "sin" thats kind of fucked up bro
