September 2019 I'm glad I found this version of the song. I remember my grandma playing this CD back in the mid 90s. She's been diagnosed with Mild cognitive impairment but we think its progressing to Alzheimers or dementia. It's nice to play songs for her that she still remembers.
Yes, the lawsuit was valid because COGIC and Dorinda committed copyright infringement. They did not follow due diligence in the editing process before releasing the album.
Whoever made the call to put Dorinda on the credit as the lead soloist of the song should have been the one that was sued. The jury definitely ruled Dorinda was that responsible one whether or not that is accurate or not we may never know. Sherri is absolutely singing this. However I was familiar with Twinkie's version which is beyond impeccable.
