    I'm the official coach of Glen Durrant among many others through straight to thr point darts.
    I'm also a part of Glen Durrants' coaching business.
    All my video's are based around how to play darts as well as advise on equipment and general darts setup with the aim to guide dart players in their darting journey.
    I am a full-time darts coach working with PDC Professionals and armatures alike.
    I throw around an 80 average myself with my left hand due to injury and dartitis in my right arm.

    This is exactly how I throw as it was most comfortable for me. But thought it was wrong and kept trying to change it. Thought I was only to use 3 fingers. Knowing one of the best throws this way also is very encouraging. Am still a noob though 😂

    I wonder if he can't fully extend his arm due to his years of doing plastering work? I hear a few in that game have a kind of locked arm because of it

      Prism force intermediate stems.
      Jonny Clayton hardcore kite flights that's been hole punched.
      Standed grip ring the the flight.

    1:13 ,,good contact between the first finger and the thumb''
    I often hear people say that the thumb should be the first finger on the dart and that the first finger and the thumb should have this connection.
    I use Mervyn King Darts and my first finger is placed on the rear scallop, whereas my thumb is placed beneath the middle scallop (two more fingers on the front scallop and point). Would this affect my throw negatively? Why should one have this ,,good contact between first finger and thumb!'' ?

      I apologize, I‘m not a native speaker :)

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  Год назад

      Two reasons..
      1. It's 90% of your actual Grip on the dart, the other fingers are stabilisers.
      2. You can't more your fingers to push the dart when you thumb is significantly in front of your first finger.

      @@Straightdarts Thanks! So I should consider changing my grip, although it feels more natural this way?

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  Год назад

      @@klabund1807 I would definitely try to, the grip need to feel natural though. So practice the change, I can help to look at the way others grip and experiment.

    Also no complete follow through.
    I tried to change my throw and completely extend my arm but I can't find doubles then. Especially those low on the board. With slightly bend arm I seem to find them more

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  Год назад +1

      Everyone seems to confuse the arm extension after the follow though, your probably following, though better with less extention. It's rear but i can happen. I have coached loved like this. 👍 if you watch Barney, Ashton, Priestly, Lowe ect they do the same thing. The extension of the arm helps the follow through for most players, but not everyone.

    • @philbaert
      @philbaert Год назад

      @@Straightdarts Thanks, indeed my form looks like those players. Another difference is that I point with an extented arm to the board and then I relatively fast move the dart backwards before I throw.
      Probably because I've been a basketball player. Moving the ball to your setpoint has to be fast because of the defender 😅. Checking out in darts is like shooting a game winner in basketball 😉

  • @Jacksafc08

    Does he always keep that finger under the point?

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  9 дней назад

      Iv notched he has a slightly different grip in some photos, sometimes he is slightly closer to the noise of the dart and sometimes it's more on the side ofnthe point.

  • @Jacksafc08
    @Jacksafc08 Месяц назад

    Decent throw to replicate or is it more of a natural throw?

    • @Straightdarts
      @Straightdarts  Месяц назад +1

      It's can definitely be replicated, the hard part is getting the worst to more so early. You need to be very soft from the arm with loads of flick. :)
