      When you have Brady you can ride the aura to stretches of good play. The 08 Matt Cassel team went undefeated the season before. Missed the playoffs without Brady. When Brady left to Tampa the team looked good for a while without him. Problem is, the longer he was gone the less the Aura of past success remained. The less cache bill held. He was not caught in the middle , they asked him to make the throws a second year nfl QB should and he could not do it as all the other teams had the book on him so they reverted the offence to minimize his weaknesses and mistakes , when Bailey Zappe was in you see how the offence was suppose to work , Mac ( the backup ) could not run it .

  • @thospeterson
    @thospeterson Год назад +10

    Watching Patriots fans gush about Zappe feels just like Jets fans calling for Mike White to be their Franchise QB the last couple of years... Theres a big difference between being a solid backup QB and being a Franchise QB. Mac Jones clearly has more upside potential and NE clearly was dysfunctional with their coaching setup last year, so it will be interesting to see if O'Brien rights the ship. He's got the resume and experience to be a HUGE coaching upgrade over last year. I understand Belichick wanting to motivate using the stick all the time, but a coach has to have other tools in the tool box as that gets old with todays players. I don't think you manage a QB, with all the myriad of things that position requires the player to track, master and ultimately excel at, the same way you're managing Linebackers or DB's. Mac needs a little Pete Carroll IMHO. Structure, yes, some tough love, but also some rah, rah in him to be willing to say "I love you" now and then.. How about trying to build up a guy now and then?? Theres only been one Brady who could dislike the tough love, and still perform at an elite level regardless. I see NE using up and spitting out Mac by the end of the season. Then he'll go somewhere else and be a totally serviceable QB... a-la Geno Smith. He's no HOF QB.. but he's an NFL starter... and NE's issues run way deeper than the QB position. They're 4th in their division as measured by the talent on their roster... After Mac's gone they'll be right where they were when Brady left... Needing to find a QB.. because they aren't willing to do what it takes to develop a young QB who isn't a one in a million player...

    One question based on last year to all the Zappe stans. IF Zappe was so great AND BB hates Mac Jones, why exactly did they go straight back to Jones as soon as he was healthy? I mean the fickle fans wanted Zappe so he was not going to lose the fans. Rumors of Judge preferring Zappe so he was not going to lose the one yr QB coach. Explain why they ran right back to Jones? Also why would anyone believe BB is not being authentic? He had Brady and still drafted Jimmy G in the 2nd Rd. BB has always wanted his best team, he will play whom ever wins the job. Always has, always will.
    I am also so tied of the division was bad BS and that is the only reason the Pats were good. Stop the nonsense. These talking heads are always so lazy. 1) The Pats only swept the division twice in all that time(once because they went undefeated.) Division games are almost always tough regardless, because the teams know each other so well. 2) If you remove the Dominant team from collective w/L records for each division, for years the AFC east was near the top for most collective wins when removing the Patriots from the equation. People forget when you remove the Dominant team from the division, you are removing all those losses from the division opponents as well. Considering they play the top team twice.

      Zappe pooped his pants the second half against the bears. Without the run game, play action with 6+ blockers, zappe couldn't even throw over the line, they just kept him in the pocket tipping his throws until zappe decided to throw outside and the bears just picked him off. People complain about McCorkle's arm, zappe's arm is much worse, weaker and way less accurate. Zappe can't play in shotgun and can't get the ball to a receiver who's not wide open or have all day to adjust to the ball.

Now you go 6-4 the rest of the time and that 12-4 and probably a 1 or 2 seed being almost average outside your division. It's why Brady didn't win a SB every year. They didn't have great teams a lot of years there. They just got to the playoffs because that year they got a 6-0 start. There was a year or two one of the teams didn't suck. Yawn. They went 10-7 with Mac as a rookie. Last year was terrible due to the OC choice. Now they have Bill O’Brien who is as good if not better than Josh. They’ll win 11+ and make the playoffs and everyone who trashed them all offseason will act as though they knew It all along 😂

    Zappe reminds me of Drew Brees 👌🏼 But we’ll see. Football is all about competing. Nobody’s guaranteed a spot to start. Gotta work for it.

    Mac is a human being of course he’s gonna explode too bad Paleček doesn’t like it craft tank in a trade and we got Mac for peanuts. Belichick will be gone hopefully after this season, get his ass fired craft needs to stop being a cheap bastard and Star opening his wallet up and get a general manager to make the right decision to make him pack for trans so we can get out of this mess.
