  • Over 3.1-million Holden Commodores have been built and sold in Australia over the past 37-years, spanning 4 key model generations.
    But with this, the 2016 Holden Commodore VF Series II, have Holden saved their very best until last?
    While VFII is just an update, there are some pretty decent changes.
    All sports models including SV6 get a revised front end. Calais has an update to the rear, including new tail lamps. The Sportwagen receives cool LED lamps at the rear as well.
    But the big story is with SS, SSV and SSV-Redline models which receive a 6.2-litre, 304kW, 570Nm, LS3 V8 engine as standard...

    To my Australian brothers, Thanks for making these great Holden Commodores. Sorry to tell you that all the presses, welding and ancillary machines have now been shipped from your Holden factory in Elizabeth SA to our GM Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly where the new Chevy SS will be built in 2021 with a minor cosmetic makeover from the 2017 model which was built in Australia. In years to come it is possible that these amazing cars will be exported back to Australia from the USA. How mixed up is this? I have driven the Chevy SS and I believe it to be the best 4 door car ever built in the world with its 415hp LS3 V8. Take care.., David Matherson

      Lol, they are great cars but GM will not be building them in Detroit in 2021 or any other year. It's a nice thought, though.

      Lovely cars, love the VF's I have a wagon. Speaking of 4 door cars, have you driven a tuned Ford Barra turbo, such as xr6 turbo, F6 or G6E Turbo? The Aussie Barra Turbos are insane and make crazy power easily, 10 second 700+ HP daily drivers are quite common. Check out Ross Reviews here on YT. I love both the Holden and Fords, have one of each.

    Bloody beautiful looking car the VFII is. No matter which model you bought and see, they all look stunning and a year on since production has ended, the VFII still looks like it came straight out of the factory. Well done Holden.

      +MaZEEZaM Government has little influence, it's all on the side of GM in Detroit that has global product and development strategies, the GFC threw many of their plans into disarray and GM/H was unfortunately a victim of all this. Throwing more money wouldn't have made a difference, GM's Stefan Jacoby made this clear at the Detroit Motor Show in January this year. The rear-drive Commodore program was actually killed off at least 4 years ago..talk that politicians from either side of could have made a difference is laughable.

      As you are getting impolite, I shall remain polite. I assumed Chevy SS was built in Australia and it was nothing more than a chevy badged Holden witht left hand drive and side markers. Yes indeed Chevy produces the engine, but just because Mercedes uses Renault engines, that doesn't make an A-Class Mercedes a Renault.

      +Brandon Roveta "still better last hoorah than fords"...? i dont see how the same commodore with a slightly bigger engine is better than a top of the line fpv falcon at half price dressed as an xr8, plus the xr6 sprint is going to have the f6 engine.

    Don't be fooled. for all their technical advancements It's business as usual with these Commodores After dropping the best part of 60K on a brand 'NEW' Redline that has yet to clock 5.000k's, it has developed a massive engine oil leak , leaves a foot round oil leak on the drive over night .
    Another trip back to the dealer for some 'Shit Happens' attitude.
    Thought buying a new car would give me a break from this sort of crap at least for a couple of years :-(

  • @jasonswift7098
    @jasonswift7098 9 лет назад

    This guy is talking crap the vents at the front and to both sides are to cool the brakes not to reduce drag coefficient. You dont need charge points in the back of the car!

    • @Drivecomau
      @Drivecomau  9 лет назад +1

      Cooling the brakes might be a byproduct but the side vents are absolutely there as an aero aid. The larger front facia is designed to help cooling but the bigger maw increases drag. The vents help bring the Cd back to the 0.31 of the VF series 1. The car is still less fuel efficient thanks to the bigger engine though.
