The purpose of this video clearly states that it is educational, which means you should research the information for yourself. As I am examining the ingredients, the only chemical that I would question is the bleach. I am unsure if you are referring to bleaching powder, like the one used for bleaching hair. I can understand why there are many steps involved, as there may be living matter in the straw. Additionally, the omission of the boiling process necessitates taking extra precautions to ensure a clean procedure. Upon researching all of the ingredients, I believe formalin is a chemical used to release gas in the water, and Chuna is the lime that people use to clean the straw or is it fertilizer. I would like to express that this information has motivated me to study further in order to learn more about cultivating mushrooms safely. I appreciate the fact that the cultivation is done outdoors. I will make an effort to tag you in my completed project. However, I will not be using mushroom seeds but rather culture instead simple because it's most effect here where I live. But I can't wait to try the seeds. I absolutely appreciate the cotton in the holes to prevent bacteria from destroying your fruit. Thank you again.

Worried about the bleach but stomping the substrate with dirty bare feet like he's making wine is ok? The bleach is the least of my concerns here. Educational alright. Taught me alot. Like never eat mushrooms from this guy.

I would like to do this cultivation process but I can't translate these ingredients into my language, I was really impressed with your cultivation, and how effective it is. Can you help me? It's true that he does a good job but he uses formalin and bleach. Formalin causes cancer and bleach can destroy the gastrointestinal lining. The workers didn't used gloves while mixing the chemicals but bothered to put on gloves when they were sprinkling it. What's worse is that he could've done the entire process without any chemicals whatsoever.

    SAFETY FIRST
Hydrated Lime is potentially hazardous- so be careful when handling it.
I like to wear gloves, safety glasses and a mask. Getting it on your skin can cause rashes and burns, breathing it into your lungs can cause respiratory issues, and getting it in your eyes can be especially dangerous.
Always use protective equipment and don’t say I didn’t warn you!

There is much better ways to do this anyways my friend so look up others and keep researching old techniques and the new techniques.. see which products are more widely available and easier to get hands on … pick out for those IMO also should be most environmental safe option used too .. which the chemicals used in this video is not the best thing sample of doing it most sustainable, local and safe for all in environment around you .. all you do will enter the air you breathe , the soil you walk and lay upon and the water you drink , cook , bathe and garden with ..
take much needed time to study and do this right :) we need mushrooms for healing people badly these days and not enough farmers extra so local growing mushroom farmers are needed .. you can make large profits off these crops also if in poverty this will be game and life changer to grow such things ..then you have many uses being exposed mushrooms can be used for and will be put to work for later on .. such as for installations for house to keep cool and hot during extreme weathers and temps, that is placed between walls and in ceiling and so on … they also have found out mushrooms can eat up and clean up oil spills .. mushrooms have even been found to have a fast-forward time effect on areas exposed /suffering from atomic explosion disasters ..
It seems these magical little beings are not only great for our health and canceling out cancers and diseases.. but also for our homes , gardens , oceans, factories known to be dangerously polluted and oil spills /atomic waste spills ..
who knows what else awaits in what’s possible with mushrooms out there too is exciting to think on .. and a bit sad and scary to think on , given the fact we are destroying so many rich forests and all these areas that may have plants , mushrooms and animals that could been cures we could use to fix all the worlds most serious issues :) I have lots of love and faith in our little friends now .
Mushrooms and honey bees ! Need you

He really doesn’t add so much chemical. The substrate should be pasteurized for reliable colonization. If hot pasteurization is not an option - It takes a lot of energy to get that much mass to a safe temperature, and I’m assuming this video comes from an area well under the poverty line. The guy is using a freaking pointy stick to make gas exchange holes for Pete’s sake.
That said, he does add lots of things to the substrate, many of which are naturally occurring substances that enable/influence colonization and fruiting, or are used to “cold pasteurize” the straw. Anything else is used as a temporary anti-contamination agent, and will break down quickly, giving the mycelium time to get established and build its own immune system. I dont see much “harmful” chemicals making it through to the final product.
That’s just my opinion, I could be wrong.
