Alto Professional Product Specialist, Rich Curtis, shows us the Alto Professional Zephyr Series ZMX52 5-Channel Compact Mixer at Full Compass Systems
The ZEPHYR ZMX52 is an 5-channel mixer with just the right about of inputs, outputs, and EQ for solo gigs and multimedia studios. It features one mono channel with a microphone input (with Phantom Power), balanced TRS input, and a two-band EQ and a stereo channel. It also delivers two stereo channels with two balanced TRS inputs each. There's even two-track inputs for things such as audio playback. The ZEPHYR ZMX52 is the perfect compact take-anywhere professional mixer.
I have this mixer hooked up to the audio line in on the back of my computer. I use it for microphones
and midi sound modules. These mixers are very cheap, anybody can use one to record vocals or guitar
with Audacity.
In this day and age there's no excuse for everyone not to record their vocals/performances in their
own home and send projects, tracks or mixdowns via email if your a home producer.
Im kind of new to this. Where/which output on this mixer did you use to connect to the line-in on your computer? Thanks!
The Aux Out is how I connect it to the computer's line-in on the back via a phono to 3.5 jack lead.
Got the mixer yesterday. For it's price, it is really worth it. especially for home recording. I would recommend it for people with a hole in their wallet (if you know what I mean), and record at home with simple instruments or doing a gig.
What software does it come with?
Also is it possible to connect 2 guitars and 1 bass guitar and keys to this mixer while rehearsing?
Hey Guys im looking at getting one of these , I was wondering if they connect to a laptop and can be used as an interface ? Thanks
A little late for 2012, but will I be able to use this for recording like my guitars or bass? I currently play in 2 bands and I am looking for some recording equipment but I'm not exactly rich and I need a little something to record our EP's /Albums with
Hmm. I think I know what is wrong. The problem is that the R inputs and outputs have this problem of creating hum/buzz. Try pluging the output through L (mono) output only, or via the Aux output. Let me know how you got on.
Thanx a million buddy
Hay quá, cám ơn nhiều
wht about using the phonos only in/out as i wouldn need a level control
hi!.. I purchased this for home recording but when I test it the signal is very small I can hear the hum/buzz and my voice but in minimal signal!...can you give me your set up diagram?
hello rich does the alto zm52 only for active pa systems? please let me know thanks kind regards William c adlam thank you so much for your help mate thanks
I just purchased this mixer from musiciansfriend and testing the effects, #12,#13 Flanger & Chorus DO NOT WORK. I have made an audio test on my RUclips page. Any ideas? You can see my audio test on my RUclips page ...
THIS MIXER VS the Behringer Xenyx 502, which one is the noisless?
I have this mixer but haven't used it yet. What would I need to do to use it for getting audio from the desk live and connecting a click track ? So when playing drums could I pan the audio to the left and the click to the right?
+poolking36 Plug the live audio source into the first stereo channel inputs (2 & 3 - left and right, assuming your audio source is output in stereo) pan that channel to the left using the balance knob for that stereo channel.
Now, plug your click track into the second stereo channel inputs (4 & 5 left and right, assuming the click source is output in stereo) and pan that stereo channel to the right using the balance knob for that stereo channel.
Unless you are trying to do something more complex and Ive misunderstood you.
can it be used as a sound card for recording our own song like a home studio
That mixer does not have a USB interface, so it wouldn’t be able to record to a computer on its own. The Behringer XENYX-302-USB does have a USB interface connection, so it can be used to record with a computer. Here's the details on it: www.fullcompass.com/product/422769.html
i was looking to buy 2 of these mixers and join them together (line out to line in) would this work?
Cool Review bro
if channel 1 is mono, why does it have a pan setting?
is there a model with 3 stereos lines IN?
what is the unbalanced TS out put what what do i plug in it
How do I get echo when using a mic ?
hi would this be good for live drumming, as in using for in ear audio feed and click track etc?
Thanks for the question. The ZMX52 should work just fine for a drummer that needs a mix of a small number of sources, like a pre-mixed in-ear monitor feed or click track.
I purchased ZMX52 5-Channel but when I record the signal is very low. Can anybody help me?..thanks:)
Hey, most people use a mic on their amps so then they record guitars through it. My question is, can i take te guitar, plug it into a channel of the mixer (without mic, only the jack cable) and then record it in my computer through the RCA aux out of the mixer?, and if i can, its possible to connect ur guitar, all ur chain of pedals and after them the mixer as i said before into a line channel without using mics?
The level of the audio from a guitar or pedalboard is not meant for the mic preamps in this mixer. Electric guitar also just sounds much better recorded with a mic through and amp because the amp is responsible for so much of the sound. There are interfaces with inputs specific to guitar and there are a variety of amp-less guitar recording products out there some stand-alone some built into the amps. Still, the mic sounds best. So you probably can but you may not like the results when compared to a mic recording.
Ah ok ill take into account, the problem is that my amp is on a friend house were we rehearse, and also my mackie mixer 12 channel, but as i need one for home ive decided to buy this one, and the amp i have home is reallyyy bad so i was thinking to use the guitar directly to the mixer and after with time, buy a new amp to have in my house and start recording with mics. Do u think its ok? or better results will be given even with my bad amp?
+Matias Salles The sound you get from your guitar directly will just be a dry sound of the guitar. Assuming you can get the volume to a reasonable level, it will work, but you wont get the same sound as with the amp. Remember that the mic input is expecting a mic, not a guitar, so it may not give good preamplification.
whts the aux in for
